The History of Hydra-matic Transmissions

Bob Elton gives a talk on the technical history of early Hydra-matic transmissions, from the very first 1940 Oldsmobile, through the front wheel drive transmissions of the late 70s. He uses the transmission display in the Ypsilanti Automotive Heritage Museum as a backdrop to illustrate the workings, and the innovations, in these early transmissions.
