I would like to see the, draft jj because I have a gut feeling he’s gonna be good and maye will be a bust. They need to draft daniels or jj for qb if not they need to draft mhj.
The only scenario I could see the Pats trading down is if they really like JJ and trade down to a spot they know for sure they can get him, which probably wouldn’t be very far. They can’t just hope he’ll still be there by 10 or 11. They probably couldn’t go any further than 6, and even 6 would be risky. There’s a lot of teams that need a new QB and might trade up and snag him
As a fan, a QB at 3 is the exciting pick. Being logical, I would prefer they actually scout the QBs and if they don’t like whoever is at 3 trade the pick or take best available. Look how Trey lance ended up (Big name now bust) glad I’m not GM.
Let's all agree that we are not in the position talent wise to trade down and try to outsmart the league yet again. Whoever they take needs to be @ 3. 34 is practically a first round pick as well. Make the cute moves when we have a solid foundation
Jesus Christ man so many people are overthinking this. This is a great QB class, we desperately need a QB, we are lucky to be in the position to take a premium one. The Raiders, Broncos and Vikings wish they had the opportunity that we have. The top 2 teams on the board aren't even taking calls, there is no guarantee we will be in a position to take a QB like this again in the near future. You can't just say "tRaDe Up NeXt YeAr!"... you would give up everything you obtained in this years trade down to do that. Don't screw this up, don't overthink it, the team should pick their favorite QB left on the board at 3 whether it's Daniels McCarthy or Maye & support him for the next 3+ years minimum. Yes, it's scary and you can get fired for drafting a bust. You can also get fired for passing on someone like Stroud.
Next years draft class for QBs is weak. If we don't take a QB its gonna be at minimum two years before we could potentially find out guy. We would be in limbo.
I think it depends on the level of compensation. If we’re able to get 2 first round picks and a 2nd/3rd that we could wheel and deal into another first, I think you take that. This is a bad team, if you have 3 first round picks you’re in a position to really make positive change. In this league, you either need an elite QB or elite pieces, we have neither. I don’t think Jayden Daniels has shown himself to be far above either JJ or Penix. To me, there is a gap, but not by much. I think Penix on a team with weapons, does better than Daniels without them. So if you had 3 first rounders, depending where they land, could you grab a top receiver, dare I say brock bowers even though we’ve acquired hooper, he’s simply too good to ignore. Is Joe Alt still on the board? If the compensation isn’t great, then no I’m not taking offers, if I can get Penix, a first round tackle and wide out, I’m taking that over Daniels. I’m pretty sure drake is gone at 2.
As a Giants fan i would like to get the opinion of pats fans on this deal. What if the Giants offered the pats dexter Lawrence and pick 6 to get to 3? I get you guys are looking for picks to build the team but could a guy like dexter influence a first year HC/former lb who will stress defense to pull the trigger?
The Boston media are almost threatening the Patriots to pick a QB. I really hope they trade that pick and fill some holes with some quality players. I also want to see the medias heads pop off when they don’t get their way.
I cant wait until they draft Drake or Jaden at #3. I’m going to be so pumped because I know for the next 10 years we are going to have a great quarterback. If they trade down for the next 10 years, we will see them being great quarterbacks, while we still stink, and are looking for a quarterback.
They have to get a qb. Not even really about whether they hit or not. But it’s about bringing some excitement back to New England. It’s more forgiving to pick the best qb at 3 and it doesn’t work out. Than trading down to grab a ok qb and he doesn’t work out.
This is stupid. I would be excited with MHJ as well. I would rather them build a good team over trying to be exciting like some bad franchises like the Browns taking Mayfield and that other short guy.
@brendanpal4143 Low probability or not this team has to knock this first pick out of the yard. This is true if they trade the pick or take a QB. If they think the QB at three is the guy, take him. If not, trade the pick for as many picks they can receive back. The closer we get to draft day, the more the team can get for that pick if a couple of teams get in a bidding war.
Take the QB. This is a stacked QB class this draft. It's easy for people to say trade the pick get a bag and get a QB next draft. Well 2025 QB class seems weak...and personally....I want no part in Deon Sanders son. Not every draft class is the same....look at the 2022 QB class for example.....GOD AWFUL !!!! It just so happens that the year we are picking #3 overall is the same year the QB class is stacked!! No brainer. QB at 3
'Patriots MUST HIT if they draft a QB at #3 Overall' Actually they don't. It would be great if they do but not fault if they whiff. Look no further than the 49ers, swap their #1 pick PLUS 2 additional first round picks to select Trey Lance at #3 They also got Mr.Irrelevant Brock Purdy.
I'm ok trading down, but only if we go WR, Tackle or a high risk high ceiling QB. We all just saw what happens playing it safe with high floor low ceiling role players that got an easy life in college thanks to the surrounding talent.
4 and 13 again cause the Patriots signed a 3rd string WR from Minnesota and Bourne may not be 100% in week one. Mayo is lying about spending money in free agency.
If both maye and Daniels are there at 3 I’m seeing if the chargers want to trade up to 3 for MHJ and I’m still able to insure I get a QB and something extra.
Just went thru a qb search, it sucked. Been there, done that. Cam Era. No, we have not learn anything. Watch Maye tape, bad footwork Ala Jones. Daniels, Mike Vick light. Walk away and get the franchise WR1 and get tackle. Guaranteed Guaranteed Guaranteed starter!
In the last 20 years there have been 36 quarterbacks taken in the top 9 picks 7 of them have been resigned with their team after the end of their rooky contracts and none have won a supper bowl with the team that drafted them. Only 2 have any chance of going to the hall of fame. At the same time 16 quarterbacks have been taken between picks 10-32 in the first round of the draft. 6 were signed to long term extensions and at least 5 will end up in the hall of fame. These QBs have won basically every Super bowl that Brady didn't win over the last 20 years. If you want Jamarcus Russel or if you are really lucky Joe Burrow waste an early pick on a QB. If you want Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, or Aaron Rogers, develop good scouting and then move up aggressively to get your QB sometime in the back 2/3 of the first round. Based on history, this idea that we must draft a QB because who knows when we will be picking this high again, is foolish.
You bring up Jamarcus Russell but the 12 guys drafted after him sucked to that was just a bad QB draft. This draft could easily be like 2020 where the 1st 5 guys all hit
Drake maye is literally just a more athletic Mac Jones it’s big mistake if they draft him where Jj McCarthy remains of more of joe burrow if they develop him the right way and he’s younger.
Lol just imagine Joe burrow being on Michigan and them telling him not to throw because of the “scheme” JJ mcarthy is a backup at best Drake maye is legit
I agree..trade down get at minimum 3 1st rounders..2 later this year..1 next year...more likely if they pick a QB at 3...its the wrong guy...at least with 3 they get 1 right...little faith with this organization drafting upper tier talent.

The idea that the best way to get an elite QB is to draft one at the top of the draft. History says that is fiction.
@@CarlHodsdon-u1z Although, RECENT history suggests otherwise.
What this is the last year there will be QBs in the draft in this decade???
@@CarlHodsdon-u1z 14 teams in this years NFL playoffs. Out of the 14 teams 11 had first round QB's. That's one hell of a percentage.
