Good advice! My first couple trips were in Joshua Tree. I had to haul 24 lbs of water, so my pack ended up over 40 lbs. I discovered I way over packed. By my 4th trip to San Jacinto, I was underpacked and broke my water system and forgot my air mattress. Luckily I had my closed cell. 7 years later and 4 packs and for tents later, I dialed down to under a 15 lb setup. I learned it's really easy to take advice online, but it's not always going to work for you. Lesson learned is to take your time planning and choosing gear and planning for the environment you're going to explore.Great video, thanks

Man, I couldn't agree more! I made all the mistakes along the way, and if the online hiking and backpacking community has taught me anything, it's that advice is great but none of it applies to everyone. Taking time to really think through your trip, BEFORE it happens, is the best way to avoid getting into a situation. Thanks for watching, and I appreciate the comment!
