All of the"rules" seem like too much. Rest days are ok. Sick days are mandatory for restoring your health. We are under extreme heat advisory so the only safe outdoor activity is swimming, which I don't have easy access to.

Definitely, the guy who invented it is all about yelling and being "extreme" and criticizing everyone who doesn't agree with him so... I've been surprised to see it take off among younger women on TikTok

Jaime, I’ve been on this fitness journey with you for a while now, discovered Caroline through your channel, just passed my one year anniversary of regularly following her TH-cam programs! Two things: appreciated your comment on it being ok to not perfectly follow along in real time if you need extra rest days or are sick, that is too much pressure to stay consistent. Also I hope you will buy yourself more weights! It’s worth it. I’ve invested now in 8,10,12,15,20,25 lbs ! I use them all in Caroline’s workouts when I think how much I save on a gym membership the cost washes out. Love ya!!

For romance books…if you haven’t read Emily Henry, you MUST! 😍 she is so funny and her characters always feel so real. “Book Lovers” and “People We Meet on Vacation” are my favorites but she has a new one out that I’m excited to read soon!
A few other random books that were wins for me this year are “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine,” “I Capture the Castle,” “A Fall of Marigolds” (tough read at times but v good), “The Good Sister” and “The Mother in Law” (domestic thriller type books), and “A Gentleman in Moscow.” Happy reading with whatever you choose next! ☺️♥️

I ended up buying a dumbbell rack after a few months with Sydney. The weights on it are 3, 5, 7, 10, 12 and 15kg. It's a pyramid style rack so doesn't take up too much space. It was an excellent purchase because it gave me the chance to increase weights if I wanted to try to.

I agree with your thoughts on 75 hard. There are plenty of other ways to build mental fortitude without punishing and depriving your body. I think your approach is very reasonable, and all the better because it's tailored to suit you and you alone.
When you are done with the current Caroline Girvan program, I would love some more content about how your workout weeks look when you are not following a challenge/program. After following weekly or monthly programs by different fitness instructors, I've found that I prefer picking and choosing my own workouts and I'm trying to make sure they are well rounded. Thanks!

Not sure if they'll interest you but here are some books that I loved reading :
    - Survivor's Guilt by Robyn Gigl, is the second in the series but can be read without the first one as I did since I didn't even though it was part of a book series.
    - The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell, tells the povs of three different characters, and one is set in the past, all connecting to a mansion.
    - The Favor by Nora Murphy, is about 2 women who have similar lives but have never met until one decides to learn more about the other.
    - The Cage by Bonnie Kistler, 2 women go into an elevator together but only one comes out alive with the rest of the story explains how it led up to that point and even afterward.
    - They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera, pretty sad but written beautifully and totally worth it.
    - In Five Years by Rebecca Serle, the main character gets to see her life in the future for a bit but then wakes up to present time, involves a lovely friendship.
    - The Perfect Place to Die by Bryce Moore, a young girl's sister suddenly stops writing and after months, she decides to find out what happened to her sister even though all she ever knew was her homeland.
Many suggestions with very brief descriptions so if any sound interesting please look at the actual summary just in case that might intrigue you more.

For sure agree to the no starting over, only a pause for a day or days you for whatever reason can’t complete. Also with the outside workout one if the weather or in this case air doesn’t allow you to be outside than it’s not under your control and that’s not a reason to start over.

to that person who messaged you on insta saying how they felt guilty for resting: i felt the same way. i started one of caroline's programs last november but as the holidays rolled by and a move happened, i only recently started again (maybe around april-ish) and i felt so guilty. but looking back, and after watching a couple of your videos, i've slowly learned that my pause was alright and deserved. thank you for being such a positive role model in our journeys, jaime!

