- As we continue on our travels to play 100 African Golf Courses, we have decided to move a little North of the Garden Route, leaving the ever popular coastal route to explore some more off the beaten track locations.
First stop is Oudsthoorn, the Ostrich capital of South Africa, you can buy anything made from Ostrich in this town, but we have focused on the golf and the camping, both of which were surprisingly good.
Leaving Oudsthoorn we head up through the Swartburg Pass, via the Cango Caves, this is a nerve wracking dirt road with some very narrow bends!
Following a night camping is Prince Albert, we head back down to route 62 via the Meiringspoort Pass, on a much better road - thank goodness.
Driving along Route 62 enjoying the scenery and the various land marks, including Ronnies (Sex) Shop, great place to get a snack or a drink.
Finally driving into Cape Town where we played the beautiful Steenberg Golf Course, number 31 of our Africa 100 challenge
Some of those roads look hairy! Luckily the landrover can cope! Weather still looks fab! ☀️ xx
Oh my goodness, they were sheer drop off's in places, and some didn't even take that into account - it was closed last time we came to the area 8 years ago - closed because there had been a landslide - that tells us not to get too close to the edges!!
Steenberg GC looks incredible. Drove past it, but never went in. Stayed just up the road from the course.
Great photography again.
Thanks Andrew, when you go back we'd definitely recommend you add Steenberg GC to your list of must plays. Its a pretty part of SA to explore.
Just catching up. Great video guys
Thanks for taking the time to catch up and so pleased you're still enjoying our adventures around Africa.
Hey Sarah and Steve,
Another great video, damn some of those roads are tight. Those caves look amazing.
Andi the Landy is set up so well. Fantastic. Steenberg GC looks great. Some of the holes look excellent.
Thanks for sharing the video.
Cheers
Joe
Thanks Joe, some of those roads are tight indeed, scary stuff when there some idiots around! Cango caves are unusual as they remain a constant temperature being in the hillside. Steenberg is really great and wonderful to see them making it more environmentally friendly too. Thanks for watching Joe.
It’s a beautiful drive all those lovely places !!
Stunning Laura- we’re very lucky to be visitors in your country
Lovely well done xx
Thank you ❤️
Love how Steve hasn’t got a clue where he is 😂😂😂😂😂
Oh that’s normal- but I’m not much better sometimes 😂😂
Those roads look a bit scary 😮
They were! Beautiful scenery though
