I spent the 80s and 90s at drag strips in Ohio and Indiana and grew up watching the rest on television. I got used to the nitro eye and nose burn and could tell the habits of each crew's warmup process. I haven't been to a race in probably 15 years and all I get is TH-cam for the experience. Tons of videos with warmups but the sound is generally horrible with cell phone audio limitations. This video brought back a lot of memories and the sounds were spot on from my memory banks.
I have been a drag racing fan since I was a kid attending the big go and now going to Norwalk Ohio for distance purposes, and just want to say that this brought a tear to my eye. This was edited wonderfully . what a neat video
This is a very nice video. Like other comments, thanks for letting the engines provide the audio! That's music! I think if a person wants to start their day correctly, just have a coffee and watch this video...
Started out a little slow but got warmed up and by the time the engines were getting blipped and the chassis starting to twist the hair on the back of my neck took me back to 1972 and my first time with a top fuel car. Thank you.
Best nitro montage! The only thing better would be a montage of cold starts on alcohol and the switch to nitro. The difference in sound and power is unreal!
Good God, I may just have to watch this a few more times! WOW! Love it Love it Love it! Reading other's comments- true about the burning eyes, the smell and the pound in the chest. Pure music to my ears ! Awesome video once again! Thank you :)
No video can do it justice....you MUST attend a drag race to get the smell, sound, and all around excitement!!! Get the good reserve seats, too....I promise you, it's worth every dime!!
love the smell of nitro and alcohol engines .plus feel the ground shake .love seeing them race .love going to Lancaster speedway seeing the super mods and mods run love racing .the pure power .speed ande feel the ground shake .HEAVEN !!!!!!
The noise is not enough, the sweet burn of your eye's and nose, the intense rumble in your chest.... and the near shit yourself ROMP of the throttle hit.... PURE HEAVEN
Man I wanna go to Bakersfield SO FREAKIN BAD in March...ANY March! Seen NHRA T/F & F/C in Memphis couple times. We ran 10.5-Outlaw with ORSCA till it ended & now 315-Radial with everybody. U never forget that 1st whiff of Nitro with the watery eyes & snotty nose...man-crush on Nitro fo sho!
10/10 100% Bloody Brill. . .Well Done..Got me goin. . .Can remember back in 1981-ish went to one of last meetings at Orange County. . .Halcyon days. . . . .
Great video, opening slingshot idling sounds like the beginning of "Hot for teacher" lol, when they burp it, wow I gotta experience this before I check out. and the quote "you can never have enough horsepower or ammunition"
Thumbs down ? WTF's wrong with this awesome, incredible, you can see the fuel jumpin outa the pipes video ? NOTHING !!! Nay sayers go cut your thumbs off !!! Lol wow !!! Great video 😀
amazing vid can not wait for summer now, i like the comment at the end about filmed with no respirator, that lack oxygen in the air and stingy eyes has to be better than any mind altering drug :D
I love it I was at Castrol raceway Edmonton ab nitro vs alky dragter gruge race during hot augest night I was in the stageing lanes on the nitro side I was in heven I hope I get to do it aegin this year
Why do the old cars sound a lot better than the later cars. The later cars don't have that bite when they are blipped. They sound subdued for some reason?
Danny Marsh I worked on a nitro funny car team in 96 , the drive shaft is a real nice piece . when you go to the track watch for the clutch guy , he installs and removes the drive shaft, make eye contact say hi and ask him to show it to you! !!
*"All warm ups were filmed without the use of a respirator mask"* *video from 2015* Who wants on whether the cameraman is dead or has severe respiratory complications?
And Garlits is working on electric top fuelers.....go figure. They think the sport is having trouble attracting people now....go electric and see what happens.
I'm deaf from being around these vehicles, the folks wearing gas masks are running alcohol that stuffs bad on you specially since they added a cherry scent to it back in the 90's

What an awesome video!!!!!!!
You can’t just watch it. You have to be there; hear it, smell it, taste it and breathe it....Although breathing is difficult around it.
I have been a drag racing fan since I was a kid attending the big go and now going to Norwalk Ohio for distance purposes, and just want to say that this brought a tear to my eye. This was edited wonderfully . what a neat video
Thank you for your videos. No crappy music and great editing.

One of the best editing efforts I've seen. Well done.

