    Can we all just appreciate how amazing these two dogs are?! Magic for being so patient and not at all distracted whilst Finn keeps jumping around and inviting to play and Finn for being such adorable puppy who knows his commands and his fun!

    The post is educational, and informative. Finn, displays such exuberance and good ole Magic waits patiently for what's next.

    Not quite Top Gun...but, not Keystone Cops, either. Ahh, youthful exuberance. Finn's still got a lot of puppy in him. Magic's the patient old man. I dropped Lucy's leash yesterday and she took off around the yard in full zoomies. Sometimes you just have to wait it out. She tired in a few minutes, took a healthy poop and was ready for a nice walk. I love this breed!! Have a great day(n)!!

    Good job!! Dogs really don't want to be left out of activities but they did great. My two girl are from the same litter and that is a big challenge for me. It is really hard to just to walk one dog at a time for bonding time. Your dogs are so playful, I love it!

    Oh my goodness, I took Hazel out for a walk yesterday and she chocked herself the whole way! We didn't go far because she kept pulling to go back towards the house. I can hang onto her now, she's only 40 pounds but I need professionals! Great video and a lot of fun.......

    • @janhankins911
      @janhankins911 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please try a head halter (such as a Gentle Leader). Walks will be a whole lot more fun--not only for you, but for Hazel as well, as she won't keep choking herself the whole way. If someone tells you that a Gentle Leader is a really just a form of punishment, see here: drsophiayin.com/blog/entry/gentle-leader-head-collar-reinforcement-or-punishment (written by the late, great Dr. Sophia Yin--a veterinary behaviorist--a vet who specializes in behavior problems in dogs and cats). If you need to know how to get Hazel used to a Gentle Leader, watch this: th-cam.com/video/1wakterNyUg/w-d-xo.html Good luck! And have fun.

    I happened upon your videos and have enjoyed them a lot. You obviously love Finn and Magic and take wonderful care of them. But I notice you're still using very "old school" training methods. The "choke collar" is a punative method of training and is (I'm sorry to say) based on fear and pain. It's "if you don't do what I say, I'm going to scare or hurt you". Nowadays, many people are switching to a more positive methods. It's "if you do what I want, I'm going to give you a wonderful thing". The positive method gives you a better result and improves the relationship between you and your dog (because you never hurt them or make a noise to scare them). If pulling on the leash is a problem, a much more humane method of "fixing" this is with the use of a head halter (such as a Gentle Leader) until you've trained them to have better manners on a leash. I also notice you're training outside where there are lots of distractions. It's important to start training in the house (with few or no distractions) until the behavior is at an acceptable level (and then you gradually add distractions--it's a lot easier to learn something new when there aren't a lot of distractions around ("hey, come do something fun with me", "hey, look at the cute puppy on TV, etc.). I'm not saying this to be mean or to say you're a terrible owner or person. You aren't. You obviously love Finn and Magic and they are very lucky dogs to have you as their family. You take excellent care of them. And many years ago, I used the more punative methods of training, too. Then I met someone who changed my mind and showed me a better way--she changed my relationship with my dogs for the better and I'll never go back to reliance on collars and "corrections". My current Dane (Lina) is a puppy mill survivor and is extremely fearful (she's quite something, Lina and will never be "normal" but we love her). I could never use any kind of punishment with her, but she does wonderful using positive methods. Please consider consulting with a positive trainer in your area and work with Finn and Magic on basic stuff and learn about positive training methods. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results and in the improvement in your relationship with them. I hope you and your followers take this in the spirit in which I mean it--to be helpful.

    • @janhankins911
      @janhankins911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By the way, you can use positive training methods to train many "parlor tricks" (like having your dog turn lights on or off; shaking his or head yes or no, bringing you a tissue or a beer from the fridge, crossing their legs, even "dog dancing"--one of our favorites is to say "Lina, do you love [insert the name of the person] and she nods "yes"). You could never achieve this with punishment but you an easily achieve this with positive methods. I'm a convert to positive training and want to help others see the benefits, as well.

      They are obviously loved! It’s nice to know you are open to learning new methods of achieving the same results! These beautiful dogs just need more people like yourself who love them and their quirks 🤣😂🤣 Mine is sleeping under the covers since it’s winter here in Australia 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😜

      @@MichaelCoburn is it possible in your opinion to have a unique neutered male live with a neutered male when one of them is old enough at 13 months or even later ?

    • @MichaelCoburn
      @MichaelCoburn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you’re asking if you can have a neutered and and unneutered male live together? My only concern would be “marking” which is why we neutered Finn finally at one year.

    If you are a professional trainer , these dogs need more discipline as they don’t respect you. Get a prong collar and watch Jarrett diyk9 video and they will be fixed. If you are owner then that’s pretty good
