Simply Beautiful.... I live in Niagara and I am moving to Lion's Head soon ... I am 56 and still working the dreaded job in Toronto but I decided to start my path to freedom by selling my house in Grimsby and moving up North.... I will continue to WFH for a while but I can't wait to hike the trail End to End.... I LOVED your video and I too feel that we underestimate the beauty of the trail, it is where I feel myself, where I am home. THANK YOU
Awesome video Kendra! This stuff is golden. Congrats on finishing the mighty Bruce with your Dad. We have a feeling that sitting across the room from you at 80 will be an interesting experience...
Priceless father and daughter trip. It absolutely incredible to have a memory like this for the rest of your lives. Great video and thank you for sharing it with us. God bless
Kendra: This is a wonderful story about you and your Dad hiking the Bruce Trail. You are already preparing yourself for the stories you will have to remember when you are 80. That is good. I’m a hiker, among other things, in my 70’s. At my age, we talk about good things that will be in our obituary. I’ve taken family and friends on the Bruce Trail and other trails. These are times we all remember. Thanks for the wonderful video. Hope to see you on the trail one day. Please read the story about Grandma Gatewood. Watch Robert Redford on the AT. Thanks again.
Thank you My Parents John and Ruth Roe were early pioneers of the Bruce Trails - our Dad took us hiking the Bruce trail all the time growing up - he loved taking us out on a icy blizzard to hike on the trail as a family later on as i left home we would always go on the New Years hike so many beautiful memories made my cry with joy like you we have special fathers -he passed away 1n 1999 before he died i came home to take him on the last hike on the trail in Hamilton thank you
Kendra: This is a wonderful story of you and most important “Your Dad”. I have hiked some parts of the Bruce Trail. I have taken my grand children and my children, family and friends on the Bruce Trail. I am 9 years away from being 80 and I have many memories about being on the trail. Your video showed many areas that I have hiked. I enjoyed your story about your dad. Gramma Gatewood also had some good stories. Thanks to you and your Dad for a wonderful story.
love this. Beautiful video...beautiful story. I fully understand your desire to not have regrets at 80. I am a geriatric nurse and 2 years ago I did a solo of the ganaraska trail..I am almost 50 and did not want to look back and have regrets. So many of my clients died without ever reaching out for those dreams they wished they had pursued. Keep being curious, keep loving our world, and keep sharing your story. lots of love
What a beautiful, heartfelt and real synopsis you've given the world in this truly amazing video. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure. We missed you on the trail but my honest hope is that my son Henry The Hiker (who is currently 8 and working on his own End-To-End of the Bruce) will one day rediscover his connection to the Bruce the way you did. We often push aside the adventures of our youth as irrelevant, but they do so very much to shape who we are and our very foundations. And what a magical feeling it is to find that again when you're an adult. I hope Henry finds the joy with me that you found on this adventure with your dad. The Bruce has a magic all its own and we are so very lucky to be interwoven in its unique splendor. Happy hiking to you both!
In the mid-80s, I backpacked the trail, solo. Took me a total of 31 days. My second End-to-End was with groups, over several years. WAY TO GO Kendra! Such a great sport!
Kendra, so beautiful filmed and narrated. I was born in Owen Sound and have lived in BC most of my life. Yet, I can never leave the Bruce Peninsula as it continues to draw me back. Thank you and your dad for such an amazing video. One of my favourites of all time!
Thank you so much, Peter! This means a lot to me. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. And how amazing that you've grown to love the Bruce Peninsula - such a beautiful section!
I also “grew up” on the Bruce with my stepdad teaching me all about nature. I also relate to kind of overlooking it as I’ve aged - started romanticizing other trails in other countries. I’m now 30 and my stepdad much older, but this makes me want to do this with him! Maybe I’ll bring it up to him :)
I cried I loved this video so much! Thank you for sharing. I've done portions of this trail but you are amazing for doing it in one go! The longest I have done was 22 kms the sleeping giant. That nearly killed me and my two kids were mad at me after lol. I think one day I will build up to this. You are an inspiration and I love so much that you did this with your dad. Wonderful video. Bravo!!!
I loved your story and video! I actually cried all the way through because you captured the essence of long distance hiking with its highs and lows so well. And because I see myself in your dad and can’t wait to do this with my kids. Onward! ❤
Was thinking about the Bruce Trail today and remembered this video. One day I might edit all my Bruce trail videos together but this is so much better than I could ever do! You did a a great job with this!
Absolutely awesome and inspiring. I am starting to plan my journey at the Bruce Trail, and your video just added more encouragement. Thank you very much Kendra, keep trekking!!!
This gives me so much hope/excitement as a mom. I’ve been taking my LO hiking since she was a few months old and now at 3, she asks for adventure and walks daily. She did 8km!!! 8!!! All on her own legs this fall just before she turned 3 🤯 I’ve carried her across Southern Ontario and into the mountains of Yosemite with the hope that it will instil a love for nature like you (& I) have. Thank you for sharing this beautiful journey.
