Am I the only one that comes back to this over two years later to obsessively watch how amazing they are? I can't get over the intensity of the individual event, the sharpness, the lines, the finesse - I am of an older era of Torvill and Dean, (who were of course magnificent) who made us all believe they were a couple with Bolero. BUT, Tessa and Scott are on another level altogether (and I am British!). Tessa and Scott have such amazing qualities, their connection, and emotional synchronicity is unmatched. Thank you so much for putting this together.... and her outfit for the individual event was perfect.
Watching these events side-by-side just goes to show how pro they are.. totally hit all their cues in each, and at most points barely a split second of difference. Totally mesmerizing. I have to say I kind of preferred the camera work in the team event, and even nationals, but their Olympic moment was so on point
I completely agree! And if anything, I think that executing their moves either at the exact same time as before, or even at slightly different moments, demonstrates how they're able to interpret the music uniquely during any given performance---it truly is a fresh and new experience every time! I just edited another split screen video of their Olympic short dance (although, I'm still trying to remove the watermark, so it's not quite ready), so hopefully I'll be uploading that shortly. They're SO in sync for those performances! As for the camera work, I understand what you mean. Both of these are from the 'widespread' Olympic feed used by various networks (the Team one I took from a Georgian TH-cam channel, though CBC in Canada used the same feed). The Individual one is from the Olympics channel (same as CBC also). NBC had totally different angles... that one was quite nice too, but I can't seem to find a link to that version, and I'm Canadian, so I can't access any of their Olympic media... 😕 Whoa, sorry for the random info dump, haha! But it's great to read comments that have a positive outlook like yours, so thanks for watching and enjoying! 😁
I feel like they were more vulnerable during the lead-up performances, and brought a new level of fierceness and determination to their final performance in PyeongChang.. so many nuances. Truly they've done a lot for the artistic side of the sport nevermind their technical mastery.
I know, right? That's exactly what I was thinking when it happened. Their performance for the Team Event was so outstanding that when it was time for the Individual I was just praying they'd do as well as they had earlier- but then the music started, and everything is a little bit sharper, a little crisper, a little bit more on the music, and they were even able to put more emotion into it! We had celebratory champagne after their FD scores came up :D
bandgeekforlife it was truly great! I was screaming at my tv and jumping off the couch. Lol. But honestly that individual FD sealed their place in history. Not that I'm biased... 😏
I honestly love both quite equally 'cause I think there were moments in each skate that really hit the music in such fantastic ways... the Roxanne half of the Team Event flowed so well with the music, like when they came out of certain spins, or the way they flourished their arms to moments in the song, and then the Come What May section in the Individual Event was just so beautiful and striking-especially those two final lifts! 😍🙌🏼💓
The biggest difference is one of the lifts. The toned down their "cunniliftus" for the team event, because they thought the original lift was too "suggestive". But alas, they didn't get the points for it. So they went back to that "controversial" lift, even thou it lasted less than 3 seconds. Just to get extra points. Worked!
Yes, I knew where the lift was but I couldn't see the difference. I've tried a few more times and the only thing is it seems one leg goes down faster in the team event, and both stay on his shoulders a spin or two in the individual event. But I'm stopping and starting the video, I think I need a real slomo. Anyway, I'm slow to get things. After watching skating for 25 years I still can't tell most of the jumps apart, except the Axel of course.
Loraine Spencer TH-cam now let’s you choose playback speed! So you can watch it in slowmo. But it looks like in the team event Tessa’s arm goes up more like she is posing on top of Scott. In the individual event she braces her arms around his head when she is in the lift
Individual is just ice dance whereas the team event includes the mens, womens and pairs as well as ice dance. The winner of the team event is the team with the most points overall, adding together all the scores of their team in mens, womens, pairs and ice dance. While ice dance is individual, and a singular event.
mo Lang lol I guess that's because it was designed by the professional. Guillaume Cizeron def CAN skate but please someone tell him not to design costumes anymore.
SweetShimotekutafuto - that was the first thing I noticed, but I remembered from their making of Moulin Rouge, Tessa wanted similar style but with simpler with more sparkles for the Olympic than what she wore from the Nationals
But which is the version where at the end tessa pretends to fall like thrice and until she "dies" at the last note? I cant find that one it's my favorite
not much, but they did change the first lift slightly (or changed it it back. They initially thought ti would be to racy, but come the individual event the reverted back to the original lift because it just looked better than the version they did at the team event)
in the team event, each country picks the skaters that will score the highest to add to the cumulative national score. with four disciplines, a total of 6 skaters (1 male singleskater, 1 female singleskater, 1 pairs team, 1 ice dance team) will compete against their counterparts from other nations, and their respective scores are added to the total, or weighted for each placement. canada won the teams event for the 2018 olympics
I provided two links for the Team Event in the description box. One is from CBC, the Canadian network (I'm not sure if it works outside of Canada, but if you're Canadian, then it should be no problem), and the other is from a Georgian channel, so the commentary is not English. Hopefully one of those works! :D
In the Olympic figure skating team event, countries that qualify put forth a team made up of representatives for each of the event categories (Mens, Ladies, Ice dancing and Pairs). You earn more points the higher your result (for example, because Tess and Scott won the team event ice dance category, they won the maximum 10 points for the category). The points get tallied and whichever country has the highest points in total wins gold, second highest wins silver etc. Canada won in the 2018 Olympics due to the overall excellence of the team that year.
@@DM.123 Okay, thank you very much. 😊😊😊That make a lot more sense than the the articles I tried to read on online. I new into ice skating, and trying my best to understand it.

