Is the issue with WPA2 and WPA3 and Wifi 6GHZ not being compatible just a Unbiquty issue or a standards issue. For example, have other vendors figured out how to do it? If it is a standards issue does Wifi 7 fix it?

Awesome, thanks for the good example.

Interesting. What’s the advantage over having different SSIDs? All I can think is to hide from view that other networks exist (although you can do that to an extend with hidden SSIDs)

It’s a neater solution than having lots of SSID’s and as you said it means users don’t know they are on a different network which could be useful, but it feels a bit gimmicky in its current form.

depending on the AP model you have, in general, each acces point is limited to about 4 SSID ( or 1 per antenna ) this way you broadcast 1 SSID but redirect to vLan through password.. really nice for condo complex with like 45 appartement and more. You could install 1 AP per 4 appartements but this way .. people still can use " their " wifi from anywhere in the building

@@daytekone Interesting, thanks. I also learnt recently that having too many SSIDs can affect wifi performance. So this would be useful for that as well.

Was expecting a different feature linked to this PPSK. Was expecting that finally you could have the same flow as you could do with PPSK from Aerohive AP.
I'd rather go with one SSID per network (internal, IoT, guest) to ensure you are connected to the proper one and have different way to connect to each (employee = certificate, guest = captive portal and IoT would be a password).
Having just a password alone defining which VLAN/network will be accessed if from my point of via a terrible idea. With one SSID per network/VLAN you've got a password AND a different SSID to be chosen.
PPSK with Aerohive let our employees have a dedicated random password to connect their mobile phone to the guest network. And the internal network is only accessible via certificate (deployed automatically on corporate devices). Guests can register to guest a time limited PPSK to access the guest VLAN. Would be lovely if I could easily reproduce this with Unifi ecosystem.

Yep all valid points, it feels like it’s not quite a finished feature on Unifi but hopefully we’ll see some improvements in future updates. Thanks for watching!
