Cersei top 3 Looney Tunes moments:
    3. Handmaiden shrinking dresses situation.
    2. Thinking Tyrion and Varis were hiding in the most obscure places through out the whole book, to then, when it is probably ACTUALLY Varis in the walls, she thinks it’s rats.
    1. Refusing to allow Lolis’ kid to be named Tywin. Then wanting to assassinate Bron because he named the kid Tyrion. Then accidentally making him a lord by botching the assassination.
    Comedy it it’s finest.

Yeah, Cersei's main advantage is that she knows how to hide her stupidity and her stupidity along with her unpredictability gets results.
The nobles just think "There's no way she can be so delusional and stupid" and Cersei takes advantage of that and makes her moves (hurting her own position more in the process). But yeah, once the masks are off and the person is well aware of who she really is, Cersei can't do anything about it and becomes useless. Take Kevan for example - he realized how stupid Cersei was, so he had little problems handling her, enough that Varys had to step in and remove Kevan so that Cersei could continue to wreak havoc and dig a grave for herself, her family, and the Tyrells and the Kingdom. She is literally a monkey with a grenade.

In Cersei VII (My favorite chapter of all time) Cersei says “Balon Greyjoy offered my father an alliance. Perhaps his son has offered one to Stannis.” Implying that she either believes Theon is in a position to be able to do such a thing….. Cersei's chapters are so full of little hypocrisies and lack of self-awareness and self-reflection and its just so hilarious. I swear, every page if not paragraph has some hypocritical kernel.
When Jaime doesn't know a kinda obscure historical dude, Cersei thinks "He is near as ignorant as Robert." (Cersei III AFfC). When Cersei doesn't know some pretty important history, she confidently bowls on, to her eventual peril "Cersei had no idea what Jaehaerys the Conciliator might have sworn. "He did," she agreed" (Cersei VI AFfC)
Cersei never felt grief for Robert, her reaction to finding out Tywin is dead is not at all sad: "There will be no more talk of forcing me to wed again. Casterly Rock was hers now, and all the power of House Lannister" (Cersei I AFfC) but when Margaery, who barely knew Joffrey, isn't grieving? How dare she! "Margaery should be mourning Joffrey, not marrying his brother. She should be as sick with grief as I am" (Cersei III AFfC)
When Margaery thinks about doing violence to her septa captors, Cersei is gleeful: "A shame you did not do it, Cersei thought. Blinding some poor old septa would certainly persuade the High Sparrow of your guilt" (Cersei X AFfC), but 5 seconds later, when the High Septon tries to arrest her, Cersei pushes him, knocks over an old septa, claws another in the face and kicks others as they drag her to her cell.
Cersei spends her PoVs endlessly bashing women, then when she's in her cell, she tries "appealing to the natural sympathy of one woman for another".
After Cersei, an adulterous queen who frames Margaery for adultery by sleeping with Osney, gets arrested for adultery, you'd think she'd take a moment to reflect on all her mistakes, but oh no - "False friends, treacherous servants, men who had professed undying love, even her own blood … all of them had deserted her in her hour of need" (Cersei I ADwD)
When confronted with something she doesn't like, Cersei's instinct is to throw wine in people's faces (Kevan in Cersei II AFfC; Jaime in Jaime II AFfC; she wants to do it to the wedding guests in Cersei III AFfC), and when that's not available, she tends to slap them (Ned in Eddard XII; Tyrion twice in Tyrion I ACoK; Tyrion in Tyrion V ACoK; Jaime in Cersei I AFfC; Jaime in Jaime III AFfC)
She's simply the absolute worst and its great to see her downfall.

Kevan might seem just a Yes-man to Tywin. He kind of is, but only because Tywin has earned his position as the head of House Lannister. There's even a theory that Kevan has largely been the "brains" of the Lannister faction, with Tywin being the front-man (who obviously isn't stupid, but knows to listen to his brother.)
One example of either case is Kevan explaining that Jaime didn't screw up when he divided his army into three, and that was the only way to siege Riverrun- the castle is located in the middle of a river confluence.

Like supporting a king with literally 0 claim, talking about how they will butcher the Lannister, then flip to the Lannisters semingly purely out of opportunism and marrying Margaery to Joffrey, while planning to kill him.

I think it’s fair to say Cersei, up until this point, has had to play aggro in the Game of Thrones because otherwise she will get sidelined the moment it becomes convenient. Basically the second the King dies she’s gotta fight to not just be sent home to Casterly Rock and married off to someone else. Her playbook doesn’t change between the first three books and Feast; she just loses the balancing forces that reacted to her big moves and kept things in line.
Like I think she’s missing a Tyrion style reactive schemer to keep her plots in balance; I don’t think its a coincidence that Cersei starts to regain her footing back when being forced to challenge the Faith’s power grab (admittedly the very early stages now, but still), and simultaneously Tyrion was playing the follower so much he ended up a slave in Meereen until he took action to poison his handler and retake control of his life.

