My very first ballgame when I was 8 was Holtzman's no hitter. I still remember it like it was yesterday. Santo's 3 run homer, Billy Williams catching Aaron's long drive to left field right amongst the ivy, the crowd rushing onto the field after the final out. What a time to be a kid and crazy about baseball!
Unfortunately, it was all downhill after that. 8 19 69 they were in 1st Place, up by 8 1\2 games. They lost 25 out of their last 40 games. The Mets on 8 19 69 were in 3rd Place, 9 1/2 games out. They won 33 out of their last 44 games.
My dad took me to a half a dozen Cubs games between 1967-71. I was 13 in 1969. I remember this well. Took the EL from Evanston straight to Wrigley. A night game is on my "bucket list", but I live in Florida. :-(
This was a great series. I was born in November of ‘69, and a Cub-fan soon-after. My grandma Mae got me hooked on the cubs & the game of baseball from a very early-age. My team was Sandburg, Grace & Dawson; but everyone older than me always talked about the late-60’s cubs & how good they were.
Keep the great great Joe maddon as the Chicago Cubs manager forever and ever he is the greatest manager in Cuba history joe maddon actually won a world series for the Chicago Cubs !
I wish I was around back then, to bad I missed out; but I became a Cubs fan in 87, so I was got to see Dawson, Sandberg and the great's that followed.
Lucky you were not around. The pain of the collapse of the 69 team still stings today.

1969, 1982 and 2003 heartbreakers especially 1969 I was 15 and watched the games on WGN. The year of the Miracle Mets hate them to this day!
Petition to bring back Cubs players recording albums.

My Late Great Uncle told me stories about the '69 Cubs went I was little kid back in 1982 and now I told stories about the '03 Cubs
5:34 John Frigo co-wrote the first song Hey, Hey, Holy Mackerel. I think he was the father of Derek Frigo the guitarist of the band Enuff Z'Nuff.
It looks like the 2019 Chicago Cubs will turn into the 1969 Chicago Cubs.Let's make history.
They did at the end
@@michaelleroy9281 Why are the Cubs breaking up the Cubs ? what type of year will 2021 bring for the Cubs ?
Check out Leo on the Munsters when Herman trys out for baseball team.
I'm wondering, would you think if "Cub Power" is the '69 Cubs' version of the "Super Bowl Shuffle"?
Eric VanSickle. yep, but the CUBS did it 1st. just reverse the order.
Ken Holtzman pitched another no hitter in 1971 against the Reds

How about this one, who was here when they won 🏆 it all in 2016?
Seeing the Cleon Jones catch has to hurt for Cubs (and Orioles) fans as that was the final out of the WS. Nice for Mets fans, though...
I would rather not people talk about other things than the Cubs in these videos.
I guess in 1969 they couldn't leave out the moon landing or Woodstock
Too bad Cub Power ran into The Amazing Mets!
Lol, Ernie was a bad singer!
