      Breakwind is a common word in NZ - rows of tall trees to break the wind especially in rural areas

    Tamarind is a tree that produces a pod-like fruit used in cuisine. The pulp is used in chutneys, sauces, sweets, juice, etc.

    Richard is wrong about Debussy's 'Le Mer', it is an orchestral piece that has nothing apart from having the same name of the popular song covered by James Darren. It is a French song written by Charles Trenet in the '50's, and his signature tune, covered by many French artists, and from memory Darren was the 1st English speaking artist to cover it.

    • @mallorybesom1717
      @mallorybesom1717 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right, of course, but wasn't it Bobby Darin who did the cover in English? James Darren slightly later.

      Very interesting! Nice job and thanks for pointing that out!
      When he said that, I was thinking 🤔 '...how did we get from Debussy to Bobby Darin? La Mer is a classical piece....and Bobby Darin is a crooner....so, how are the two related? There's no way *_Beyond the Sea_* is some kind of Debussy cover. That can't be correct... right?'
      I saw your post and thought "Thank you! I knew it!"....then verified it, after I realized I just accept your post at face value 🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️😄
      You're, obviously, correct....
      ...and (perhaps its just me?) I can easily see where the confusion is.... but, then again, I can't really understand how one would make a mistake like that, trivial as it is.
      I mean, I get that La Mer means "The Sea" ....but going from *_Debussy_* to _Bobby Darin_ ....well, that makes zero sense (in my mind...and perhaps it's because I have a musical background).
      To me, it is a bit like saying: "Vivaldi composed the masterful works 'The Four Seasons'....which later inspired Frankie Valli, when he named his group 'The Four Seasons'"
      ....🤔 😂
      For reference: Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons got the group name from the name of a bowling alley. 😂
      ....maybe it's just me that thought the connection between the artists was nonexistent, based soley on their style of music? 😂 Seems like you knew the information.
      It just "felt wrong" to me. (read as: I don't know -shit- about -shit- ) 😂

    What? Neither Vanuatu nor Kiribati nor Tuvalu were pointless, but Nauru was? Interesting. Also wouldn't have thought that Webern was less known than Humperdinck or most of the others. He's mentioned in any music history under Second Viennese School, early twentieth century etc. I think that's even commonly taught in schools.
