Johnson and plenty of others and knew that if he continued to advocate for freedom and workers rights those who he once considered allies would kill him, yet he persisted on. MLK is one of the bravest humans to ever exist because he looked death in the face so many times and never backed down from what he KNEW was right.

Every time I am challenged in life, all I do is to think of what I have learned in college about the African Americans, especially those like Booker T. Washington when I started to understand of the tying the laces of the boots....when I also understood the wise understandings of W.B., Dubois....all of them inspire me to the core just as did Ms. Ida B. Wells. These and more figures in history help me to do what's right.
All we say to America is, "Be true to what you said on paper." If I lived in China or even Russia, or any totalitarian country, maybe I could understand some of these illegal injunctions. Maybe I could understand the denial of certain basic first amendment privileges because they had not committed themselves to that over there. But somewhere I read of the freedom of assembly. Somewhere I read of the freedom of speech. Somewhere I read of the freedom Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for rights. And so just as I say, we aren't going to let dogs or water hoses turn us around, we aren't going to let any injunction turn us around... Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But I've been to the mountaintop. And I don't mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land! And so I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. He decided 'DESPITE' FEAR DANGER RACISM, EVIL & IGNORANT PEOPLE & THEIR MANY PLOTS against his life he still preached on, marched on, ran on, towards the high mark of his calling, vision & goals. Martin Luther King was on an assignment from his heavenly father and he knew that when he left this world he would be with him. He understood he had one life to give. He stated that he would die for his people to have equality and a better life in a previous speech 💬. Still he did not want to die, he had a family and beautiful young wife. Man had not turned 40 yet....He willingly took the bullet that he, and everyone else knew was coming, so that we we could all move forward. That is what he is telling us here: "They are going to kill me if I keep doing this, and I am here to tell you I am not going to stop, and you should not either after I am gone. In fact...you should intensify your efforts". Can no longer watch this speech with out reflexively tearing up.
I still bawl like a baby, all these decades later. He knew what was coming. Imagine the world we could be living in, had MLK, JFK, Malcolm X, RFK, and others not been shot down. No, these men were not saints. But they were ruthlessly anticorruption. Corruption is a fact of life now, "that's just the way it is". But it wasn't always like that. Idealism wasn't always outside the realm of possibility

“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.” Mark 8:35 KJV
I watch this every MLK day. Amongst other thoughts and emotions, one that arises every year is that look in his eyes that indicates his mind is elsewhere, and on some heavy thing. And yet he presses on, and gives the speech he know will be helpful to his cause. The phonetics of "but it really don't matter with me now", and the ensuing comments, are incredibly moving. The prediction, message, and timing of this are tragic, and I agree with other comments that this is one of the best segments of any speech I've ever seen.
Every year King's national holiday comes around. I usually kind of forget about it. I'll enjoy the day off from work. But usually during the evening something will remind me of Dr King. Heaven hath not received no greater American Saint than he, who is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! He defeated hatred with love. Violence with compassion. Discrimination with unity! A fractured nation made whole. A people united and free and he did it all! The heavenly host sang his praise as he was welcomed home by God! Can I get an Amen?!

Watching this, I cant help think that he new he was going to be assassinated. I wasnt born when he was leading the civil rights movement but listening to him is like listening to the 2nd coming
I think he did. There were plots and rumors of plots and with everything on fire at that moment he had to know his time was coming to end. It shows the courage he had to stay out there, stay in public view, keep on fighting the good fight no matter what might be after him. I think the only thing he would've have been glad about was that it wasn't a bomb or something like that so no innocents were hurt.

For those wondering He is quoting Moses in the Bible who never made it into the promised land and in fact died before the Israelites made it in. But he went up the mountain and God allowed him to see the promised land and therefore give him peace in knowing the Israelites will make it.

He is saying to the gunman and others that you can kill me but it wont stop what is to come for my people. What a great man you were Martin Luther King.
This speech, being MLK's last one, always haunts me. I think he knew he didn't have long for this world. He says he had "been to the Mountaintop!" Whether it was the KKK or the CIA or a conspiracy of both, sadly, MLK knew his words were "dangerous." He sadly knew his life was at risk before that fateful day at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. But he kept on with his speech, and he was as strong willed as ever. Sadly, Martin Luther King, Jr. didn't "get there with us." But spiritually, he did. His story has more or less left a big impact on my life, living in Atlanta now (the place of his birth) and having lived in Memphis were he was sadly gunned down. MLK stood for what he believed was right, even if it cost him his life.
No we are not, dont disrespect all that fought to get to where we are today with your bullshit. This man was fighting for legitimate rights, legally, everyone is equal today because of what he fought for.
That’s because you haven’t returned to the LORD. You seek rights from your enemies instead of coming back to the LORD our God and acknowledging the error of our ways. We are in this position because we sinned against Him. Now if we hope to be free we must remember we are the people of God’s choice. We are the chosen, the nation of Israel. We must keep His laws and return to the Israelite Nation that he has risen in these Last Days which is The Israelite Church of God in Jesus Christ.
Selflessness, a love for people, sacrifice, courage , strength and victory , that will never ever ever be forgotten. Martin Luther King, you live in our hearts and our minds, keep inspiring us to have your qualities.
He was a man, just like you just like me. The greatness he attained is available to each and every one of us. This is the promise he died for that each and every one of us would have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Independence Day 2024

