Just upload your reference image with black bars in a letterbox format. The pika labs logo will be on the black bars and easy to remove
Incredible tip!
just realized its not so brilliant if you do a "camera pan down" haha, guess what happen@@curiousrefuge
100% this! I've been doing just that. Pre-setting aspect ratios on AI images to 1:1, screenshotting them at 3:4, and then running them through Pika, and converting back to 1:1.
Love it thank u

Haha - interesting prompt!
After months of trial, error, and stress to come across this video is a Godsend 🙏
Thanks so much!
Removing the watermark with Wondershare Pixie Cut was a great tip! It's essential for achieving that professional look.
Totally Agree!
is there any tutorial?
Yep. Removing watermarks is very professional.
Except it's against the TOS , Seeing as PIKA is free it wouldn't hurt to keep it
I love Curious Refuge! great job guys!
I would like to comment tho that "Tilt-Up & Tilt-Down" are the right terms for a vertical camera movement instead "pan up...pan down"
Here I share an explanation from StudioBinder: "A tilt shot is shot that uses a cinematographic technique called tilting in which the camera stays fixed but rotates up and down on a vertical plane. Tilting is similar to the motion of an individual raising or lowering their heads. This is different than the panning of a camera which also sits on a fixed but moves left to right. Equipment like a tilt-shift lens enables this vertical camera motion." ;)
Great feedback! We appreciate the correction :)
this is the video i was looking for. Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Your tutorial on creating cinematic AI videos with Pika Labs is a game-changer! Thanks for sharing! 🎥
Thank you so much! Cheers!!!
Thank you, things are changing fast. Great instructive video. Subbed
why is your picture a shopping cart?
@@pastoryoda2789 lmao
Same can be done easily enough in Stable diffusion the only real limit is the video will only stay cohesive for 3-4 seconds before things suddenly get weird.
Is that deforum or steps animation or controlnet?
@@CultofThings i use controlnet and the results are very decent.
DO YOU SEE HOW MUCH THOUGHT AND CREATIVE THOUGHTS HES ADDING!?!
It’s STILL art just basically commissioned by a robot it’s still your ARTISTIC IDEA!!!
We appreciate you watching!
You have shared an amazing video, thank you very much. I wish you great health, continued success in your work, and may you achieve all that you desire.
Thanks for watching!
Amazing! 🎉 for some time I was like one point is 3 sec vids but if we just keep changing scenes w right rythm then all good
Excellent, concise video. You didn't waste my time (like some videos do!).
I like the watermark part, at 7:00:
"How do we get rid of this watermark? ... All you have to do is click on the 'Remove Watermark' button."
It doesn't get any easier than that! 😁
Wonderful work. Please make a tutorial video on how you were able to generate video with synchronized mouth and face movements with Pika.
Great suggestion!
Great video, how do you create similar looking sets and videos in order to have a short movie with cohesive visuals …
Hello, we recently published a video using ai, we were very pleased with the process.
how we can find?
I saw in profil "Zahir Batın"@@sensual2096
Let us know how we can find it :)
Thank you! i am waiting for next teaching videos❤
Amazing video! Very helpful.
Glad you like it!
i find this really helpful and in general, your channel has helped me a lot!! i am making a short film only using ai tools and i was wondering, can i upscale the entire short to 4k, or do i have to do each shot individually?
You'd probably get better results if you did each individual shot!
@@curiousrefuge great thanks 😊
Where do we get that hoodie? Love it
All the best, thank 4 what you give from information 👏
My pleasure 😊
Fantastic tips on everything to do with maximizing Pika, which is an amazing tool. However, the rec for Wondershare was a miss. I tried to use it on a 3-second video, and it... just didn't process. Like, at all. I waited around for fifteen minutes. That and the UI isn't idiot proof, and I'm just that kind of idiot.
presumably all these individual steps will soon no longer be necessary, given the speed of development
100% agree, it's just meant to be a workflow that will be relevant for the next month or so. This will likely be a reoccurring series with the latest tech.
