Glad to see it's a few good mountain loggers left out there.. good job guys, you take half the loggers out there you put them on a mountain they would be lost.. lol
Thanks for posting the real deal Nuts. @10:30 ... I thought I was the only one who did stuff like that! Greta vid. Thanks for taking us along! Blessings Pete!
That's so nice on a timber cutter to be able to sling wood and not have to worry about topping it but in the same hand if it's not laid out just right it's making the topper machine life living hell
You’re quick on that backbar/plunge work. Honest question, do you experience more hinge pull on certain species if you just back cut and then chase it with a wedge? In other words, how do you decide when to bore cut? Thanks
It’s all in how much lien is in the tree if the tree is pretty much straight vertical then I will do a regular back cut but once it gets a lot of head lean I bore cut it
If you want it to roll left, you cut the right side of the hinge completely off. Getting it to roll right, cut the left side of the hinge completely off.
Great Vid's. But why cut high on the stump? To me looks like a lot of money left on the stump. I suppose walnut you want to get every inch but do other species change that idea?
I believe some of the stump look high on the one side because of the steep ground and if I remember correctly I left the one real high because of defect low in the butt, did it that way rather than chase the tree over the hill and butt it off after
barry hansen I used the same standard open face notch on both trees I just bore cut the second one because it had More head lean and had a greater chance of splitting open mid cut ( barber chair) I try to only bore cut when I have to as it takes a little more time
I'm proud of you nutzy, break one off and sting your pride a bit and not a one loggin word spoke 🤣🤣🤣🤣! I would've been chewing my ass for a good while before prior after realizing what I had playin out lmao!
I say "hard hat" because when I was real little my dad, both uncles, and several great uncles all cut timber together on the Oregon coast.......well being the little puss ant that I was always went clamoring through the crummy when they got back and always seemed to find a certain cassette tape I wanted to listen to unfit of women er children ears..........they'd always say "whoa there bubba, gimme that over here, that's hard hat music and needs to stay in the crummy.........." still 20 somethin years later don't know what the hell was on that tape haha

Thanks, I’ll have to try it out some more. Always scares the shit out of me when I trigger it lol. I don’t like that it goes all at once like that.

Hello from Mason County WV! Live your dream
Pete do you think you could do a how to video about making trees roll? Keep up the good work this video was great!
Lol that’s a tough one but I’ll will see what I can do buddy!!
If you want it to roll left, you cut the right side of the hinge completely off. Getting it to roll right, cut the left side of the hinge completely off.
These woods look like a northern WV county. Pendleton by chance?
Braxton I think it was
@@nuts319 Birch River. The ground pine was a hint. Nice cuttin'.

I noticed @ 6:44 you take a hand full of shavings from the saw and smell them, was you smelling to see if it was rotten in the center?

Wirt county?
This was over by villa nova Can’t remember what county that is
Great shot towards the end of the video 👍
Pete can you explain why on the 1st tree you cut as a Humbolt, then on the 2nd you used the bore cut as they looked the same tree type?
Looked like 2nd tree was more likely to barberchair....
barry hansen I used the same standard open face notch on both trees I just bore cut the second one because it had More head lean and had a greater chance of splitting open mid cut ( barber chair) I try to only bore cut when I have to as it takes a little more time
@@nuts319 thanks Pete

The log is rotary peeled for plywood or structural glue lam beams and products

@@nuts319 it does happen, and it happens to everyone. I still would've ripped off a line or 7 of hard hat encouragement lmao..........
