    What a wonderful compilation film.
We used to cycle over the Lickeys and sit on the embankment at the top of ''The Bank' all day during the summer holidays. I would guess that this was filmed late 50s to early mid 60s. Wonderful memories.

Fantastic film, many thanks for uploading.
The Lickey has always born a fascination for me, both in it's operation and sights and sounds.
What one would give to spend a day there in the times this film was made.

This reminds me of quite a few full days spent train spotting at Bromsgrove as a young boy in the early 1960s. This film must have been taken 1962-3ish. I moved away in summer 1962 and the diesels had only recently started going up it - it was a real shock that they could pull a train up the incline with no banker. Interestingly there seemed to be a couple of what seemed like ex-GWR engines leading the trains on this film (and one ex-LNER on a special) - I only ever remember seeing GWR locos banking (and never saw Eastern region engines) - the trains were always pulled by ex LMS and standard engines. Bromsgrove had just transferred to the Western Region so perhaps this changed after I had left.

British Railways. BR emblems on the locos and BR MK1 carriages.
Also features BR standard class locos. Some of the emblems seen are of the early "cycling lion" type which was replaced in 1956 so some of the film must predate that. Some later emblems are also seen along with a class 45 "peak" so some date much later into the 60's.

Although there were some GWR engines, this was predominantly an LMS line.
