Ever since the Academy gave best picture to the obviously inferior Shakespeare in Love over Saving Private Ryan, I stopped trusting that the Academy can ever get it right. It is the same kind of injustice done to Thomas Newman. The 1998 ceremony was the last time I ever watched the Academy Awards.
I almost cried during this scene, to think two of the most opposite people from two completely opposite nations got along and were able to part ways in a trade which the same thing for the other nation occurred,(soviets were rough with prisoners I know). It shows humans aren’t programmed to be something, they have their own mindset and make their own choices, this shows that no matter what, humans are people and not machines. A quick second example of human beings showing that they are still humans is the Christmas truce of ww1
I just watched this incredible movie, and loved the music. I know it's been there for awhile but I never got around to watching it. I'm so glad I did. Thank you for sharing. I was so affected by the message of hope and triumph, and although just a movie, I am reminded of what God promises us someday. And the lion will lay down with the Lamb. Peace is good. ❤🙏🇺🇸🙏

And I love a good movie that leaves you thinking what could have happened to those young people or what did happen to the young people while listening to the ending song. Especially in their sacrifice for our country! It brings a mix of sadness and joyfull tear to my eye..

There are other scores that I like better overall. Pirates of the Caribbean...the Patriot...But I don't think there are any individual tracks on any soundtrack album that I love more than this one. Truly a masterpiece.

The last 30 minutes of this movie are so perfect. From the bridge exchange to his bedroom. I really love this Spielberg.
