We drove the Audi Q3 and Q5, Lexus NX 350 Sport and the BMW X2. We liked the X2 the best. Styling is obviously in the eye of the beholder but we liked it and it is very unique. There are a lot of Q3’s and a lot of NX’s on the road. Few X2’s. Took us 5 months but it was worth the wait for a 2025.
These new BMW center consoles are TRASH! Nothing but plastic and cheap materials. Bring back the late 90s & early 2000s era luxury look, feel and smell.
How is a luxury brand not gonna offer ventilated seats? I mean i get that it's an entry level model for their brand but come on, Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, etc. offer ventilated seats on their competitive vehicles
I keep mistaking the X1 for the X3 or X5 on the road. Why buy the X2? Well, the X6 has sold 400K units. The X4 is selling 10K/annually. So, maybe that answers your question. Also, I drove them back to back, and the X2 smokes the X1 in both versions in every driving dynamic way. but, that's what it's supposed to do. The X1 is just boring to look at, but then, having had about 12 X3s vs 4 coupe SUVs, I still really love BMW coupe SUVs.
The design of the car, the car design process involves concept and research, design and development, engineering, powertrain and performance, interior design, testing and validation, manufacturing, and finally, launch and marketing.
While this Front drive architecture is not for me, I actually like the new X2 M35i design. Yes, Sofyan, I totally agree that it gives off that baby X4 vibe. Hopefully (But doubtful) this will make Audi bring the A3 Hatch back to the states, or S3 Hatch, to compete with the M35 variant.. But I understand, under that umbrella, the Golf R is there to sort of, fill that niche.
SYNTHETIC leather. Let’s start calling it what it is. It’s synthetic and toxic to produce and is not degradable. Let’s stop calling it vegan like it’s supposed to be better.
I’m not usually too critical on physical changes especially with new platforms, but this is UGLY. All I can say is thank goodness the designer stepped away and that there are new eyes and inspiration coming to BMW. This is an identity crisis.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 at this design. I can't believe bmw board just sits there and approves one monstrosity after another. this looks like you gave a kid some crayons and told them to draw a car for me
14 way seats? lol. Your car had an 8 way seat with no lumbar adjustment! BMW makes you pay an extra $250 for that. I think that's an important piece of information people should know. Oh well, at least we got another "slightly uphill" 0-60 time.
3:23 is what exactly BMW wants everyone to do.. to take a second look. The idea that everyone is looking at you when driving their cars is really part of their party tricks..kidneys and lines are also giveaways. But its a hatch-wagon.. I’d rather get the x5 or even x3 or down to x1 than this one.
I took delivery of one of these earlier in the summer and even I think the exterior design is pretty ugly. It reminds me of one of those cute-ugly dogs like a Pug or French Bulldog. What surprises me is that some people have stopped me and complimented me on how great they think the car looks. The paint is a nice color, Cape York Green, but I’m baffled anyone actually thinks it looks good. I’m thinking BMW somehow got a batch of these people in their customer research sessions on future styling who go for this sort of “butch” look. 🤔I’m like, OK if you say so Pal.😂 Luckily I’m on the inside looking out instead of on the outside looking at it. I’m very happy with the car however, it’s a great replacement for my previous generation X1. Although it’s the same level on the product lineup it comes across as a significant upgrade. Interior design, materials, noise and vibration, handling, performance, seat comfort, fuel economy feel upscale. Even the door closure and exhaust note sound more expensive. Not quite at the level of my 5 series sedan but the improvement in quality feel was better than I expected. I was worried about the DCT performance but it turns out to be quite smooth, quick and seamless in operation, even in slow stop and go traffic. Complaints: Engine start up is sometimes harsh. The controls are also a little TOO responsive for something that isn’t a hard core sports car. The steering is much lighter than the other BMWs I have owned and it actually changes direction too quickly to the extent of being twitchy. Even the acceleration step off from a stop makes it tricky to avoid making jack rabbit starts. The non opening skylight instead of a real sunroof is useless unless you live in Northern Europe with a lot of gloomy days. The touch screen replacement of some button functions looks like where they cut costs and build complexity, but the voice commands work fine as an alternative. A plug in hybrid version would have been perfect. Overall it was a good purchase, and the dealer gave me a few thousand off the sticker when I ordered it.
These newest BMW designers are really taking “angry Beaver” front ends to a new level. These new exterior designs have just been awful. People loved BMWs for their subtlety and sleeper nature while having the speed to boot. Now that subtlety is gone. So the exteriors aren’t great, driving dynamics aren’t what BMWs used to be, and feature content sucks. No ventilated seats on this, and no readily available adaptive cruise control when that’s standard on a civic or Corolla. That’s sad.
Honda did the same with their new generation. Now the fronts of their vehicles look like a donkey head. X2 is a weird-looking design because of that aspect.

