I NEVER comment on these videos, but this one is just way too good. So informative with the power ratios, light setup as well as background and foreground exposure. I just HAD to say thank you for this video. Newbies (including myself) tend to overthink things which causes some of us to just forgo using flash/strobes. THANK YOU! From Austin, Texas!
Hi Mr Infante, it's me again ! I wanted to thank you again for this video (and the others, as I said, so inspiring ☺), because after seeing it , I wanted to try so much, and I did it !! I followed step by step the "Eli's Recipe" : location scouting, ambient exposure and then, adding a speedlight with a 32" softbox for my model, and it worked pretty well !! I'm very happy with the result, it could be better but for a first try, that was not so bad ! ☺ And as you said, I tried to shoot at 1/30s (EOS R6 Mii, RF 85mm 1.2 DS), I freaked out but with the IBIS and the flash, absolutely no problem ! To be honest, I would never have tried it if you hadn't mentioned it 😄 Thank you so much again, I really love to watch all your videos, I learned, and learn so much 👏🤩 Have a wonderful day !!
All your videos are soooo inspiring ! 🤩And I particularly love this one ! 👏Thanks a lot, greetings from a French amateur photographer living in Hungary 🙂
A Cook Book for night photography! Thank you. It's getting so damn hot here, time to wait and shoot outside at night when hopefully it's a little cooler. Any suggestions for adding colored gel lights to the background, when the dark background is otherwise uninteresting? Or maybe that's the subject for another video?
Nice vid, checks all the points. AD 200 though isn't much heavier than a speedlight but a bit more expensive, and thank God for ibis these days, very effective.
I'm a fan & love what you do but here's a challenge Eli, minimalism. 1- FJ80II with no softbox, a small modifier such as a MagMod Magsphere & a Maggrid, which would all take up very little room in a camera backpack or sling & a lightweight nano stand.
Great point! I just did a studio shoot with bare Speedlight hand held with no stand or extra gear. Results coming soon on my Instagram. Thanks for tuning in Ryan 😁
I love the compression you get for night portraits. If you have a big city environment, a 35mm would be great too. I live in a small city, so we don’t have those cool opportunities.
@@EliInfante Thanks for the reply. I'm already returning it and getting the fj800II lol I have another question about programs. Do you think I should by luminar AI or REtouch4me ?
Hi sir which is excellent or suitable these two lens for nikon d780 someone work it for studio photography 1=Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM, Black (212955) for Nikon 2=Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras
@@EliInfante It seems we don't understand each other. A faster shutter speed would have kept the arch lights bright and rich yellow, and would have removed the overexposure effect.

I love the modeling light at night. It’s a lifesaver when trying to get your focus.
Absolutely! ❤️
Excellent work, ty! Could I trouble you to ask exactly which light stand you were using in this video? 🤔😁
Strobe Pro stand

Yesterday I watched the Off Camera Flash Portrait video you did with B&H Photo. The whole thing was amazing! Thanks so much for sharing!
You’re welcome Mike! I appreciate you watching and supporting ❤️
superb video - thanks

Thank you so much!
Thanks for keeping it simple! I'm kinda intimidated by flash photography, but you just explained plain and simple!
That’s always my goal Kevin! Thanks for tuning in. Have a great day 😁
Great video very helpful. I will use a lot of this since I am just trying to get into portraits.
@@movelarde7551 I appreciate it! Have a great one and let me know if you need help. 😁
Awesome content as usual Eli!

Great Video!!!
Thanks Martin! Have a great day ☀️
Is that softbox white or silver on the interior?
White
Is a speed light enough for group photos or would you use a strobe instead
Depends on the modifier. I would be more comfortable with a 200 watt strobe.

Christmas in June!? I'm here for it :)
Hahaha I know 🤣🎄

Thank you! AD 200 is great! 😁
What a chingon video Vato!!! LOL Loved it. Going to attempt it with my senior gals Friday. Listen why wouldn't u use an AD600 or an AD300?
Thanks, Melda! 600 would be too much power in low light.
And the 300 ?
YES!!! Missed your videos, bro! I hope you're doing well 🙌
Appreciate it bro! Life is good I’m on summer break so relaxing and catching up things. Looks like everything is good with you! Happy you for you 🙌🏻
Apologies for the silly question but how do you trigger both lights at the same time?
When using flash it has a wireless transmitter to send the signal.

Hi sir, I have a question, putting the bottom of the softbox on shoulder level, what is the intention and does it apply for full body portraits also?
It depends on the size of the modifier.
@EliInfante okay, what is the intention on putting it on shoulder level?
I like the light I get on the subject. Keep in mind you can place it wherever you want 😁
Why do you recommend shooting at high focal lengths?
I love the compression you get for night portraits. If you have a big city environment, a 35mm would be great too. I live in a small city, so we don’t have those cool opportunities.
Ugh i didnt know the fj80se modeling lamp gets blocked! Now i gotta return it. There is no work around ?
@@ThegoldengodTrini It's fine if you shoot events, but if you're putting it in a softbox, you're better off with the FJ80 II version.
@@EliInfante Thanks for the reply. I'm already returning it and getting the fj800II lol I have another question about programs. Do you think I should by luminar AI or REtouch4me ?
@@ThegoldengodTrini I haven't used Luminar AI so its not a fair question for me. I have used Retouch4Me and I love it.
GN guide number divide distant equal to distant then reduce or increase your power. Or old school use a flash meter

Was thinking of buying the FJ400. Now i feel like buying this 80
@@Pacojerte2022 If you do buy use my code Eli1023 at the official Westcott website to save 🙌🏻
I could never hold my camera still enough to utilize such shutter speeds.
Hahaha I understand as I mentioned increase that ISO to compensate 😁
Can I use a tripod?

Gracias for ( All The Fart )

00:24 background overexposed
There were too many lights and it was bright 😢
@@EliInfante No, it's not the brightness of the lights, but the wrong shutter speed.
@@EliInfante A shutter speed of 1/160 would have completely saved the situation.
@@Strravaganza I didn’t want to expose for those lights or my background would have been all black. 😁
