Lovely video! After 5 years of actively writing with fountain pens and variety of inks, I have learned one thing: I don't need another brand when I have Diamine. This brand is so affordable, the inks are well pigmented, well behaved on every paper, the colors are incredibly beautiful and they have really every color. I thought I had to try other brands and ordered a lot of famous expensive ones, only to find out, that Diamine already had the color (for a third of the price). With Diamine I don't miss anything. The only thing I don't like is that some pens don't fit in the small plastic bottles. You've got great colors!
I love Diamine inks!! They really are the best! One of my most favorite inks of all time is a Diamine ink. Problem is I put it in a glass TWSBI bottle because I could not get my TWSBI pen into the Diamine bottle. Now I cannot remember what the name of the purple is!! I have to hunt it down because I am getting low. Purple inks are my all-time favorite and Diamine is the best!!💜💜💜
Hehe “cooked sienna” it is called burnt sienna and is a bit darker. Burnt sienna is considered a staple in watercolor palettes because it is the exact color wheel opposite of ultramarine, making a perfect neutral gray. Diamine Earl Grey is in my top 5 inks. Great purchases!
@@KarynaLovesToPlan Sienna as a pigment is an ochres - and these can be untreated (raw) or heated to alter the color (burnt). They are among the oldest colors used by humans in art, including cave and rock art paintings.
I love the idea of adhering different papers together so you can see the ink effects next to each other without flipping through multiple books. Thank you as always for sharing your experiences.
Love all of your ink choices! They are really beautiful! It is so interesting to see how the ink performs on different paper too! Thank you for such a great video. It was super fun and informative. I love how you pick all kinds of different colors of inks! ❤❤❤
I'm going to jump right on the Diamine Ink bandwagon along with everyone else here. I also have Earl Grey, Celadon Cat & Ancient Copper, as well as Oxford Blue & Aurora Borealis from this brand. They are all gorgeous colors and behave impeccably. You can't really go wrong with Diamine. Thanks, Karyna, for showcasing these inks!!!
Love the very informative video. Thank you. Those inks are excellent choices. ❤❤👏👏 Whoo hoo. Diamine “Celadon Cat” and “Earl Grey” are both absolutely gorgeous & my faves. Love the swatches on various papers next to each other. After this, I am going to order Diamine’s “Raw Sienna”. I use Raw Sienna as my stables for oil paint and watercolors. It is such an awesome yellow based color. And Happy Mother’s Day to you. 💐
Thanks Lisa! I've learned so much from the comments about Raw Sienna and Burnt Sienna for painting and I'm glad Diamine has these options for fountain pen inks!
I screamed you bought bottles!!! Now that I think of it, I would love to see your fountain pen ink wishlist and disappointments. Like if there was any ink over the years you still like it but not madly in love. I recently bought vintage copper and I cannot wait to get ancient copper. They both are really similar and I didn't know I would like it. Now you gotta mix ancient copper and autumn oat to make ancient oat. Lovely choices, I can see why you went for the bottles.
I know, right?! BOTTLES!! I have to think about the inks I tried over the years. The only ones that were huge disappointments were the light inks from Wearingeul. Is Vintage Copper quite different? I wonder what Ancient Oak will look like. I feel like it should be brown!
Vintage copper is ancient copper with silver shimmer. I think you can recreate it with glittering potion. It's beautiful. And the shimmers are so fine I love it.
I loooove Raw Sienna. I currently have inked in my TWSBI Caffe Bronze fine nib. SO good 😄 This is a wonderful haul!! Diamine Earl grey is an absolute staple in my collection 🩶
I love this swatching format Karyna! Super helpful and informative when considering purchasing inks and paper! Thank you so much! Have a wonderful weekend! Lisa ❤
Good morning Karyna, Nice inks. I like how you added the different strips of paper to the ink journal. That isn’t something I think I would have ever thought of. Noodlers fills their bottles to the top. Right to the edge they are famous or infamous for that depending on who you ask. I always open them over a towel. Diamine does a great job of filling their bottles too. You just need to be careful which you obviously know. Diamine- Ancient Copper is a favorite of mine. Diamine- Autumn Oak I have never used before but it’s on my wish list. Interesting how the Endless paper reacted to it. Diamine- Celadon Cat is really sharp and is up for consideration in a sample. Diamine- Raw Sienna funny joke there. It is a nice brown that I want to consider. Ferris Wheel Press- Writing Desk is an ink I must have. Loved the video. Have a wonderful day and weekend.
Loved the video. I am a brown ink person, so really was drawn to all the browns. Not a green or blue person, but I liked Celadon Cat and may get a sample to try it out. Don’t need just a sample for Aphrodite, must have! Also, the idea of trying inks out on other papers is great. Thanks.
