I am from the Netherlands. They not only produced the winning song. This will be the Europe anthem and make England wanna rejoin again. Europa Jonguh! 😂
The Dutch should be PROUD of this! Although it's clashing with other songs, it's very catchy and memorable. It's also art since it's dedicated to Joost's father! This song has STRONG potential if staged right.
Welcome to Europe, stay here until I die. At the end of the day we are all human beings (AFTER THE CELEBRATIONS OF THE FIRST PART OF THE SONG) My father once told me it's a world without borders I miss you everyday, I whisper secretly Do you see now dad? I listened to you For me this is also a statement about Europe and the fact that europe is also Ukrain where on both sides thousands of young soldiers, humans die while we celebrate eurovision. For me Joost is my hero.
Eurovision is an emotional affair for Joost. As a child, he watched it together with his parents. "Parents, one day I'm going to be on Eurovision stage" and he made it. Unfortunately, his parents died when he was a child. This song is dedicated to his late father. That's why it's called EUROPAPA. The part in the song “I'm in Germany, but I'm so alone. I'm in Italy, but I still feel the pain, etc.", I feel it's directed at his parents... Joost loved his parents and still does. His lyrics are mostly very deep, but the melody is happy, danceable and the clips of his song are presented in a fun way. Joost himself said that his musical style is diverse. When Joost was asked what song they should listen to in order to understand you. He answered Florida 2009 (it's about his parents) and Wachtmuziek (it's about mental health). I recommend listening to them. You have to translate it, because he sings in Dutch.
I'm a Dutchie and F*ck yeah that Joost is doing this! Grown up in the nineties and Gabber is Dutch culture and great to see it in a Eurovision song. Also the ending is double.. His parents.. And Europe burning at this moment.. We all need to get together and fight against the wrongdoing right now.
Like Maike, I'm a Dutchie that hates gabber. But I was immediately drawn to the contrast between the party sound and the sad lyrics. And the final part hits like a brick.
12 points de la France 🇫🇷 ! Cette chanson est troublante, triste et avec plusieurs sens… ❤️🩹 Vive l’Europe 🇪🇺, soyons fiers d’y vivre et vive la Chanson de Joost. 😍
As someone who normally listens to hardstyle/hardcore i see this track as a huge dub, also the fact that it is different then what the Netherlands usually sends out I'm happy with Joost.
I "hate" this song because it made cry at the end of it, after so much fun, and with "hate" I mean LOVE, he is doing a kind of homage to his parents and Europe, and you can feel that even knowing a thing of dutch, that's what good music must make you feel. Well done, Netherlands! All the best in Malmö!
I am totally surprised I LOVE this!!! Takes me back to the 90s and all those different styles that actually originated from the Netherlands and all go so smootth into echother. And then at the end that emotional ending.. its a rollercoaster of emotions. And hey, life can be a party but not all the time. 12 points from me!
papa means dad in Dutch. Europapa is dedicated to his dad which passed away due to cancer. He was just a little kid 12 years old. His mom died a year later due to a cardiac arrest. Writing songs is like a therapy to dedicate songs mostly to his parents. His father give him the mindset that there are no borders. Borders are just invented by people so dare to think without limits. why don't you invent your own world. If you want to know more about Joost Klein you should give Florida 2009 a shot and Wachtmuziek. Both are in Dutch but there are lyrics for you can translate in English. It gives a better understanding who he is.
Someone who lost his parent at such a young age must be stuck in time for some time until he recovers from such a trauma. You hitting the nail on its head when you say that papa means father. Joost used the Dutch word Europa cleverly, and extend it to Europapa, as a vehicle to use the word papa over and over again (I guess papa has never been used so many times in any song) to honour his father, who also taught Joost to broaden his view beyond the borders of the Netherlands because borders a just a concept invented by humans. The start of the song and the passport thing refers to that. Now he crossed the boundaries of the Netherlands like his father told him to do by his entry to the Eurovision contest and thus leaving the 12 year old boy inside him behind (represented by the last shot of the burning house where he stood in front of his "father and his 12 year old self"). Let's hope he can now finally move on now he virtually burned his traumatic past.
It makes my heart so happy to see you all reacting this way to this song! It's not my usual cup of tea at all, but I'm fully rooting for Joost this year. He has something special.
Malmo will explode with this song!!! I don't miss this live, it will be incredible. The first place in televoting!!! Up Europe!! Land of great opportunities!!! Up to the Netherlands!!!
Massive props in embracing Dutchness in every way. It takes the song to the next level. And I think the crowd singing along to the Europapa-pa-pa-pa-bum and stomping to the hardcore are gonna be massive moments in Malmo.
