I have a thought about the gameification of education you mentioned and I have a thought. You could find a way to turn these lessons into a video game, like Brian Age was based off a Japanese paper. There is one for the DS called My Spanish Coach so I think you can do something. I use Nintendo.
I don't think misusing "como" or any other word would make anyone sound "like a complete dork". Learning a second language is hard and natives understand that.

Yes! All of these words work exactly the same in Spain and in Latin America. (Most of our videos are focused on Latin American / Mexican Spanish.)
