The new dynamic transient feature is a killer one. With that one can achieve much more realistic sounds. Cheers Ralph!
“Air from Asia” is the most realistic drum sound Roland has ever put out
😀
Its definitely got some Danny Carey vibes to its sound
By far the best sounds Roland has ever produced! Phenomenal playing as always!!
Thank you Scott! :)
Nice drumming. Those toms sound so compressed and fake.... I really don't know how roland is still so behind in sound compared to other manufacturers
That's just a matter of sample selection. Spend some time tweaking your sounds and it sounds way better than that, problem being that no e-drummer really cares about, say, adjusting velocity curves to get natural dynamic range.
Which makes sense once you think about how annoying too much dynamic range is in a band or drum-along setting, "compression" really makes everything so much easier. Not really an issue with the sounds themselves, it's just silly to expect perfect kits at factory settings when e-drums require as much tuning and setting up as analog instruments - if not much more.
Besides... who cares when the state of the art is a good vst like Superior Drummer 3 anyway? It's not like that is going to blow your wallet after the fact. Sample selection is always kind of secondary to the v-drum experience if you can be bothered to set it up for a bit. And even then I still can dial in my really old TD-4 to sound better than what was demo'd here, truly not a shortcoming of the stock kits.
@@minhuang8848 Really interesting response.
Can you tweak the stock sounds so that they could compare with SSD3 or GGD VSTs? - I know that’s subjective, but I’d like to know.
I love Roland and I’m an avid e drum player but I really hate the stock kits. They are soo overly processed, dated and sound very unrealistic.
Amazing if the capability is there to improve the sounds
But most drummers haven’t got the time or skill to do that level of tweaking to achieve that sound.
I’ve been playing e drums for years and I’ve never been able to get my stock sounds to get anywhere near VSTs so I gave up and just use those instead.
Any information you can share is appreciated.
It just sounds dead. I gigged with Roland for a year but it was like coming home when I got my new acoustics. Organic beats digital every time.
simple, use with with a vst like EZDRUMMER and u're good to go
@@youssefloukili7711 exactly what i did. Problem solved
FINALLY Roland is starting to catch up! Seriously, I don't know what it took them so long. I'm sure they are starting to get aware of the competition, and don't want to meet Nokia's fate...
It was about time.
😅😅😅
At least you can expect their kits to last more than 2 years.
(cough) Alesis.
Roland snare sound :(.. efNote Snare Sound :) .. Why????.. Roland plis make better realistic sounds
I bought a TD-07 VAD kit module with the Series 2 sounds and it is the best that Roland has offered. Granted, not as many sounds but amazing realistic also with Overhead Mic and Transient menus. Good call Roland and allowed me to sell my Gewa G5 module. Saving for a TD-50x…
Amazing sounds and excellent drumming as always, Ralph! Happy New Year.
Thanks, same to you! :)
So in the last 6mths I’ve bought a Roland Td 50x , Drumtec Td 50x kit pack, Vex Expressions and just now Superior Drummer 3. Why can’t a manufacturer just release a module that covers the real samples of SD3 ( which are superb) and the percussion sounds and electronic sounds that Roland are good at. The Drumtec & Vex packages are great too but only cause I’m too lazy to tweak the internal settings and they’ll never be real samples. The Roland Digital Hats , snare & ride really are amazing. 3 zone HiHat with SD3 but not Roland? Will be interesting to see what happens with DWe this year.
Did you try Pearl Mimic pro? It has SD3 sounds ;-)
Warm Pop, Fat Brass, Orchestra are really great sounds, as always great performance thanks Ralph :)
Thank you Vasil! :)
That's an awesome fill in when performing the Production 27 sound kit.
As always great perform mate, well stay healthy for all of us & Safety First! 😉🤙
Thannk you so much & same to you! :)
The Fat Brass, Fat Pop, & Jazz Session sound phenomenal! Thanks for the Video. 😎
I really wanna see yall demo the new zetgeist(lemon) shells. I have an atv module to build a kit around and the price looks appealing
Hey Jeff, that's to come soon for sure! Kind regards
"Well. . If I had a million dollars.. if I had a million dollars!" -BNL
;-D
increible las posibilidades que te puede ofrecer ,la gama de sonidos que tiene es impresionante!!
I feel like I’m seeing a lot more ghost notes on the snare than I’m hearing.
Hi Dave, you should listen with a pair of headphones or studio monitors really. There's absolutely no problems with trigger accuracy on any Roland module honestly. Kind regards!
is this kit with the V.2 version kits?
It is impressive what Roland has achieved in the V-DRUMS industry, an impeccable sound and each time more unbeatable from its td17-27-50x modules. This has prompted other brands to compete very well where we have increasingly better options as well.
The VAD 504 & 507 kits come with the new firmware pre-installed, it is also available for download from the Roland website by now.
Kind regards!
The Comp Drive set is so good. Sounds exactly how I over-compress my drums :P
😄 yeah can't have enough compression on the kit can you? Kind regards!
I have to add yet another comment on Ralf's playing. Man there is so much control and finesse in your drumming. Thanks for spoiling us with your demos.
Thank you so much! 😀 You can find more drumming / music & sound demo videos on my channel digitaldrumming too if you like:
www.youtube.com/@digitaldrumming
Kind regards!
lovely! 2 questions: if you buy via drum-tec you get extra sounds on it that you don't get at thomann? and second question: whats that tabletop stand the laptop is on? love it!
magnifique...!❤
How do the cymbal swells/rolls (not sure what they're called) sound on the new cymbals? Have they gotten closer or does it still sound like a bunch of individual building crashes?
I prefer ĝ9 gewa sounds
Are the new sounds already installed when purchasing a VAD Kit (in DE)?
Sir plz give me a youar old drum set 😢 hihat and bass drum only
Amazing drumming. I’m really impressed with the hi hats and cymbals!
$4k.. just buy a real kit and learn to mic it right bro lol
The "real" kit would still be a lot louder than an edrum kit, though. Especially when it comes to volume, whether it's at home or because you simply want to rehearse more quietly in the rehearsal room, but don't want to do without an acoustic look, the VAD sets from Roland are certainly a good option.
Can you upload a video of fast rolls and rudiments on the hi-hat?
Hi, possibly I'll do some technique / slow down videos some time in the future over on my private channel digitaldrumming:
www.youtube.com/@digitaldrumming
Kind regards!
Keep drumming on Ralf!
❤
Well, I'll do my very best... ;-D
I like these new sounds, I think some of them sounds more real than previous kits
Yes absolutely :) kind regards!
Naïve question, is the TD-50/TD-50X going to get a similar "V2" upgrade? So far we've seen them for TD-17 and 27.
It's hard to tell what Roland comes up with next :) yet, I guess there probably won't be aTD-50X upgrade shortly, as the X upgrade itself was released not too long ago. But you never know!
In the meantime, have you already checked out the available drum-tec sound editions for the TD-50X module yet?