I did not enjoy this journey. One minute I’m silly dancing, the next I’m back in the 90s 2Unlimited stylee and then that at the end left me too sad. Emotional whiplash indeed @danietreg 😢
i don't care what people say, this is in my top 3, i LOVE it so much, joost should be proud of what he's created 🫶🏻 and as for how it'll translate on stage, i'm honestly not worried since joost has an amazing stage presence !! this is gonna be AMAZING in may.
I find it funny that very few people recognize René Froger on their right, who did go to Eurovision with de Toppers. It's almost as if people are trying to forget "Shine" ever happened....
@@sgriens6524 I didn't recognize anyone until I watched the making of this video :) But Renee entered, S10 entered, Donny is a friend of Joost, and Emma screamed at the Results.. :) it's a fun way to have all this people together in the "last meal" as this scene was called :)
This is a definite contender but he will not get a lot of jury votes because the jury, especially people in the industry who are voting, look at the performance from a professional point of view and the vocals are important, this is one reason rap and heavy metal does not usually do well. I can see what happened to Kaarja last year happening to Joost, he gets a low jury score and grabs a huge televote score. I hope he wins, but I think he finishes 3rd 4th or 5th.
Dont overthink it, its happy hardore gold from the Netherlands. Let it all out and go mental when its played. We can all go back to our boring lives after, but during this song Europe has to party mad. letsgoooo Europe!!
This might be the reason that I will watch Eurovision 2024. Have not watch it for like 10 years. During my youth I did watch it every year, but with expansion with other countries I lost interest. Joost, you did it! 👍👍👍
12 points from Belgium, 💯 😂. True to the dutch DNA and this to me as a 90s teenager is such a nostalgic beat. Happy Hardcore at Eurovision,😂 lets gooo Hakkeeeee 🤘❤️🇳🇱🇧🇪🇪🇺
As a dutchie is so proud of this, this song catches so much from past about dutch and european culture. I love the small details to famous and well known dutch people in the video. This will defently go the finals and i hope they will win
I cant listen to this song without crying at the end and i have been listening to it 30x a day since it came out. Seems like i'm gonna have a tough time until eurovision 😅
Totally gives me mid 90s vibes, with something about it that also reminds me of Eurotrash the TV series, and no I don't know why. But... it's fun. I thought I'd imagined the Stromae reference the first listen through I had, but no. It was there.
It’s fun and up beat, but in it’s core it’s a sad song about him missing his parents. Who died when he was very young. His dad thought him there are no borders. And while watching eurosong with them he told them he would preform there one time. They died when he was 12 and that’s why he dedicated this song to them.
Although gabber and hardcore are really not my style, I love this song! Joost is such a likable person, he is so real and he put his heart and soul in this song and you can hear that. I don’t know many songs that can make you smile, dance, jump for joy, give your goosebumps and make you cry within 3 minutes 🤩 Go Joost 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱
Totally perfect mix between remind your roots and open minded for something different, even honor them and most important not taking yourself or something else to serious. I like the dutch kind of thinking ;), sry 4 my bad english...
I'm very excited for the Netherlands. Not only they combine both Happy Hardcore and Gabber but it's also part of the Dutch rave culture during its growth in the 1990s. With events like Thunderdome, Mysteryland etc that plays styles like this.
Hey people’s, I’m a Dutchie that hates gabber or hardcore music. but after listening a few times again. I become totally obsessed with this music. Ive always disliked almost everything we brought to the Eurovision and when this came out I kinda didnt want to listen but my boyfriend pressed me into it and now I can't stop listening! Might be the first time in a loooong time I maybe watch.... GO JOOST!! Bringing back old skool gabber/hardcore! DJ Paul 4ever!! The brief story of Europapa by Joost Klein: His parents died when he was a kid. His father to cancer at the age of 12, and his mother to a cardiac arrest at the age of 13. After the death of his parents, he started searching for the meaning of life and relief of his pain by traveling, but never actually found it there. He gave people money (psychologists) to help him, but that did not work. Until he realized that he still had time and options to realize his dreams. After all, the world has no borders right? And so he did. The burning house in the end represents losing but also moving on, in a positive way. Burning your bridges: no longer controlled by pain + sadness, but focused on your dreams. *WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE DUTCH ENTRY FOR EUROVISION 2024?*
Absolute BANGER!! 🤸🏻♀️
12 POINTS TO THE NETHERLANDS!!!
Do yall mean the guy that won Eurovision 2024?
I am from the Netherlands. They not only produced the winning song. This will be the Europe anthem and make England wanna rejoin again. Europa Jonguh! 😂
love it!!!!!😍❤🤟🔥🔥🔥🔥