Amazing video. I hope to have an experience like this with my daughter when she gets older. I bet your Dad is so Greatful to have had this adventure with you. So happy for you.
Amazing! You've captured the essence of the Bruce Trail so beautifully with the images and the storytelling in this video. So much of your reflections resonate with my own experience of the Bruce. My husband and I are hiking it together, slowly, and have 456km hiked so far. Feeling really inspired to keep going...
What a fabulous vlog Kendra! You and your Dad are amazing and we are SO glad to have had the opportunity to host you for a couple of nights to help you on your way. You're both an inspiration and great storytellers. I'm sure your Grandkids will be in awe of you while you teach them how to love hiking and being in nature. I bet you'll still be out their in your 80's with many more tales to tell!!
Amazing videos and storytelling. I am so glad my daughter joined me for a few day-hikes on BT. Hopefully one day, she would like to complete the end to end with me;)
Thanks so much for the video! I already have lived and so many stories to tell, but next journey is the AT here in USA. I also feel so free and normal in the woods. Great stuff!
Epic. I have a million memories on this trail. I felt I lost touch with it too because I was experiencing what I thought were “greater” trails. When in reality each trail contains their own uniqueness. 10/10 video.
What a great video. Thank you for sharing. I am going to hike a small piece of it up near tobermory this July. But thru hiking is something I hope to do more of.
Thank you! For sharing your love of the Bruce with the rest of the world! It is a magical journey.... something I think that’s keeping many trail lovers alive & thriving especially during these weird times.... awesome awesome job!!!
that was so lovely. you should be so proud of your accomplishment and the wonderful way you told the story. I am a lover of Bruce too and feel so blessed to live close enough to visit "him" on weekends. you are right, it's a beast of a trail. oh and your zoom transitions elevated the quality of the video...from an editing standpoint. your narration was spectacular. Job well done.
Wow amazing footage :) would you mind answering a few questions ? Did you do food drops ..? Was there allot of sections that you were walking on roads and through towns ? How often did you have to resupply ? Is it like the AT where you go through a town every 4-6 days ? I am going to try to do this entire trail this year as COVID ruined my AT thru hike ... just starting my research on this and loved your video 😎
your story is beautiful and all but im 34 and im crying because this is so beautiful so stop making such wonderful content because i cant be seen like this
I started hiking after the pandemic. I enjoy a day hike on the weekends. I have hiked some parts of Bruce Trails so far. Watching your video inspires me to challenge hiking the entire Bruce Trail. If I ever try it, I will make videos, too.🌺🌺🌺
What an incredible story! Congratulations on your Bruce end to end! Loved following your adventure on Facebook. What an amazing memory you’ll have with your dad! We’re currently 7 sections down... (working on it at a much slower pace. Haha). You’ll have to tackle to side trails now! Still lots of Bruce for you both to discover!
I came for Bruce Trail research, and im staying for Kendra's amazing editing and storytelling skills. You need to find ways to make more of these because they're pretty awesome 🤘👍
I'm trying to remember the spot on the Bruce Trail in the Blue Mountains with a 3 sided wood structure on the path... Fun times , Unfortunately bad memory...😥
Very inspiring, I'm amazed how you did the whole thing as a voice over. My end to end was five years ago and I've been trying to motivate myself into making a highlight video. You've provided the kick in the pants I needed.
I love this video so much, I was so jealous of all the trails in the US and just learned about this trail the other day! Never backpacked a day in my life but I want to thru hike the bruce trail so bad!
Congrats! I was supposed to thru hike the BT this year, but COVID-19 kept me here with family. Will try in 2021. Your story is so correct, and will help explain to my family why I want and need to do this for myself.
Hey! Loved your video. I had a few questions. Did you stealth camp the who way? And if so what was your experience like? Also what was your food resupply options like. In planning my thru hike beginning of July and was curious what these aspects were like for you.
Love this! I’m planning to hike a section of this coming up. Does the trail have walk up campsites? Or do you have to make a reservation at every site? Happy hiking!

Kendra. Amazing video. thanks for sharing. I am considering doing the end-to-end hike. Please let me know if you are willing to have a brief conversation so i can learn from your experience. THanks

Congrats on making the most of this special time this year!
What an inspiring journey you had with your dad! Also, if I can be shallow for a second, WHAT ARE THOSE PANTS you're wearing, the black ones with the pockets? I'm always looking for hiking pants that aren't too loose and catch in branches *and* have pockets.
Tell me about it!!! It's always so hard finding a good pair of hiking pants that are high waisted, a bit tighter, and actually look nice. They're MEC brand pants: MEC Terrena High Rise Cargo Pants. They are hands down the BEST hiking pants I've ever had.
Please keep making amazing content like this! We need more Canadians in the outdoor TH-cam space making videos about Canadian trails.
Yes
the canadian government also agrees along it's censorship, lol
Great film. Spending time with your Dad like that is priceless.
Couldn't agree more! ☺
This is one of the most beautiful adventures I've ever witnessed. You and your Dad inspire me to no end, Kendra.
