STOP BY MKINGU NATURE FOREST RESERVES “Sights and scenes of the Eastern Arc Mountains”

- Location;
Mkingu Nature Forest Reserve, located in Mvomero District - Morogoro Region covers an area of 26,433ha. The reserve is the largest block of forest of Nguru Mountain with amazing scenic features of mountain peaks characterized with waterfalls from all angles of view.
Ecotourism attractions;
The reserve is graced with attractive scenery of Mountain peaks of Mnesa, Gonja, Mkindo and Mndela with magnificent waterfalls at Chazi, Ubiri, Divue, Dibohelo, Lusingiso, Dikuyu and Diwale. There are natural caves at Malolo, Makunguru, Mhango, Mnimbo, Kwechifuko, Pangai, Kwamanakadege and Mabuga. Other attractions are natural ponds, Mkindo River, underground river at Montori and Matumu that forms an appealing feature for nature exploration and beautiful forests. There are also Chief Kingalu’s worshiping areas and Old German Boma.
Ecotourism Activities
The forest reserve provides hiking/trekking, forest walk, game viewing, swimming, cultural and traditional experience, and research and educational tours.
Accessibility
The area can be accessed by road from Morogoro Municipality via Madizini village to Mhonda about 118km, the second route is from Morogoro to Maskati via Ndole 120km.
Other tourist attractions found near Mkingu Nature Forest Reserve are Uzigua Nature Forest Forest Reserve and Wami Mbiki Game Reserve.

Accommodation is available at Madizini and Morogoro Municipality, several camping sites are available in the reserve.
