    I'm working on completion of this trail. I love watching this video in the winter since I can't/won't hike it through those conditions. Makes me smile and excited to do some more.

    Hiked a lot of the Bruce Trail in the 60's and 70's as a kid and teenager. We didn't have a lot of money growing up, so it was an inexpensive outing on the trail with a picnic packed to enjoy sitting on a rock or a log. Great memories. Thanks for doing this. Very nostalgic for me.

    This movie made me cry. Reminded me of my childhood. I lived in Owen Sound in the late 70's to early 90's and my backyard was at the bottom of the escarpment. We would climb the hill to the trail and it took us to high school and Woolco then to Jones Falls. My husband's family was across from Jones' Falls in Springmount. Thank you.

    I did a Northbound trek up the trail in 2009. Was a life changing experience. Some call it a "Vision Quest"

      I was such a naive young man before I hiked the Bruce Trail - and that was only 2 years ago! and I was 50. It really does change your life - in a good way. I wish I had done it sooner but I guess it happened when the time was right. Thanks for the comment.

    I am thrilled to see this come up in my feed. I have walked most of the trail in the Tobermory area and often wonder what it would like to do the whole trail. What references did you use. Planning to do the Camino next fall so this is whetting my appetite. Thank you for sharing your experience.

      Hi - thanks for watching and for the great comment. I used the pdf Bruce trail guide maps to plan everything out which you can get at the Bruce Trail Association website. The Tobermory sections are pretty incredible. Happy hiking !

      Yes! Tobermory and the whole Bruce Peninsula is I think some of the best hiking in Canada - not easy hiking - but great views out into the bay. 👍 Thanks for checking out the movie - you will probably see spots you recognize. ✌

    Hi Steve
    Just an update on the 1/2 way sign. Yup, it's still there. Seen it in the TH-cam video of "Trail Name Jasper" Beaver Valley 2 day hike part # 1 ( 9:56) 9 days ago.
    You put this long video nicely together, love it. Well done!
    Cheers

    How long did it take you to do the full Bruce Trail? Looks like (from scenery) over 2 years? Did you hike from south to north or do sections randonmly?

    • @stevewelchontario
      @stevewelchontario  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi - it took 1 year and 8 months - I basically hiked the sections in order but jumped around a little bit trying to line up our camping weekends with where the sites are. (We did a few two day weekend hikes) One section Eugenia Falls is closed in Winter so we had to go back and do it when it opened in May. The movie is in sequential order though. We tried to hike 25 km or so per hike which was brutal at times but we got it done! 😊 thanks for the questions! ✌️

    wow did you do this all at once

    • @stevewelchontario
      @stevewelchontario  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hiked the trail in sections - usually 25 km at a time, with a few overnight camps and multi day hikes - it took just over a year and a half to complete. Thanks for checking it out! It was quite an adventure. ✌

    This seems very heavy on the ads - every three minutes?

    • @stevewelchontario
      @stevewelchontario  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's too bad - unfortunately I have no control over that - if a TH-cam video starts to become popular, TH-cam starts cranking out the ads. At this point in the growth of my channel they don't pay me anything for the ads but still run them on all of my videos. I wish it weren't that way! It would be a much better viewing experience ad free. Thanks for the comment - it gives me a chance to explain this to people - ✌

    • @ivanstephen206
      @ivanstephen206 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn't sure if you had any control over it. (They do call it "You"Tube.) Worth a view anyway, even with the constant clicking of "skip ad". I wouldn't mind so much if they weren't junk ads. Nice walk!

    I could do without the music. Just the scenery and the occasional narration is good for me.

    • @stevewelchontario
      @stevewelchontario  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for checking it out - the scenery is amazing. But, being a songwriter, I made it into sort of a musical. ✌️
