This Is What Winter Fishing Is All About! Big Bass And Good Fun!

- Come along for an awesome day on the water with the Tactical Crew! The air temps are 16 degrees at the boat ramp but that won't stop the guys from catching fish! Tim starts the day off solo and dials in a great pattern, fishing flats near moving water. When Matt arrives the duo steps it up and catches some really nice fish!
We talk a lot about how fun Winter bass fishing can be. This is such a great example! The air is cold, but the boat is full of laughs and big fish. Don't be afraid to fish when the weather dips below freezing. It's all about layering up with the right clothing to be comfortable so that you're focused on fish catching instead of the temperature.
Below you'll find links to all the baits the guys were throwing today. We've included the exact sizes, colors, as well as the rod and reel combos they were using. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

I’m over here back lashing somebody else’s stuff 😂 great video guys 🤙🏽🎣 Thank you
That is the best line I have heard in a while! 😂😂
😂😂😂
Shots fired during a Tactical Bass video, reminds me of the old intro 😂
@ reminds me of one of my favorite lakes in N.C., there’s a fun range adjacent to the lake.
love watching you two fish together
I so wish that my water Temps around were I live were that warm. Unfortunately where I live everything is frozen, lakes, ponds, rivers, exc. Painfully have to wait for spring time. Chomping at the bit. Keep up the good work.
Really enjoyed the uncut banter from about 12:40 on for a few minutes while Matt was fishing and Tim was just chilling; it’s cool to see you two dudes just chatting and vibing. I’d love to see more of that kind of content! Was nice to hear you two talking like bros like that! Love the dynamic and it feels like we’re just along for the ride! Keep going, brothas!! 🙂🙌🏼
Always great seeing buddies fish together.
Love it that you guys get out in winter and cold temps. The fish will still bite as you have shown. Thanks for the video! 👍
Saw Tim at Dicks up in Knoxville a week or so ago. Super nice, normal dude doing what I was doing, gearing up for youth baseball this year! Haha. Question we always ask, Tim and Matt fish against each other in a standard 5 fish format, who wins most out of 5 tournaments? That would be a great video.
make me smile when I see you guys always picking up an expride, best bang for the buck besides dobyns!
Matt wearing olukai slippers to fish is classic Matt. But does he have socks on?
Always feels warmer when your catching fish! Really enjoyable video. Thanks, I needed this .
It's a happy day here in Michigan. High 30's. We couldn't break -4° for a few days it's slowly been "warming" up. This will be nice. And a tacticalbassin video on top of it 🙏. Thanks for getting out there for us guys! One question is, is kepping your rods in the garage or shed during the winter bad for them when it gets cold out?
Refreshing seeing two long life friends supporting each other and having laughs! Great video!
Thanks!
Hahaha backlashing somebody else's stuff, that was too funny, great video
You guys are the best!!
50 days till spring 🐟🎣🙌👏
You guys are the best. Fun video Thanks
Come on be a turtle , be a turtle !! 😂😂😂
Good day of catching. Yall make it look easy. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@10:43 when Matt swings and says "GOT'EM!" IDK how Tim didn't instantly say
"In the mouth?"
😂
Awesome video as always. You guys caught some really nice fish
This one was a lot of fun thanks guys.
Now you feel our pain!!! Lol
Great video guys thanks
Matt, does it ever feel like it’s “too easy” for you with that A-rig? 🤣😆.
Ask Alex the beard…
Sometimes when you pick up those guys, the bite stops…lol
Yeah buddy..great video❤👍
I've never fished a Arig but I'm going to try it this year and was wondering what to throw it on?
Gun shot after gunshot 😂
Good video. I hate an A rig. Stay warm!!
Matt is wearing shoes 😮😮
Looks almost like a full moon in the sky
Nice one on the a rig
I wish we had open water
Question.... does a soft jerk bait work in place of a hard one? Twitches with long pauses? Haven't yet invested in the hard baits. Thanks for all your inspiration. Keep up the great work!
