    This interview was one of the best. This guy was coherent and didn't blame anyone but himself for his lifestyle. He explained how the drugs he used and sold worked. It's refreshing to see someone that came out on the other side after years of drug use.

      I went to my first dead show expecting a party, and it for sure was, but more than that, it was almost like church, but the way church is supposed to be, not the way church is now (the one's I've been to, anyway). I cannot be more thankful for the mistakes that the insight helped me to avoid, even if it was at times painful to confront in the moment.

I'm sure there are people who end up wasted on it, but I have a feeling its people who want to end up wasted on it for some reason. In other words those who believe the propaganda and or have boucoup psych issues. Philip is so surprising for his lack of ego, he was so far up the food chain that he was practically the El padrone of acid, but doesn't act like he ran the parties and stuff although I'm sure sometimes, he probably did. Not trying LSD or similiar psychedelic at least once, to me, is the equivalent of never leaving your hometown your entire life. Its very sad that people miss out on this incredible human experience.
    Edit:
    1. OBVIOUSLY you shouldnt try it if you have mental health issues.
    2. 98% of "bad trips" are caused by, either the reason above, or people being reckless and making stupid decisions. If you take 3 whole tabs at a party full of strangers, for your first time, after you just broke up with girlfriend, thats your fault for being a dumbass. Not the compound. Have some basic sense and respect.
    3. You can enjoy psychedelics without going balls to the wall. Just like you can enjoy a cocktail or two instead of chugging an entire bottle of vodka. You take 1/3 of a hit of acid and have a nice mellow, controllable time.
    If you're not an idiot or mentally ill, theres an astronomically high chance that you have will have positive, often life changing experience on psychedelics.

    Psychedelics are a big part of why I'm still alive today.
    The insight it gave me into my psyche , my behavioural patterns , my thought patterns , the feeling of experiencing an entity larger and more complex and connected than anything i could ever imagine ...

    The saddest part about being exiled and doing LSD is the fact that LSD shows you that you are entirely resposible for every choice you've made. The only thing that matters is your family. It sounds crazy but that "Drug" has quite a few messages in it.

    • @dtsyt82
      @dtsyt82 3 ปีที่แล้ว +131

      Part of the reason people say it's a mind-expanding drug is because hallucinogens allow the brain to rewire itself and form new connections that wouldn't happen under normal circumstances. This is why there can be such a profound shift in perspective when confronting an issue such as childhood trauma, etc. There is so much potential in psychedelic drugs and we're just now beginning to understand the value they can hold outside of a recreational setting.

    • @ericmurray8789
      @ericmurray8789 3 ปีที่แล้ว +79

      The drug didn't have any message in it that wasn't already in your brain.

    • @calebhohneke8482
      @calebhohneke8482 3 ปีที่แล้ว +86

      @@ericmurray8789 Very true. But it also helps you reveal that message. That's why individuals should seriously consider whether to take it or not if they are going through a rough time as thoughts/worries they are trying to suppress will come to the forefront....and in that assembly of chaotic thoughts, a pathway tends to reveal itself to you on how to address those situations and resolve them.
      The brain tends to shut out anything that is considered too stressful to the point of where it will create a mental overload. LSD lowers those gates. That's why I think it could be a great "drug" for mental health issues as it would help a person fight their demons and potentially change their life. It certainly showed me a lot personally.

    tbh, acid is probably the reason i'm still around to this day. It's such a powerful antidepressant, but not always in the same way. Sometimes you have to come face to face with what's in your mind and that's really the most accessible way to do that. no filter. not even to yourself. I'm autistic AF, so most feelings i end up having to sit and decipher and figure out slowly. with acid it's "oh, that's what that is. that's why i feel this way. that's what's going on." Usually tho, it's just a big happy euphoric, "why is everything funny?" "why is stuff moving?" "i love these trees" tho. There's also that huge seratonin thing, which happens to be lacking in people with chronic depression. Idk, a trip every 2-3 months ends up being that mental reset that can separate you from that cliff more often than i'd like to admit.