There is NOTHING like the first Top Fueler to start up on race day.
Very cool and unique video. I love watching the Pits because of all the work that goes behind a 6 Second run.
6 second?… I don’t think that top fuel cars and dragsters have gone that slow for a few decades now…
No video can do it justice....you MUST attend a drag race to get the smell, sound, and all around excitement!!! Get the good reserve seats, too....I promise you, it's worth every dime!!
Wicked bro, love standing beside some burning Nitro and feeling that wonderful beat in your chest

Great editing, awesome audio!
You have to be at a race and stand near these engines when they're running. The sweetest sounds on the planet.
Excellent camera work! Nice video.
Awesome video, really liked they way you put it together!
The noise is not enough, the sweet burn of your eye's and nose, the intense rumble in your chest.... and the near shit yourself ROMP of the throttle hit.... PURE HEAVEN

Love the smell of nitro in the morning !
Amen love the nitro .alcohol or methanol
Donny Weibel methanol is the best smell then it’s diesel.
To Heck with 4K Video for TVs. We need 4K Audio!
Great video, opening slingshot idling sounds like the beginning of "Hot for teacher" lol, when they burp it, wow I gotta experience this before I check out. and the quote "you can never have enough horsepower or ammunition"
I remember the first time I heard a blown engine; I was hooked from that time onward.
ONLY IN AMERICA I just love it their is no sound in the world like that everybody should have one!
You're the best Les.
Thumbs down ? WTF's wrong with this awesome, incredible, you can see the fuel jumpin outa the pipes video ? NOTHING !!! Nay sayers go cut your thumbs off !!! Lol wow !!! Great video 😀

Nitro Rain at the 2:53 point
Classic footage Thank you.
My neighbors would love this,,,,,,, around 3am!!!!
Excellent and accurate! 👍🇺🇸
Plug your ears? Turn up the speakers. Better yet, go to an event and hear this in person! Smell the nitro! Feel the burn!
Like the one guys shirt. Kicking ass and taking names… what was your name again
Had to make it 600 for you excellent footage
Vintage and Cackle Cars sound so much better than the newer motors. Not sure what it is but theres a difference, much more thumpy. Cam profile?
amazing vid can not wait for summer now, i like the comment at the end about filmed with no respirator, that lack oxygen in the air and stingy eyes has to be better than any mind altering drug :D
Oh he'll yes
Plain awesomeness
the best monsters are the ones we build
Great video! But it doesn't do It justice!
Nice Work!
God bless American nitro 👍
I love it I was at Castrol raceway Edmonton ab nitro vs alky dragter gruge race during hot augest night I was in the stageing lanes on the nitro side I was in heven I hope I get to do it aegin this year
Capps seems like a pretty cool dude.
Why do the old cars sound a lot better than the later cars. The later cars don't have that bite when they are blipped. They sound subdued for some reason?
Once the engine fires how do they uncouple the starter from the blower pulley?
1:21 Sean Belt and Gary Giffords. :)
Drive shafts must be incredibly strong to handle the ridiculous amounts of instant power
Danny Marsh I worked on a nitro funny car team in 96 , the drive shaft is a real nice piece . when you go to the track watch for the clutch guy , he installs and removes the drive shaft, make eye contact say hi and ask him to show it to you! !!
Art Mchugh will do Art....cheers 👍🏼
Danny Marsh 😄😎
Nitro makes me appreciate the fact I am aliveeeeee....
4:02 sounds the best to me....
*"All warm ups were filmed without the use of a respirator mask"*
*video from 2015*
Who wants on whether the cameraman is dead or has severe respiratory complications?
What song is playing in background in the first part
Around the 30 to 45 seconds
I want one. Or two actually
POWER!!!
Real 'black art' stuff … brilliant!
Oh Yeah!
I want to see this turn into a giant mosh pit when that engine cranks up and they put the boot in.
Heeft 'ie de hik of zo?
Huh?
2:59 Radar! :)
Filmed without a respirator.??? "RIP" eyes, nose.....!!!
Love the Nitro sounds but you can keep the flavors and smells. It would gag a maggot on a gut wagon.
Eargasman
Sssssssoooooooooo cooooool
nothing sounds like a Hemi on nitro
2:23!
And Garlits is working on electric top fuelers.....go figure. They think the sport is having trouble attracting people now....go electric and see what happens.
V8 music
I'm deaf from being around these vehicles, the folks wearing gas masks are running alcohol that stuffs bad on you specially since they added a cherry scent to it back in the 90's
Robby King they only start them with alcohol. Mask are because of the nitromethane not the alcohol with is methanol
WAYBAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So violent!!
