If I was in the polling group I would absolutely give the stupidest answers I could just to hear Richard read them out. I did it in a school quiz once, when they asked the names of the NInja Turtles, I said John Paul George and Ringo. They read it out
if youre gonna go for the "the symbol isnt the same as its name in English" logic, at least go with Silver rather than Gold, because even if Gold is Au, the first two letters of Gold is also in alphabetical order so even people thinking it might be "Go" or something would say it, whereas Silver (Ag) does not have its two first letters in alphabetical order. Would probably still be too high scoring, but still... if you're going with that logic anyway, think it a bit through
Surprised Richard didn't pronounce Francium… like France. Suppose he really hadn't heard of it. Had Flerovium and Nobelium, but would've guessed there would be more pointless answers.
Richard pronouncing Asian words is the funniest. Watching this from Australia is interesting because we learn so much about Asia due to geography but the answers pertaining to Asia often have low scores, whereas I can't answer a good chunk of the questions about Europe.
Brilliant 👏