    Phillip. I'm so sorry about your Mom. My mom's mother lost both breasts to breast cancer (seperate incidents). She died of an unrelated anurism. My mom is on her 3rd bout of breast cancer, had 2 lump tumor removals, and has polyps she's awaiting to get removed (don't know if I spelled it right) as well. She's had skin cancer in the past two. It is really hard watching your mother struggle with things like this. I'm so fortunate my Mom turns 68 in a few months. I so hope her life is longer than she thinks it will be. I want to urge everyone who reads this to get your breast exams, colon checkups (lost my dad's dad to bowel cancer), and all your checkups your supposed too. This stuff is serious. Life is precious. Catching things early can save ALOT of pain and possibly your life. Thank you for the great interview Phillip. 🎀 Couldn't find a pink ribbon to put up but let's pretend this one is to honor Phil's mom and everyone else gone or still fighting or in remission.

    He hit the nail on the head when he said the church/religion got in the way of parenting. A lot of parents think they're doing the right thing by raising their kids in a strict religious way but too often it does way more harm than good. So many people would be great parents if they'd just raise their kids with love and have open conversations about life choices... the kids would turn out so much better.
    My mom had so much potential to be a great mom but the religion took over and ruined everything.
    At the end of her life I think she might realize it's better to have an unconditionally loving relationship with a daughter/son you don't agree with than to not have one at all.
    One day she might look back and go "ohhh... I kinda missed the point there".
    I hope so anyway.

After all the stories of the drugs and experiences he had, the one regret he mentioned (and the one time he got emotional) was over having a relationship with his family. I really hope he is able to make a real connection with them soon and that they (his family) realize it's OK to be different and still be a close member of a family. If you read this Philip...good luck to you and I really don't think you have anything to regret in your choices and your lifestyle. I hope (and pray) your family is open enough to allow you back into the 'family fold' and accepts that you are who you are and being who you are is acceptable and that accepting others for who they are IS the core teaching of almost all religions.

      @@playgroundofsound7683 A thumbprint is basically just a massively irresponsible dose of LSD, it comes from the idea that you dont really dose it out but you put your thumb on pure lsd crystal and take the dose off your thumb. To put it into perspective, a standard dose of lsd is about 100 micrograms, a microgram is 1/1000 of a mg. A thumbprint dose will easily be a few mg of acid. So a lot of the horror stories your hear surrounding lsd are from people who were miseducated about the substance and took a massive dose that inevitably sends them into a drug induced psychosis. Acid can be a truly transformative substance but we need to teach individuals how to use it safely rather than teaching abstinence.

My crystal was greyish and was the cheapest in the market and manufactured in the Netherland. quality was around 70-80% and I do not had any body loads from it.

    At 68, I started doing psychedelics probably in 1970. The first time was in a park. I took a hit of Purple Mescaline with a friend. We waited about 50 minutes & nothing was happening, then another dealer came by with some Pink Tab T. So we took that, then about 5 minutes later the Mescaline kicked in. It was quite the day & night as a 15 year old. I loved it. After that I was hooked. I ate acid or some kind of hallucinogenic almost every day, some times twice. After 300 trips I lost count. All was good until the Angel Dust raised it's ugly head. That was the end of the line for me for some time. Later I dabbled in a little Coke, but the MDA & Mushrooms were still the best. Now it's generally just good herb & gummies along with Shrooms if around.

    Apart from the Mormon thing I’m feeling this guy. I’m in my 40s and now sober from all non prescribed drugs for about 5 years. Started at about 12. The main difference is that I was using all sorts throughout that time. It started as fun, but soon became just what I did. Then in my early 30,s I started realising some negative effects. Took a while to stop completely and turn my whole lifestyle around. The bit where he said when he was dealing he had loads of friends, then when he stopped he was left with only a few. Thing is when you only got you to offer the people still around a real friends not associates.
    To me that whole lifestyle was trying to escape reality, but reality will always catch up. Make your reality as positive as you can for you and all around you. Let go the ego and you can find peace.

    This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. So unfortunate that this next generation didn't have anything like the dead to relate to and spend their youth having good clean fun. I quit going because in 93/94 it started getting too much like phish shows. Cops, bad drugs, not the greatest people coming and trying to capitalize and the Allman Brothers were killing it and low key. RIP all the musicians and crew that have so many of us a church to go to and find ourselves as youth.