Do you guys ever find that in lakes sourrounded by tullies, they will stay up in their even in winter?
Sounds just like my home lakes of south holston and Watauga, I know you guys have been on those lakes at some point. Both have shooting ranges near them and it's all you hear while you're fishing. Luckily I've never had to me what happened to the guy on Cherokee here lately. Guy had a bullet fly by his head by inches from some punks shooting across the lake.
I didn’t want to say it but…there ain’t nothing wrong with catching the kitty in reverse 😂 js 🤷🏻♂️ 5:15
Where I live “getting out on the water” means walking out on the ice and drilling some holes
What makes that Shimano expride rod for rigs some much better than others? Is it the length, materials of rod etc? Just curious😎✌️
Not much longer boys, I know it’s January still in Minnesota but we are on the short end.
50 day's till spring 🎣🙌🙌🐟
Is that the moon in the shy, what time a day is it?
Big difference between 46 and 36 water temps i dont even think of 46 as being winter.😂😂😂😂
What hoodie are you wearing Tim??
Can you use straight braid on an A rig?
What hooks do you guys use to replace those 110 junior hooks?
Would that expride 7'7 heavy be a good S waver 168 rod or would it be too stiff for treble hooks
For speed cranking, does the gear ratio make a difference on Torque for how much power you have on the deeper crankbaits? Or is it just about speed? (For example a 6.2/1 you may have to go even faster, but is it easier to turn the handle than a 7.5/1?)
yes, alot of dudes like deep cranking with lower gear ratios because it does indeed give you more torque and less strain on your arms and shoulders. the reason they use 7/1 ratios while deep cranking is for the speed, but itll wear on you if youre doing it all day. i almost always use 7/1 ratios for cranking, i just deal with the strain. it also may wear your reel down quicker. ive destroyed some of my cheaper reels' crank shafts and anti reverse bearings speed cranking.
Well the a rig didn’t fly off the first cast 😂.
I dont catch shit when the water temp drops below 50… respect from West Texas
It's good to see that yall still enjoy each other's company after all this time.
Man, I hate this time of year. It’s been 2 months since I’ve been able to fish for bass. Only 2 months from ice melting. 😴
First
Tim how do you deal with a icy ramp. Bassmd
Catfish backwards = Hsiftac
If it’s really comfortable, Matt, shouldn’t you be switching into your flip-flops?
If we were in my boat, they'd be on. No tackle, no back up flops 😂
@ 😝🤣
You know it's cold because they both have winter shoes instead of California sandals...
I don't feel your pain. It's not cold and it NEVER gets cold here.... in the U.S Virgin Islands.
Hey Matt, you gotta practice hookin' em in the mouth. Fouled hooking doesn't count. And, turn up the magnets just a bit, when using Tim's reel (he must have a more sensitive thumb than you) and you might not backlash as much.
Thanks for the entertainment guys.... a really great show!
In regards to the inexperienced, you need to explain how you are using those graphs to look for fish and target them. It does not appear that you are fancasting. Those who do not have that tech or are knowledgeable in their use are in the dark. Seeing the types of bait and the technique used is only part of the education.
Honestly, bait and technique are all you really need. Just hit the fishy spots, target laydowns, grass mats, gravel piles, etc..
The only reason I use my electronics is to find stuff, and not actual fish. Usually…..fish will be around stuff. lol😂😂❤❤
Learn to read water
@jman3ification
Kayaker, no electronics (can not afford it yet), no trolling motor, nor peddle drive. Just a paddle and alot of hard work. Actively working on reading the water, birds, etc.. It is a work in progress. Hence, the needed education.
@CapnPink28
These guys are experts, and they make it look so easy. Correct me if I am wrong, but the two main ingredients are locating the fish and presentation. IMO, there needs to be more live dialog to bring these two things together.
@WRATHOFTHELAMB61617 Keeping it very simple. Throw your bait in the water & not on the land. 😅