Thank you SOOO MUCH Karyna, for swatching these INKS and SHARING with us!!! It's EXCITING to see different INKS and how they BEHAVE on different papers!!! (Especially, with NO fountain pen shops near me!!! 😭 )
It's so tough not having a brick and mortar store nearby. I have one, but they don't have the comparisons on different papers. I'm glad this was helpful!
Love how you did the 3 different papers. I’ve been debating trying rhodia paper and also clairefontaine papers and this showed me I can take Rhodia off my list. lol. I like shading inks and it seems that rhodia almost distributes the ink more uniformly maybe…idk. Interesting that there wasn’t any sheening showing up. Adding celedon cat and earl gray to my try list! This was a fun exploration!
Can confirm Rhodia isn’t the best for showing ink properties, but I keep a pad for quick writing samples and work notes. I also find that I don’t quite enjoy using my fine and extra fine nibs on Rhodia paper
I absolutely love the colors you chose. I went and hunted down Aphrodite at the Chicago pen show and immediately inked it up and have been loving it. Celadon cat is one of my favorite blues. A reddish brown is an ink I love. If you haven't tried Colorverse a Tau, that is another really nice color like Ancient copper. Raw sienna is a beautiful brown. I really like the way you did the swatches.
Omg I clicked in and saw Aphrodite I screamed lol. ❤ I feel like that ink is really underrated. I love that ink so much!!! One ink I recommend (that I use interchangeably) is Teranishi Chemical Industry’s Opera Rose. That ink looks so gorgeous on Tomoe river #7 😂.
I like to see how the ink looks different on different paper. I've been doing leuchtturm notebooks to the rhodia notebook in cream and the rhodia paper in the reverse notebook which is white. It;s a fun exercise. I've never heard of the endless regalia paper so I'll have to get that some time to try that out too. I really want to try the celadon cat too.
I also really like this way of swatching inks. I have a notepad from the California Pen Show from Endless and have enjoyed the writing experience using that paper. I haven't experienced any of the issues you had while swatching, but I have only written on the paper with my pens, not done any swatching. Ancient Copper is probably my favorite ink. It is a constant in my Esterbrook Estie (Petrified Forest) with a BB nib made for the CPS by Kirk Speer. I may have to try the FWP Writing Desk. Nice video.
what a cool swatch set up! I really like the regalia paper, but I've noticed it picks up finger oils really, really easily. I wonder if the weirdness you noticed was maybe just a fingerprint? Either way, may have to try this multi paper set up myself!
Another great video by you Karyna. I love the testing on different paper, it really shows how important paper is in this hubby of ours. I bought the same Diamine inks as you did during this sale (I bought a few bottles more). If you are at your brown phase, try Diamine Golden Brown, it is a lovely brown color.
Karyna I don’t know if you are aware but you don’t have to buy all your inks from the same brand with that ‘5 for 4’ sale, you can mix and match. I agree the Diamine are such a good price from a UK company, have to admit I bought a few inks in the sale too but this time myself to more expensive ones - I always find juggling the order around to make the best of the deal the trickiest part 😂. Enjoy your lovely new inks and that testing out with 3 different papers is a great idea.
That was great. The comparison was so helpful to see side by side. I try to compare when you swatch in your book and on Rhida „cards“, but this was easier to see! ☺️ Endless is not my paper… do you use it? Oh and I love autumn oak, it’s now on my sample ink list.
Raw Sienna and Burnt Sienna are paints that are Pigment number PBr7 and that is likely why it is called raw sienna. Paints and inks use pigment numbers to identify the colors. PBr7 is Pigment Brown red #7 and is common in most browns.
I think every one of those inks looks most beautiful on the Rhodia strip! What diaries use Rhodia or do they just do notebooks? Not to overcomplicate things but maybe the Tomoe River should also have a pasted in strip, like, the glue barrier on the back affects two sets of swatches but not the third? Those tall skinny plastic bottles make me nervous too! My friend told me to set them in a heavy tumbler which works great but maybe not for filming.❤🖋
Rhodia have their own set of grid notebooks but I don't think they do planners. I think the glue could have affected the Endless Regalia but not so much the Rhodia. I know of a couple of makers who have a holder for these Diamine ink bottles - may need to research those!
I’ve been eyeing Aphrodite for awhile now and once I can, I’m going in on a full bottle (in case my username didn’t give me away, pink is my favorite) so this Aphrodite ink is a must for me
I like this format with different papers. 👍 I've seen that some FP-tubers doesn't like Rhodia paper but your swatches looked fine to me. Myself I prefer Burnt Sepia, Sienna and Umber compared to Raw versions in watercolour and acrylic paints but that's just a matter of personal taste. 😇🩷🙏🙌
I don’t use Rhodia for journaling or swatching normally. I do use it for testing occasion and I know some people prefer it for their notebooks or notepads. Thanks for watching!

