  • My video of modifications made to a 4D56T engine in order to increase the turbo boost pressure.
    (This mod will be good along with an exhaust system and a snorkel)
    It's also a good idea to install an EGT gauge.

    Stock 4D56 N/A 1995. Transformed to a turbocharged a few months ago with stock fuel pump. A couple days later Turbo fuel pump installed and the difference was extraordinary. (No intercooler YET). Boosted to 1.1bar appx. 16psi a few weeks ago from Wastegate valve.(Gauge installed) Everything still OK. (Intercooler needed) Rear exhaust muffler removed today. Everything OK till now. Still intercooler needed. F...g intercooler... When the big Boom comes, WISECO pistons and rods and and and will be on the way from U.S to CY. :) I enjoy it when everyone assumes it's a N/A Pajero and I overtake them just like that... :) And yes, this is a video I've watched a year ago after buying my stock 4D56 and yes, it gave me some ideas...

    Great video, thx for sharing!
    Any idea whats the standard wastegate settings? Im just about to do same thing with my pajero! But I dont really understand how is this going to work, sorry 🙃. If the factory settings are 10psi and I set my boost controller at 15psi the wastegate actuator will open at 10psi anyway right? • @PERTHSCOOTER07

      SURF-4-LIFE the boost controller restricts the air pressure so yes your wastegate will still open at 10 psi, but there could be 15 or 20 psi at the manifold, but the boost controller is only supplying the wastegste 10.

    Better get your self a boost gauge. I did this on my 2.8 delica. Them ebay bleed valves are rubbish and dont work, tried 2 different types. Yes they increase the boost pressure but its uncontrollable boost. Mine was hitting somewhere around 25psi. With a proper boost controller you don't need washers. hi, i have an 89 triton non-intercooled, i was wanting to up the boost, im not sure what stock pressure is but i want more. do you have to do any other upgrades to fuel system or ecu to take advantage of the extra boost pressure? im not familiar with diesel's and tuning. i only want a little extra grunt out of it.

    • @PERTHSCOOTER07
      @PERTHSCOOTER07  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi there, its not advisable to up the boost pressure on the none intercooled model as more boost mean more heat, and without an intercooler adding more heat is a bad idea. You'd be best adding an intercooler as this will give more power due to lower intake temps, then you can think about upping the boost a bit from there.

    wait what im confused! what did you do exactly? usually when i see people adjust boost they are changing the tightness of the springs and such. you just changed a big screw and added something. (im still learning and i do not know very much.. obviously)

    • @PERTHSCOOTER07
      @PERTHSCOOTER07  8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hi Nick, The big screw thing prevents the boost from going above (approx) 14 psi, so without removing this you can't increase the boost by much. The washers under the wastegate actuator are the equivalent of tightening the spring like you said. This will give you maybe 2 extra psi, but thats about all. The something that I added was an adjustable boost Tee, which makes the boost adjustable to whatever psi I want it. You just need to be careful not to get carried away and wind too much boost in! Hope thats explains it a bit clearer.

      Dan Culley yes. I blanked mine as it seemed to be around 14/15psi. I reckon 18 psi would prob be max for a daily driver. Do a bit of research into egt’s and make sure you research diesel as petrol egt’s are different. When you add petrol it cools the temps. When you add diesel it increases the temps.

      @@PERTHSCOOTER07 in this case, what would make the EGTs hotter: increasing fuel at the compensator and leaving the boost stock, or increasing the boost and leaving the fuelling at the compensator stock? Thx

    BIG NO!!! even though you increase the boost pressure on your 4d56t engine, you have no clue as to by how much pressure you are running it. If you decide to increae the boost on your engine at LEAST do it the right way, get a boost pressure gauge, waste gate and Gradually increase the boost. Then on the fuel pump slightley increase the amount of fuel going to the engine. and keep emissions in check by MEASURING them. there is No other way than to do this in the workshop with the proper tools.

      soundprosound what you’re saying is the best way. But not everyone’s willing to spend big money on cars that are nearly 30 years old. I took the risk. It paid off. I’m happy and would do the same again.