From your lips to Sam Alt.. (cough) God's ears!
i have tried gen2 and moon valley, they dont do what i have tried to do, so i will try pika lab, you have e peaked
Pikalabs is a great tool - you'll definitely want to try it :)
Awesome info, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great! I love pika :)
We do too! :)
How i can make a longer video, more then 3 sec?
Where's the video that was in your thumbnail?
You explained this quite well. I am now a subscriber. Question... Can a bright sunny day on the street be cinematic ... mostly in the definition examples they use dark rooms with special face and background lighting. But my scene is outside in bright daylight. Thanks
Paste some of your prompts for us and we'd be happy to see where the issue may be!
Excellent, thank you.
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video, Allan!
Awesome video like always. thanks for spreading the knowledge.
Our pleasure! :)
How could I not know about the negative prompts? Thanks a lot!
No problem!
pika is not bad but the default 3 second lenght is kinda short. also image quality seems to break apart with landscapes and such making them get muddy...... for me overall the image quality just could be better and i hope they work on that as time progresses.
It certainly will improve over time! Look how far it's coming in just 6 months!
Thanks, great video! Could you please tell me which program are you using for voice? Thanks
You are good, you know your stuff, thanks!
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
Hey man amazing video! Just a little question, what is the music at the start?
Let me check - many say it's from a video game!
I have a question about copyright, watermark, and commercial use for Pika Labs. Is it considered a violation when we remove the watermark?
Just do it and don’t tell anyone man. Cmon on now Boy Scout. If it bothers you so much just pay for it.
All of this is awesome, but I kinda feel to just wait like 6 more months for the tools to improve instead of wasting time 😬
I'll give my take, it's better to ride the wave, get in early and ride the wave up, learn along the way .. your audience will value your initiative into this unknown
Something that every single person here needs to be aware of - removing the watermark from pika labs videos without either having permission from the devlopers OR being part of the super collab program is a violation of the pika labs TOS - and people doing so illegally can lose access to pika until it launches. if you're going to do this, you might want to think very carefully if you want to lose your access or not.
We appreciate the heads up and warning!
Who gives a shit lmao
The future could be amazing...
Right?!
This is beautiful 👊👊👊
Thanks! Glad you like it :)

Hi, would love to learn what colors do ai use for for star wars color grading, it looks stunning, or if you could teach color grading exact like that

@CorridorCrew Idea for another episode of "Rock, Paper, Scissors"?
Hey, I want to use your first 20 second animation video, in my video for educational purposes. I'll give you credit in my video, so can I......

Is 3 seconds the longest video you can get? I'm just starting out. Pretty good so far with Midjourney images.
Cool trailer movie
Glad you like it!
Great video! Where's the music in the beginning from?
We get our music from Artilist!
It sounds awesome! Can you disclose the name of the song and/or the artist? Will definitely check out Artilist.
Thank you for this tutorial. I’m going to give it a try.❤
So glad you found it useful! :)
Great job
Thanks!
pixcut doesnt work anymore, anyone knows an alternative?
Can you adjust the length of the scene. This was 3 sec. Might be too short for some ideas.
I have two questions. Why do we need Midjourney or other apps when Pika can create the video from text? Also, how do we keep the same face in the follow-up scenes?
Midjourney can give you more precise control with your images and greater control with style. Also, MJ allows you to have character consistency which you can't get in Pika.
@curiousrefuge Hi, thank you for your help. I meant to say "Runway" for creating IMAGES TO VIDEOS, but IMAGE TO VIDEO GENERATOR is not available anymore on Runway. I tried Pika lab, but I didn't like it. It doesn't look very natural. Are there any other options for GENERATING IMAGES TO VIDEOS?
thank you !
You're welcome!
it's honestly better to wait a few more months instead of breaking your head with pika labs. ill give you my reasons why.
1. AI is advancing at crazy levels, it wont be soon before you have an improved text to video AI. pika is way too limited.
2. pika does not understand context properly. while it is an attempt to quickly create text to video, it clearly does not understand context as well as gpt does. if you type it a detailed description, it would ignore most of what you said. plus it cannot understand image context well either, which is why we get weird motion on things we dont expect motion with.
they must first improve the LLM and its capability of inferring conclusions from images, text and video in order to produce better videos.