For books, I'm a sucker for Ali Hazelwood. The Love Hypothesis has become one of my favorite books, I reread it at least once a year now! The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston and The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen are also great reads (especially as we're coming up on fall and spooky season!)!!
Also have you heard of Kit Rich? She is one of my favorite fitness trainers and her workouts are killers! I definitely recommend checking her out! She's great!!

im also in a romance phase. I've been reading so many romance novels for the past few years ever since the hating game came out. It's def the tropes that get you sucked in. My current favorite trope is unrequited love where the girl likes a guy, and the guy is oblivious. but i specifically like the ones when the main guy love interest, who's super handsome and popular, under-appreciates the main girl love interest and is like "there's no way i would ever fall for a girl like you (either because they've been in the best friend zone, or that she's not usually the type he goes with)". but later on he eats his words and ends up falling even harder than the girl and has to convince her that he also loves her! the ones that i've read that are kinda like that are Right Move by Liz Tomforde, Huge Deal by Lauren Layne, The Duke and the WallFlower by Jessie Cleaver, Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey,
Also, you should invest in adjustable dumbbells 💪.you’ll have the freedom to adjust to weights you feel is appropriate to your workout, rather than limit yourself. For me, I had the same issue where I needed weights in between the ones I already had, but I kept putting off buying them. Plus, I was having to search for heavier dumbbells more often. the heavier the dumbbells, the more expensive they get. I know you can increase the intensity for smaller weights by increasing reps or speed. But I felt like I was stunting my progress in strength without the options. So in the long run, I saved like $100 just from buying the adjustable set. Before the adjustables, I’d never thought I would ever be reaching the 40s lb weights. But every now and then, I would hype myself to a challenge and try to do a rep in the higher weights just to see what I’m capable of. And honestly, it’s so motivating to see that I am progressing in strength and it’s been really great for my confidence.

    • @jaimefok
      @jaimefok  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i love that!
and yeah, adjustable might be the way to go - will continue keeping a lookout :P

Jamie I am disappointed with Caroline she said she would post on You Tube once in a while and hasn't since she made the app. I really feel everything is just a guide including influencers. Ofcourse you aren't doing a 45 minute workout when your country is on fire please stay safe. As for exercising when sick just listen to your body. I wanted to exercise in 2022 when I had Covid and so grateful to the nurses for convincing me it is fine to rest when sick. I would like you to so STF latest challenge next but I guess it depends what comes up next since it it almost over. I do the best I can with this challenge knowing I am 2 times her age with Arthritis and just because she says to increase my weights it is fine to just do bodyweight and skip the burpees and I am proud of myself for staying moving even if I am marching in place instead of doing burpees.

It’s definitely gotten better now, thank goodness! Felt terrible trying to go outside for fresh air and then realizing it’s all just smoky outside.

Better help is awful. They took my friends money without even helping. I know someone else too that they were awful to. It’s not just me saying this it’s all over tik tok. Please don’t use them.

i'm so sorry to hear that! i have only had great experiences with BetterHelp - my therapist genuinely helped me through a really rough time last year. could be the therapist assigned wasn't the right match for your friends?

@@jaimefok no the one the she had was awful. Made her feel judged and even cut their therapy short even though she had paid for a full hour. Another person didn’t even have a chance to find one when they took all his money. There are more stories on tik tok. They are not good people.

75 hard DOES NOT SUCK. I don't think you went into it with the correct attitude. Yes 75 hard is set up for you to fail. That is the whole point. It's HARD. and you fail. The point of 75 hard is to start again. Not quit. It's super frustrating listening to you discount this because it's not something you enjoy or want to do. If you do 75 hard and miss a day you DO FAIL. because that's the challenge. That doesn't mean you can't pick up the next day and keep going. It just means you are not doing 75 hard. I can be both and neither. If you want to follow your own version that's great just don't call it 75 hard. It's that simple. Don't discount the people that do do it and follow the rules and finish it. Don't make them feel less than for taking on a challenge they want to do because you don't want to.

That is precisely why I am calling my version “75 soft” or “75 Jaime”. I explained all this in my previous video and also mentioned that this challenge can work for some people.
I’m just saying, for the majority of people - something like this isn’t going to work, and may cause more mental harm than good.
As someone who grew up in a very intense, competitive and restrictive environment- yes, the original challenge does indeed suck for me.
I share my personal journey on my channel here. It’s ok to disagree but it doesn’t mean either of us are right or wrong. It’s just a difference in opinion. I think it sucks, and you don’t. It’s ok!