Like a boss!
How do you get the v2 kits? Is it a free download from Roland? I have the td27... But not these kits.
Hey Charlie, yes you'll find a link on the Roland website, but you'll have to use the Roland Cloud app. Kind regards!
nice. 🥁
I have a td 27 kit how do I download these updates ….just plug my module into the compute?.
Hi, you'll find the firmware update over here:
www.roland.com/uk/support/by_product/td-27/updates_drivers/
There's an explanation how to install it too, generally speaking you download the file(s) and copy it to your sd card, from where you execute the update on your module. Kind regards!
Sounds like a badger’s arsehole. Great playing as always though.
😀 thank you Sam, I really was laughing loudly the moment I read your comment!
@@drumtecTV You know what I take it back. 'Deep Studio', 'Solid & Low', 'Standard' 'Jazz Session' 'Warm Pop' are actually quite good. Still more processed sounding than the Efnote 7 sounds which seem more like the sound of the drums in the room, which I prefer. BUT Roland is an established company. What if Efnote go out of business? Who will repair your kit then? Which do you prefer Roland VAD504 or Efnote 7?
@@sampilsbury9415 You see that Pearl and Efnote pushing a good competition on Roland to fix their problems. Roland is still superior und latency and triggering. Thats why the sound "issue" is fixable with SD3 and so on. But there are people like me who want a good sound out of the box without spnding days and weeks of time in a 3rd party software. I think "Deep Studio" already sounded good for me in this video. I hope Roland ctaches up
@@GroschiLP honestly when you’re playing it, you notice less. There are at least 6 good sounding kits on the TD27 module since the update.
HIHATS sound terrible !!
No matter what, the Roland kits sound pants. Nothing beats Superior Drummer with e-drums.
Efnote kits are pretty good
There are plenty of better drum programs than just Superior Drummer! 🥴
@@RedbackRecordz if you can mix SD3 is the best. Tried BFD and it’s a pain. Kontakt has variable audio quality (depends on libraries) and not the control I need.
@@sampilsbury9415 you know I was actually interested in their cymbals vs Roland’s but can’t find much online in terms of reviews
@@andy80sdrums the hi hats are meant to be great but can only be used with their modules
@DrumtecTV would you buy this or an Efnote 7?

I have the Roland TD-27, how do I go about installing the new V2 firmware upgrade?
Hey Barney, you can find the download & instructions on the Roland website:

There's also an instructional video by Roland:

@@drumtecTV Thank you very much! That's extremely helpful :)
The man, the legend.
great demo as always Ralf.
Thank you Bruce, nice to see you over here too! :)
Pena que no Brasil essa bateria é um rim
:-O
How did you recorded sounds?
Hey Alex, I feed the stereo output from the TD-27 into an RME UCX audio interface, which is hooked up to a Macbook Pro running Logic Pro Audio as DAW. Kind regards!