3. midjourney and other AI's are already evidence that video AI can improve too, and very soon. midjourney images are almost indistinguishable from a photograph.
4. pika's default video render quality is bad. it is choppy low fps video and the resolution is super low.
5. pika only generates 3 second videos by default, which is totally useless in most scenarios for content creation, like cinematic scenes, explainer youtube videos etc. the length must be at minimum at least 8 to 10 seconds, and then we chop out the stuff we don't need.
6. in this age of AI, where it can understand text context very well, a simple user should not have to rely on a lot of manual parameters to get a scene made, which looks too complicated.
it should be as simple as trying to chat with a human, to get a scene created, just like you would chat with chatgpt. it must be as simple as telling it, "hey i want a scene created. where there is a guy infront of the camera with his hair moving in slow motion. the camera must pan from left to right. the scene lighting must be bright. apply motion blur."
the form of communication must be natural language at the very least. if not it is a shame in the age of AI. pika is ok but nothing great. someone will come up with a better app that gets better results with simple natural language. AI is already capable of deep context understanding. if pika does not fix these problems, someone better will come soon and replace them.
7. any company with a basic understanding of content creator needs would wait until their program could do all of the above at minimum, before releasing it to the public.
Re: #4. You can add the "-fps 24" parameter to your prompts and it helps a lot. Probably should be the default as per your point #6, but in case anybody wants to know.
Fun fact this comment was created by A. I
It does have that elaborate "extra detail" feel of an LLM reply. But do you have some inside knowledge here?@@Artstye4you

sometimes the result have very bad eyes, especially if there is blinking. how do you avoid this?
Why does the man in the example have a splatter of somthing on his face? What is that something? What are those things on his shoulder straps and why are they their?
This is quite an old demo, very often AI tools will generate artifacts that weren't intended :)
Since we’re talking about creating movies with AI, is there an AI tool that can help us generate cinematic sound effects for our movies? Sound is very important for achieving a cinematic effect, but I’m not sure if there’s any AI tool that can generate sound effects for movies.
Although there are AI music tools, for sound effects I believe it's still efficient and good quality to use stock sound effects companies (i.e, epidemic sound).
What brand of glasses are those? They are really cool.
Warby Parker but they actually stopped making them a few years ago. :/
Really nice free tool pika lab
Question:
(example) is it possible to edit your AI's room to a different perspective
But it only lasts 3 seconds? How can you make it last longer? Thanks
The trick is to generate mutliple scenes and edit them together. However, the tools coming out these days are enabling users to extend clips up to 15 seconds.
Hey Curious Refuge, I really appreciate the video, but I have a question. I am a story writer and I really wanted to learn how to create videos/animations using these AI tools, I have little to no knowledge about AI and I wanted to start learning about it, how can I start?
My goal was to produce storytelling videos with animations, since animating is very hard to learn without paying a mentorship or a course, I guess AI is the only way for someone on low resources like me. Do you think this video could be a start?
Be sure to check out our resources page on our website. We have lots of people you can follow on social media for free :)
Which one is better pika labs or runway in terms of quality and and distortion in your ooinion?
Pika actually is doing a bit better at the moment, but larger movements seem to be more stable with Runway. But both are great. I'd say if Pika was out of beta and could paywall watermark removal it'd be an easy win for them.
I have found Pika to be better at not "uber-morphing" but generally is more susceptible to "grainy motion distortion", especially at higher "-motion [1-4]" values. Runway will "lose the plot" and morph pretty quickly away from the starting frames, but generally has smoother output. My experience.@@curiousrefuge
thanks
Our pleasure!
So according to my understanding it’s $58 monthly for there plan unlimited use and users only get 3 seconds of video ?
You can extend scenes up to 15 seconds in Runway
When I try to add the Pika server it gives me an error message saying "integration requires code grant."
Ich habe noch eine Frage nämlich wie kann man es machen das die Bilder von den Charakteren immer gleich bleiben. Das der Haupt Charakter nicht immer unterschiedlich aussieht. Tolles Video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello, I watched your impressive video, I hope you give me some suggestions about AI courses
You can always check us out at curiousrefuge.com !
How much time did you put into the whole process to create that video? I'm guessing it took a few days,
I'm curious.