One of the greatest Americans to ever live. I’m white, conservative and I love him.
A prophetic voice echoing down through out the ages and stages of generations. Dr. Martin Luther King, was a prophet of God, who wasn’t afraid to stand against opposition.
“Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.”
- Dr. MLK
Reminder that MLK laughed while his friend sexually assaulted a female parishioner.
The way his voice breaks when he first says " I've been the the Mountain top" (1:35) kills me. RIP Dr. King
Yes it is sad I never noticed it before
Yes the truth was revealed, he knew he had been hoodwinked
@@indirussell7083 how so?
@@joshjwillway1545 politicians and others wanted to use him as a mouthpiece but MLK would not back down and once he started to advocate for things those in power knew threatened their power they murdered him. He had been hoodwinked by the likes of US presidents such as Lyndon B. Johnson and plenty of others and knew that if he continued to advocate for freedom and workers rights those who he once considered allies would kill him, yet he persisted on. MLK is one of the bravest humans to ever exist because he looked death in the face so many times and never backed down from what he KNEW was right.
every time i hear that sound, my body is covered in goosebumps.
wow! I am so inspired by this man and I am hispanic!
We need someone like him with everything happening today
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.

@@Kyle_Schaff it's funny in a sick sorta way, all this slander that Dr. King was a communist when he just openly slandered China and the soviets for being totalitarian, n
Just awful
Even in 2023 I still egt goosebumps whenever I listen to this speech... Dr LKM is timeless
I am listening to this sermon for the first time, I think he was a good man. greetings to everyone from Serbia (Europe).
When I was 8 years old I heard this speech on tv and it changed my life I didn’t understand politics but I did understand God and love, God bless this man he made the world a better place.
When he proclaims “my eyes have seen the glory of the comin’ of the lord”… I’m like yes indeed I do believe you have maaaaaaan that delivery was a force of nature enough to make the devil tremble .
Of all his speeches, this one gets to me the most. He really was fearless.
😢 He was not fearless exactly 💯 but I do know what you mean when you say he was.
He was conquering the fear we all naturally have. He spoke to fear in this speech and basically was telling it I'm coming through you!
I just hate that there were cruel racist cowards that took him up on the offer and used a sniper hidden in the building like the dirty rat 🐀 he was to aim at and unarmed man and murder him in cold 🥶 🩸 blood. Then blame James Earl Ray - now that's real 😨 fear
And how inhumane!
We all are here on my assignment. Martin Luther King aced his, like so many times he skipped grades and 🎓 graduated HS early - he skipped old age/ more time on earth 🌍 to a new assignment with God. 😊
Imagine being hugged right after you've delivered your speech and walk down the stage!
Chris Evans right back next week so we can you power in now do you need people would help soon and you
Amazing speech .... he was closer to God than the rest of us .. he gives me chills .. as always the evil tried to take out the 'light' .... but it just spread out, right across the World
I listen to this every year around this time.
He was serious. The blacks are the Hebrews of the Bible and God is coming to deliver them one last time from slavery and the land of their captivity. Just as in the days of old, he destroyed Egypt to set his people free, God is doing it again. This is why they killed him. Like they killed Jesus their savior also.
I catch myself listening to It random times of year and ofc MLK Day and Black History Month lol
Dr King was truly anointed. You can fill the spirit come out.
Such an incredible man of God! We all have our demons and shortcomings, I certainly know mine, but Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. persevered and led one of the greatest movements of the modern age. He is one of few true heroes from my childhood and today more so!

Yes, yes, yes, MLK was a chosen man of Yah for sure. A man worthy of honor despite his human flaws or shortcomings. If you check out Scripture, the heroes of the Holy Bible WERE NOT PERFECT PEOPLE either. They were chosen and they carried out their mission.

Because that he done on this earth 🌎 was finished and God was pleased with what he had done ✔

No, these men were not saints. But they were ruthlessly anticorruption.

We have made so much progress since that day. But we’re not to the promised land yet. We have to keep figting
What made his speeches great is that you could see that he meant every word from the bottom of his soul
Every year King's national holiday comes around. I usually kind of forget about it. I'll enjoy the day off from work. But usually during the evening something will remind me of Dr King. And I'll watch this speech. And every year it surprises me and moves me to tears. Rest in peace Dr King. May your words never be forgotten

Tears freely roll down my cheeks when I listen to this speech. What a saint. He knew was going to killed but it didn’t stop him. “I just want to do God’s will” The same dilemma Jesus wrestled with in the Garden of Gethsemane.

I agree.... This speech give me chills up my spinal cord every time I hear it..... One of the most anointed and powerful prophet's in history... I don't think we will get another one like him no time soon
2020 and we’re still dealing with this smfh 🤦🏿♀️
I agree
too bad MLKJ's words aren't broadcast today...
Yeah, since everyone who actually wanted, and came close, to change it got assassinated within a few years
No we are not, dont disrespect all that fought to get to where we are today with your bullshit.
A truly illuminated man. The pinnacle of humanness.
He was a man, just like you just like me. The greatness he attained is available to each and every one of us. This is the promise he died for that each and every one of us would have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
