    Sugar Plum Fairy for a drum riser build? Why not?

    You need to assemble the outside frame first dude, that way you will find it easier to fill in the middle pieces!
    Good design an construction anyway.
    Well done!

    Shaileen, nothing available on the market. My sons band needed a drum riser. I watched a couple of videos, drew up some plans, cut out the pieces and then put this together in a day out in my shop. It's all custom made, nothing store bought other than the hinges and raw wood to make this with.

    Very good! Could've enjoyed it, at triple speed, though; perhaps with March, of The Bumblebees?

      March of the bumblebees 😂

    Sure, wouldn't be a problem at all to add 1 or 2 more hinges to make the top a smaller folded foot print to carry. Would need to put the hing(s) over a bottom style for support to walk on. As to cost, I made this back in November of 2013 for my son's band. I believe it was about $75 in material and perhaps 3 hours in time.

    I’m curious doesn’t this design cause sympathetic resonance which sucks for mixing live drums?

    Could /would you be willing to share your template setup?

    I made one kinda like this, but the top folds into a box to store the bottom grid in.

    Top is too soft. Better use 3/4 ply. Otherwise this is a common design. Angle the slots a bit to guide easier. Good job.

    Nice! I wouldnt trust velcro straps to hold the top on, but other than that, I like it.

    i love this so educative,please what are the likely materials for quality drum stage riser

      Wemimo Nancy i used 7/16" chip board. For indoor purposes this works fine. For outdoor i would recommend marine grade plywood.

    I think that The Hall of the Mountain King would have been way more dramatic.

    Not bad, a few small improvements and maybe a teeny bit larger and you have a super solid platform. Good job!

    Cool, I wonder if you could make the top piece into several hinged pieces so you could carry this easier. Great job, how much did it cost to put together?

      I just made one that the top folds up into a box that holds the bottom grid.

    We need a riser like this for our theater band. What are the dimension?

    • @DesertChickenDad
      @DesertChickenDad  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The dimensions are 8'x8'x16". Easy to make, I made a stencil to cut out all the pieces with my router so all is the same. Fits together very nicely and is very sturdy plus easy to transport and store. Only thing I would say is to use 1/2" ply rather than 7/16 chip like I used.

    Do you know how much weight this will support?

    • @DesertChickenDad
      @DesertChickenDad  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lauren Hollier no i do not know the weight it would support. Would depend on the thickness of the material used and how tight the slip joints would be. I used 7/16" chip board. I would think if plywood were used that it would greatly improve the weight ratings... but keep in mind i'm just someone who threw this together to solve a problem quickly for my sons band. I hadn't put a lot of thought into this when i made it. I used what i had in my shop at the time.

    Put installation in blocks next time before u put top on. It cuts on bass buildup.