They were both great but it’s the minor details... the longer lifts, the flow that just makes the right one soooo good.

Yes, the camerawork in nationals was the best, hands down. I love that footage.
You wouldn't think the performance on the left could get any better. But it does. ❤️😭😍❤️❤️❤️❤️

Allison Wonderland I agree they were both spectacular but I felt like the build in the individual made it soar to historic heights!
I can't help but agree with both of you :D And I, too, was jumping off of my couch!
Golden medal in both events !!! Bravooo!!
damn the lifts they do are so crazy, incredible performances

I can't see the difference, I guess I need to see it in slow motion.
It is around the 2:31 mark.

Thanks a million! I was able to slow it down and I could see the difference! So cool!
These two are perfection!
Woww, they had tome in a week to make improvements in the CiStSq and the transition afterwards! Amazing!
Superb in every way and no other skate pair comes close. Once in a lifetime perfection!
Chills. I just... I love them so much
our babies are perfect, but the camera work was better at the team event
Thank you. Great work!
That’s love man
Gracias!
I wanna know what Scott said at minute 4:37 on the left
Guess we will never know
looks to me like he said ''I love you so much''
@@frufrudida He TOTALLY does. Watch it in slo-mo.
For the first minute I thought it was the same event lol

Тесса и Скотт самые любимые самые талантливые самые красивые самые лучшие чемпионы из чемпионов❤❤❤
Really interesting!
Notice Tessa’s dress is different for both portions.
Thanks for noticing! I did not.

Tessa’s 2 dresses are so fitting for MR, but all her costumes are amazing! I am sure they are worth a small fortune.
But which is the version where at the end tessa pretends to fall like thrice and until she "dies" at the last note? I cant find that one it's my favorite
Check out their Grand Prix performances from the Fall of 2017. They changed the ending starting at 2018 Canadian Nationals.
@@andreagoldstein4070 THANK YOU I FOUND IT
have you completed the split screen for their short dance?
What was the element under review during the team competition?
i'm puzzled by that as well
Maybe the first time she spins? She didn't rotate all the way very well. Too slow, looks like

I dont understand the concept of team event. How does it work?

which one is which
The one on the left is the Team Event, the one on the right is the Individual Event. :)