It entirely depends! But the Star Wars video in particular took just hours. :)
hey i am not able to generate clear faces when there are 2 or more faces in the image
It's tricky for sure - have you tried Faceswapper?
@@curiousrefuge no i haven't
this is "just" a cinemagraph
Hi, I don't understand how to make it long. When I create it it's max 3 seconds.
There are many tricks to extend a scene including the last frame a shot and injecting that shot back into the animation tool or even using Runways scene extender tool!
cheers @@curiousrefuge
I like using -m 4 and -gs 15
What does that do?
if you want less distortion and alot of movement in the camera movement, ""-gs 1 -m 4 works grreat!
"-m [1-4]" controls how much motion will be in the generated output and "-gs[1-24] controls how strictly the output will adhere to the instructions in your text prompt. I believe it stands for "guidance scale" @@AINIMANIA-3D
Really? I find that at m/4 that sometimes, not always, I get really blurry smeared video@@MatanCohenGrumi
@@LiebsterFeind I think higher gs settings will get that smeared video. But high motion settings with low gs settings gets you a lot of movement with minimum distortion. Of course low gs and low motion will get less, but also
Less camera movement…
Can you make animations in Pika Labs with still photos or 2d illustrations that are NOT AI generated?
Yes :)
plz mention all tools are free or not because mid juorney is not a free tool in so many ai video generators video its diificult to find which is paid or free
I appreciate the comment, in the future we'll be more clear about the tools and pricing where necessary. Thanks again for watching and letting us know!
I made an ai generated short story about Darth Vader and accompanied it with images. Will be nice if you have a look and tell me what you think :) Wondering if I shall make more of these, if people might like them. Also thinking about animation as in your video
Hey there - feel free to share it on any of your social channels and tag us!
is there a way I can add pika to my own server ?
Guys pika pro how many minutes of video can you have?
It starts with second so it's 3 seconds, then you can increase by 4 second intervals.
The beging AI Star wars 😮
Wait that Topaz tool is 300 buck? !😮 For still fairly fuzzy imagery... NOPE
its cringe.
Wow
Yeah... not spending $300 for Topaz.
True, there is certainly a price tag - but the results are great and keep getting better :)
Is it possible to generate videos in private, so no one else can see the work?
Yes! Runway is private and Pika Labs can join private servers in discord.
what i find amusing is how many gullible people think they are going to make a movie they had in their mind for many years but they had never been able to approach the very steep learning curve of 3d/vfx/compositing software, the incredibly high costs of cinema productions, etc etc, and so make their dream of fame come true; obviously this, in average, is absolutely not going to happen, since there are so many attempts, in the last years, by super talented teams of artists and directors who freely distributed fantastic short films made with traditional techniques and never arrived to the public, so it is impossible that these "democratic" cinema production pipeline will bring, in average, to anything other than an overproduction/saturation of mediocre videos at best
We agree! But the point is not how many people think the film in their mind will get famous - but rather - people can finally make the films at all. Whereas previously, it was gatekept by technology and many other things. For many people, the notion of being able to see their ideas come to fruition is what's important to them.
I thought -neg needs to be in quotes, like -neg "blurry"
No you can just keep the text open
I think this would be more of a tool, and not replacement for 2D animation, and 3D animation . If AI becomes a replacement for Art, it won’t be art at all.
Agree to disagree! We believe this will enable those that didn't use to have the tools to make their vision come to life. there is still plenty of room for improvement but each month these tools get better and better. Thanks for watching!
@@curiousrefuge I see your point, and yes, agree to disagree
Any limitations in there??

What's the deal with nearly all of the AI image/video platforms requiring Discord? Long ago I refused Discord because they asked me for my phone number, thats not really my cup of tea giving people I don't know my phone number. Just asking though. Does Discord provide the platforms with computing power? Why not have your chat room integrated with your website? Actual question, not meant to criticize people who use Discord and love it.
Good question - it's a combination of ease (once you get used to discord), being able to easily build a community (discord has a ton of plugins and features), and native controls (discord allows you to set roles and rules to how your app is used). There may be lots of other use cases too but those come to mind :)