I never hop on the new car bandwagon of hating car designs but BMWs latest products are just really ugly
I agree.
BMW agreed and just changed over their design team.
Those ugly designs are giving them sales
Except the X5M comp and m8
But bmw styling is subjective since it does so many other things well
This is the German's way of paying tribute to the Pontiac Aztek

The X1 looks significantly better than the X2.
So true. This X2 is ugly!
Agreed. The X2 looks dreadful.
I kinda like it😊
These new BMW center consoles are TRASH! Nothing but plastic and cheap materials. Bring back the late 90s & early 2000s era luxury look, feel and smell.
BMW needs to make these hybrid. The X2 and the X1 would be perfect to make Hybrid to compete with the Cross Over market.
The front looks like a pissed off beaver!!
BMW looks like LEGO front Grill.
A pity about the low speed stumble with the DCT.😢
If you know how to drive around the dct it's fine but 5 mile an hr traffic jam is terrible
Hideous, they better not mess up the new X5
Even if they do so what? Once you sit in and drive one you’ll quickly forget about the exterior
@naveenthemachine Naw the exterior had to look good to me. My opinion
@@naveenthemachine nope on to the next company
The current X5, X6 and 3 series look so fine, hope they dont ruin it
lol why u so mad 😂
It looks like a toaster with wheels in that grey haha
Likes like the designers at BMW and Buick were hanging out.
The new Buicks looks better than that thing.
@@PPE707 lmao I agree with you
Yesss it looks like Buick designers had to make a BMW
just say NO to dual clutch transmissions and skinny tire walls and turbo fours
Awesome design. Love it 😊 👍
X4 won't be discontinued, the plan is to make the X4 SUV in an all-electric model iX4, which could help it stand out against BMW’s gas-powered SUVs.
the design is what a 10 yr old would draw id they were asked to draw a bmw
No ventilated seats. On a BMW. Pathetic.
You have to go up the lineup for that luxury.
A lot of models don’t have ventilated seats optioned, usually only heated
If you live in cold climates, you won't carte
Care about cooled seats
@@stevornrichards1380I live in a cold climate, and def want cool seats
What color it is that one?
I usually don’t like new BMW designs but I actually love how this car looks. It’s really in your face and aggressive, reminds me of a small BMW XM
How is a luxury brand not gonna offer ventilated seats? I mean i get that it's an entry level model for their brand but come on, Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, etc. offer ventilated seats on their competitive vehicles
Bring back the normal kidney grill and the angel eyes
Can I use 87 octane or no?
Something just looks awkward about this new X2 I think I liked the old one better
This thing costs 50k?
wait i thought the m35 was dct and the 8speed was the lexus transmission from aisin?
Love this thing!

The shell styled hood along with the wrapped around headlight housing never looks good.

is that a VW sourced engine? performance numbers have GTI/R vibe

Sadly the X2 seems to have better interior and build quality materials than the new X3
I'm glad I'm not the target demographic for this. God no.
i saw a BMW a week ago and thought the turns were malfunctioning too
I was never a hater of these coupe SUVs but now I am. The X1 looks way better than this
SYNTHETIC leather. Let’s start calling it what it is. It’s synthetic and toxic to produce and is not degradable. Let’s stop calling it vegan like it’s supposed to be better.
They’re still insisting on the large kidney grills?!?!
Yes Rowan, they're still insisting.
Roof rails are a $250 option.
Yes, Walter Whites new car! It'll be a nightmare to maintain after a few years and or 50k miles. Like almost every BM. Plastic water pump?😂
I’m not usually too critical on physical changes especially with new platforms, but this is UGLY. All I can say is thank goodness the designer stepped away and that there are new eyes and inspiration coming to BMW. This is an identity crisis.
How much $ to put a 2.5 liter compared to 2.0 for the manufacturing??
I actually like previous x2 more. Don't care for this look at all.
BMW is ruining their brand with this technology and new design language. They've rolled out idrive 8, 8.5 and 9 and all STILL have issues LOL.
Nice car
The X4 audience are not gonna turn they’re leases in for this
🤣🤣🤣🤣 at this design. I can't believe bmw board just sits there and approves one monstrosity after another. this looks like you gave a kid some crayons and told them to draw a car for me
No ventilated seats on a $52k vehicle? Got it.
Just cause they’re BMW and want to “save” features for the rest of there line up.
PATHETIC!!
So ugly, even its mother would throw it out! This is truly hideous, imo.

Ironic that this can't tow but will need to be
Jesus fuckin Christ. Another jumpscare from bmw. They gotta stop that
😂😂😂
It’s not a good looking car at any corner. BMW design team needs to go back to the drawing board, on a few of their newer models.
Hey BMW bring the X1 electric and the X1 PHEV!
X2 don't look good.
Front looks like a Chevy Cruze, rear like the last gen Saab 9-5… woof
I don't like where BMW is heading with their design language. The new VWs look more enticing...

It costs $30K (German import) here in China...cuz so many people are buying EVs. A friggin' bargain! 😊
That is one weird looking car...especially that side 3/4 view from the front
Why would anyone buy this over a Volvo XC40? Messy and strange, far too expensive.
One of the ugliest things you can find on the roads today
They could have kilt this off and just kept the x4
Old x2 looked better. This looks like it could be a subaru or Mitsubishi
I brought my 17 teen year old son the X1 and I have to say, I enjoy drive the X1 more than my 24 - Audi RS7 or my wife’s 24 - BMW X5 M60i.
Driving the X1
It looks like the old Nissan kicks to me.....😮😢😢
That is ugly from the back JFC
The qx50 looks better.😮😅😊😊
This screams Mitsubishi imo
I think it looks like a gentrified Pontiac Aztek. Sorry not sorry.
The side profile and rear is soooooooo ugly 😂
To me, it’s ugly.
Very bad design

Front wheel drive? Forget it 👎
Looks like it's trying to appeal to the Chinese market with that rear end , it's so over styled and ugly
Thank god the bmw designer is now gone
All the tacky black plastic looks cheap, double kidney grill out of proportion to the rest of the car, rear seat space looks cramped
I dont like the front of that vehicle, it looks like its mad because it has big nostrils and lego like bumper.

Hideous looking car. Yuck!
Again and again, BMW is ugly
3:25 i hate it so much