If Tyrion is Tywin writ small, Cersei is Tywin as a women. It's typical of George to have the two kids Tywin hated being the two that most take after him while the only one Tywin even remotely cared for basically told him to fuck off.
A lot of people will hear me compare Cersei to Tywin and be shocked. "Tywin is smart" some may say, but no, show Tywin was smart. Book Tywin is an idiot. 90% of the problems the remaoning Lannisters face in Feast and Dance are directly because of Tywin.
Myrcella getting cut is caused by Tywin. All of the fallout from the Red Wedding, Tywin's fault. The Sparrows are Tywin's fault. Cersei being a misogynist and paranoid is Tywin's fault. Tyrion getting framed for the murder, banished, and suffering are all Tywin's fault.
Tywin was hand for months leading up to his death and did nothing but make the realm worse and his heir hate him. His death was entirely his own fault.
And because Tywin was dumb as shit, he could never rule through anything besides fear. He is like Walder Frey, but instead of a single bridge, Tywin owns literally the biggest gold mines (plural, the lannisters have several) in the entire world.
Cersei fucked herself over big time. This video is proof. She is delusional, paranoid, and misogynistic, and it all leads to hair poorly thought-out plots that only serve to make the situation worse. But she shares Tywin's innate lack of long-term planning.
I've never seen two characters with such lack of foresight

I don't think Tywin is stupid. He's just cruel and machiavellian. He made the realm worse for the commons, but it was never his intention to improve their lives. His goal has always been to improve the position of House Lannister, and I think he achieved that through his cruel schemes. Yes, his achievements didn't outlast him, but I don't thibk it was due to a lack of intelligence, but to a lack of empathy and human decency.
Imo, the takeaway is that Tywin's method (rule through fear), even if it is efficient in the short term, will not cause a lasting impact on the world, whilst Ned's method (rule through love and honor) will. Just look how almost everyone in the North is willing to do whatever they can to help his children.

There's so many great quotes to choose between, but I think my favorite Cersei moment is:
It came back to her that Margaery and her hideous grandmother had once plotted to marry Sansa Stark to the little queen's crippled brother Willas. Lord Tywin had forestalled that by stealing a march on them and wedding Sansa to Tyrion, but the link had been there. They are all in it together, she realized with a start. The Tyrells bribed the gaolers to free Tyrion, and whisked him down the roseroad to join his vile bride. By now the both of them are safe in Highgarden, hidden away behind a wall of roses
Yep Cersei, that totally definitely makes complete sense 😆

    I wonder how many people would die if "every time Cersei was wrong" was turned into a drinking game? ^^;

With Cersei IX, i always saw all the accusations she was throwing at Pycelle as a way to fluster him and make him nervous so he would tell her why he was calling on Margery. It's one of her better moments of guille in Feast if only she didn't follow it up with her silly little plan

I know you are probably going to make a “every mistake dany makes” vid but I would love to see the opposite, a every mistake the free cities/slavers make
Especially in the Tyrion sample chapter we see the commander making mistake after mistake, like sending cavalry against ships or telling brown Ben about tatters betrayal

No plans to do one of these for Dany - if anything, i'd like to write something of a defense of her chapters and actions in Dance, all of which i feel are way overhated.

Cersei's chapters are my favourite in ASOIAF. She is hilariously delusional and so tragically damaged. This was a great video. The only mistake I'd add is her paranoia and narcissism leading her to believe that Jaime is also her enemy. Like with Kevan Jaime offers her good counsel. But she dismisses Jaime as ignorant much like she dismisses Kevan's diplomacy for treachery. I don't really blame her when Jaime spouts nonsense like being a couple openly. Also she not only emotionally harms Tommen but alienates him, ironically something else she blames Margaery for

Eh... Sometimes it was good, other times not so much.
Edit - Upon reading someone else's comment, I agree that when her performances fell flat, it was mostly due to the writing and not necessarily her acting abilities.

I recall an interview with her early in the show when asked if Cersei loved Jamie and she answered essentially that she doesn’t think Cersei loves Jamie but Cersei wants to BE Jamie…. A great insight from the actress, and I believe accurate for the character, especially since (I believe) she said she relied on the script not the books for her performance.

Lena Heady played the part brilliantly. I only wish she'd had decent scripts to work from for the last 4 seasons!

@@thing_under_the_stairs I agree. I wish I would have put that in my comment. She did a great job acting but the writing in later seasons left a lot to be desired, thus leading to lackluster performances.

I was always under the assumption that Tywin knew full well what his kids were up to. They intentionally separated the twins in the past for this behavior. In addition, though it was his cousin, the man was in love/married and slept with a family member himself so it's not like the thought would be improbable for him to ponder. He's highly intelligent, incredibly observant and ultraconcerned with his family's outward appearances, especially in regard to anything he would consider scandalous. His fathers actions, as far as sexual proclivities, were mundane in comparison, and those are the events that shaped him into this person so concerned with his appearance. What his kids are doing makes Tytos look like a gentleman and a scholar. . I think his treatment of Joffrey even shows it, or at least in the TV show, does he send the king to bed in the book too? If he thought that Joffrey was a truly legitmate king of unimpeachable blood, he would not have disrespected him in front of others like he would do to Tyrion. He would not want the Sun King to be insulted in front of anyone else. Knowing that he is the incestuous product that he is, he feels he's expendable, after all there's Tommen anyway.