atm in my circle everybody loves it even if it doesnt score high, getting "gabber" to be heard in eurovision is enough for most of em
We are proud
Welcome to Europe, stay here until I die.
At the end of the day we are all human beings (AFTER THE CELEBRATIONS OF THE FIRST PART OF THE SONG)
My father once told me it's a world without borders
I miss you everyday, I whisper secretly

For me this is also a statement about Europe and the fact that europe is also Ukrain where on both sides thousands of young soldiers, humans die while we celebrate eurovision.
For me Joost is my hero.
breathtaking
And now the vote for selma: 120 points!!
The last few seconds are powerful....however the audience will be shouting all over the spoken words, so the effect will be totally lost.
Belgium knows the vibe perfect😂
Indeed 😂 I'm sure 1000% sure Belgium will give 12 points to the Netherlands. This is our culture too :)

It's almost not translatable unless you're Dutch. And at the same time we all can understand each other through art.

Hear, hear!
I'm so happy. At first I was a bit afraid when they announced Joost but this song is so good. Proud dutchy here.
old lady of 67, from Amsterdam: I fully agree!!! it is AWESOME!!!!!!
Like Maike, I'm a Dutchie that hates gabber. But I was immediately drawn to the contrast between the party sound and the sad lyrics. And the final part hits like a brick.
For those who wants to know the story behind the song
That‘s f***ing good and my Swiss heart‘s not amused about that fact. 🤩✨
I am Dutch but loving the Swiss entry as well tbh
12 points de la France 🇫🇷 ! Cette chanson est troublante, triste et avec plusieurs sens… ❤️🩹

It's amazing! A partysong with a very deep message. Joost you did it 🎉❤
As someone who normally listens to hardstyle/hardcore i see this track as a huge dub, also the fact that it is different then what the Netherlands usually sends out I'm happy with Joost.
Happy Hardcore over the world.. DANCE AND UNITE....greets from the Netherlands to you all.

In my humble opinion, Maike is a much more suitable ESC reporter than Jantje Smit.
I take this as a huuuge compliment, thank you so much ❤️ (maybe one day?)
Everyone missed the cameo of the one and only hardcore legend DJ Paul Elstak in the car (he did the hardcore remix in the ending). 😂
I am Dutch and I am obsessed this hardcore gabber style music was from my younger years never expected it to be in Eurovision ❤🎉
absolutely love it! when Gabber was hot I was already "getting on a bit" now 67.... but I am dancing!!!!
I don't know what's happening, but I'm sure I'll headbang to Europapa on my Eurotrip this summer! Saluti from Italy!

You will all be crying at the end of the live performance, just like me 😭🥺❤️❤️.
From us Americans who watch we want this to win Eurovision.
I don’t care one bit about Eurovision. But i do care about Joost Klein. He is a true artist, goosebumps everytime!
Massive props in embracing Dutchness in every way. It takes the song to the next level. And I think the crowd singing along to the Europapa-pa-pa-pa-bum and stomping to the hardcore are gonna be massive moments in Malmo.

Magnificent but also emotional
Guess we know the winner of this year - EuroPapa! We need some positive vibes. Love it!!!!!

It took me watching this to realize S10 and Emma Wortelboer made cameos in the video!
I find it funny that very few people recognize René Froger on their right, who did go to Eurovision with de Toppers. It's almost as if people are trying to forget "Shine" ever happened....
Paul elstak in the car at the gabber drop aswell :)@@sgriens6524

Dont overthink it, its happy hardore gold from the Netherlands. Let it all out and go mental when its played. We can all go back to our boring lives after, but during this song Europe has to party mad. letsgoooo Europe!!

This might be the reason that I will watch Eurovision 2024. Have not watch it for like 10 years. During my youth I did watch it every year, but with expansion with other countries I lost interest. Joost, you did it! 👍👍👍
Joost Klein's "Europapa" is a catchy tune that perfectly captures the Eurovision spirit! Can't wait to see the Netherlands shine on stage! 🌟🎶

I cant listen to this song without crying at the end and i have been listening to it 30x a day since it came out. Seems like i'm gonna have a tough time until eurovision 😅

1, in a short time there are so many views. no one in history has managed to get views in such a short time. This song would definitely be top 1 on Televote.
2, there is a big ART, meaning and sad story inside of this music. but most people don't know.
3, the chorus is constantly stuck in your head. But this brings pleasure and joy.
4, this music is easy to sing.
5, who doesn't like cheerful music.
6, The vibes is amazing, in addition very Getchy.
7, Joost klein is amazing singer, he has many fans in several European countries.
So ‘ EUROPAPA’ for the win! 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱

Papa = daddy in Dutch
The brief story of Europapa by Joost Klein:
His parents died when he was a kid. His father to cancer at the age of 12, and his mother to a cardiac arrest at the age of 13. So he was orphaned at age 13 and brought up by his brother and sister.
Joost has written Europapa as a letter to his father. His father told him the world has no borders. Borders are made up by humans and so you can create your own world, and that’s what Joost is doing every day from that day on.
Without borders.
Joost always said to his parents that one day he would go to Eurovision and that day is here and now. 12 points to The Netherlands!