😂 why is it raw or burnt? No in between? Thanks for watching!
@@KarynaLovesToPlan there should be a well sautéed version, I agree 🤣🤣

Love all of your ink choices! They are really beautiful! It is so interesting to see how the ink performs on different paper too! Thank you for such a great video. It was super fun and informative. I love how you pick all kinds of different colors of inks! ❤❤❤

this was so fun, and I love seeing how the ink behaves differently on different paper. Off to watch Helen's swatching video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love swatching on the different papers the way you did! All in one place is awesome I’m going to give this a try. Lovely ink choices!
Thanks so much 😊

Yes I have Raw Sienna currently in that same pen! Video about that Eco coming out in a few weeks!
I like seeing the different paper. It really makes a difference.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
I love the way you are doing the swatches. I am going to pick up the raw sienna. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! And yes to the Raw Sienna!
I love this swatching format Karyna! Super helpful and informative when considering purchasing inks and paper!

this is such a beautiful collection of inks! thank you for sharing! 🩷

The 30ml Diamine bottles are so well-priced that sometimes i just end up grabbing a bottle too. You've got some great options here!
They are so well priced. Amazon has great ones, too, but Cult Pens had a 5 for 4 sale and I couldn't resist!

I bought the same Diamine inks as you did during this sale (I bought a few bottles more). If you are at your brown phase, try Diamine Golden Brown, it is a lovely brown color.

Thank you! Yes I was aware but for cost, Diamine seemed the best deal. I was looking to get these five anyway and it worked out well!
That was great. The comparison was so helpful to see side by side. I try to compare when you swatch in your book and on Rhida „cards“, but this was easier to see! ☺️
Endless is not my paper… do you use it?
Oh and I love autumn oak, it’s now on my sample ink list.

Raw Sienna and Burnt Sienna are paints that are Pigment number PBr7 and that is likely why it is called raw sienna. Paints and inks use pigment numbers to identify the colors. PBr7 is Pigment Brown red #7 and is common in most browns.

It's such a good dusty pink ink!
Will you be able to do a comparison of the laban aphrodite ink vs teranishi opera rose?!!🤩
Yes!! I should have an updated version soon.
@KarynaLovesToPlan yay!! Looking forward to it;)
Respect, but I chuckled at "Earl Grey Tuna" I think they need to make that ink. :)
😂 I was making up my own ink there!
You said you typically purchase samples, how do you store your samples?
I bought a sample vial holder from PenChalet which holds 50 samples. I keep them in a drawer in my KALLAX shelf
I’ve been eyeing Aphrodite for awhile now and once I can, I’m going in on a full bottle (in case my username didn’t give me away, pink is my favorite) so this Aphrodite ink is a must for me
Highly recommend Aphrodite for sure!!
The Endless Regalia and Rhodia papers have been affected by the fact that you used glue on the backside of the papers.
It’s the monoline glue tape so it has not soaked through the paper. But with Endless Regalia, most inks bleed through regardless of glue or not.
@@KarynaLovesToPlan Good to know. I will avoid Endless Regalia,
