    I have always been amazed at how talented Jerry was at such an early age. I also feel the writing on this show was the best of the era. I still watch the show almost every morning at 7 on MeTV. Been watching since just about when the show started.

    I think the fact that it was in black and white and a time of innocence! That is is loved so much! Good interview! Jerry seems like a nice guy!

    Jerry seems very humble. He was the cutest kid back in the 1950s.

    I give Jerry credit, he is very level headed. Like many kids of sitcoms, he and Tony were type casted , but endured.

    Ward Cleaver, (Hugh Beaumont) was my favorite t.v. dad. Ken Osmond was absolutely fantastic as Eddie Haskell. They'll never be another t.v. character like him.

    Leave it to Beaver was a very thoughtful show that had a lot of heart. Ward and June are the parents we should all strive to be. It's of a different era but it no doubt holds up well today.

    I just kind of tripped over this interview, Never heard of Ken Boxer? This was fantastic, I never knew this about Hollywood and how these shows were produced. Jerry has had his head straight from a young age!!!

    The host of the show doesn’t know that upper middle class and wealthy families dressed up for dinner just like they did back in the 20s in the 60s they were still doing that. Well I have to say late 60s everything basically changed man stopped wearing hats they stopped wearing overcoats no more double breasted suits that was pretty much most of the 60s actually.

    Leave it to Beaver got a lot of credit for being wholesome, but what was truely special about it was just how funny it was. And it holds up today.

    Love Jerry Mathers. But it's painful when he reminds me Beaver wasn't real, only a character. No, no, no ! Beaver and Mayfield will always be REAL !!

    • @davidbrown5357
      @davidbrown5357 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robin Smith I hear you I have had more than one not just the beaver say it was not real. Some how they think their not as good a actor if they are only known for that one roll. But most are wrong because if they bring it onto you're home and childhood and make seem real it makes them a good actor. My mother and father are dead and it makes shows like these more important to the memories of my parent's and childhood. You take away leave it to beaver as not real then you have nothing . Then all Jerry Mathers would be is a fat boring old man because I find wally and the beaver more interesting.

      Vebinz I was apprehensive to watch this interview after reading your comment. You're right, he usually is a happy and jovial fella when being interviewed. Most interviews I've seen are from five to ten years ago and I think he smiles enough in this interview and what we see here is just the natural aging process. He's simply getting older. I think he's 65 in this interview. I watched it and loved every moment. I evcen leared a couple new things and got another great quote from my upcoming Leave it to Beaver book I'm currently working on. I love Jerry's attitude. It's always positive.

    • @marjoriemargel1567

      Brian Humek If you listen carefully, this interviewers questions are negative. “Why weren’t you bullied in school? “Did you lose your money?” “ Did you resent being on Leave it to Beaver!” A lot of negative images coming from this interviewer. I think at the end Jerry Mathers had been able to change his views.

    These interviewer types are always trying to stir up some controversy. Love how balanced Jerry was and still is. Those 50's shows weren't supposed to be real life depictions but rather showed a life that families could appreciate and perhaps even strive to be like. They also depicted the wonder of child hood and how idyllic we often can think of the past.
