    I've got the NA version(FZ-07). Got it in 2014. Helped open the crate. It's now got 15k miles on it. 0 problems. I ride it year round because I live in Texas. It would have about twice that many miles, but I also have a Yamaha cruiser and I split my time between the 2. The only downside of this bike is the suspension is a little soft, but unless you are a super aggressive rider, it won't bother you. Mine is still basically 100% stock. I have only added a wind screen and engine and frame sliders. I've heard a lot of people say it's a bike for short people, but, I'm 6'3" @ 230lbs and I love it.

    This review looks good. I've been away from bikes for while and looking at middle weights like this. I'm 5'5" so guess this might suit, also looking at the the xsr700 which is the retro equivalent. Also looking at Suzuki SV650. Any advice on the best out of these appreciated. William.

    I'm 54 now and I rode a lot of bikes in my life. The Yamaha MT-07 is by far the best bike I've ever had, it's just a pleasure to ride. I changed the exhaust to an Akrapovic and mounted an Oehlins in the back. Than I made the rear end shorter. You won't find more value for the money anywhere;-)

    i'm really interested at the mt07, but I'm kinda worried about the low footpegs, I guess you can't do much leaning can you? could someone share their experience with that?

    • @tommy605
      @tommy605 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +KirbyGoezPink All kinds of videos of people leaning this thing really low. For street and canyon riding, it does get down pretty good. Haven't heard a single complaint about it from any of the videos I've watched.

    • @TheScatman89

      @JonQuirkUK 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nowell Holmes Hey Nowell, I'm 6ft, 168lbs and didn't feel cramped on the bike at all. Think bar raisers may be easier to install than rearsets but go and ride the MT-07 first before you do anything. I'll think you'll be fine. Best, J

    Great Bike for a new or experienced rider.The FZ 07 has good throttle response without being jerky and the suspension is set up well the way it is as opposed to the FZ 09 with its jerky fly by wire throttle and 2 soft suspension.They both have great engines and the FZ 09 has the best transmission of any bike I've ridden.The FZ 07 has a really good transmission also just the FZ 09 is a little smoother.Buy the FZ 07 and you have a great bike the way it is.Buy the Fz 09 and you have a powerful motor.Its just the FZ 09 could use steel braided brake lines,better rear shock and fork springs,and the engine computer flashed different for throttle settings so its not so abrupt.

    Looks like a nice bike. Like the review says, the sound isn't exactly inspiring, which is one of the unfortunate hallmarks of a parallel twin, regardless of displacement. I recently bought a new CBR500R, also a parallel twin. With the stock exhaust, it sounded like a sewing machine. My first aftermarket purchase was a Yoshimura R77 slip-on exhaust in carbon fiber. This one simple upgrade completely changed the character of the bike. Now it sounds like a Ducati. It doesn't add power, but that's not why you buy one (nor is it why you buy a middleweight bike with a parallel twin in the first place).

      I'm 6' 3" also, and about 230lbs. I have owned this bike now for 2 months and have roughly 2200 miles on it. Very comfortable, and no leg cramps at all so far. Longest ride I've done was hour and a half though, but still.

    Is this a good bike for a new rider?

    • @JonQuirkUK
      @JonQuirkUK 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Christian Mon, it's absolutely fantastic for a new rider: throttle response is sharp but not snatchy, the brakes have great feedback and the upright riding position isn't heavy on the wrists. It is such a beautifully balanced bike, it will really help you build confidence and develop as a rider. Not sure what stage motorcycle license you have but if you're based in the UK, Yamaha also offers an A2 conversion kit (limiting power to 48hp) that's free of charge. Best of luck with your decision! J

    • @ylism
      @ylism 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jon Quirk Even with just 48 BHP, it's still going to be lively fun bike, because of the weight, over 30 lbs lighter than the Honda CB 500F, and has bigger tires on the rear, and better brakes. it's price is just a little more, and it has so much more to offer down the road, and it has 1/2 the valve maintenance checks, of the Hondas CB bikes. But if you get the full powered bike, it would be best to ride it really easy, because it has 26 BHP more than the Honda's. Always better safe than sorry. Go to cycle ergos.com to see how it fits you.. My 2 cent to add. yl

    • @JonQuirkUK
      @JonQuirkUK 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey J, I'd go for the MT-07 every time. It's more rev happy, more fun to ride, plus you have the potential to customise more easily thanks to Yamaha's 'Faster Sons' sub brand. Unfortunately, I have recently left AutoTrader. I had a great time and a fantastic team, but a new venture awaits. I hope to bring bike reviews back to TH-cam on a brand new channel soon. Thanks for your continued support, J
