For real. Go Army or Air Force, i washed out of Navy EOD at 19, got lucky and ended up an air traffic controller but a lot of guys get saddled with horrible rates and never get off the ship and going back to any special program is next to impossible once they send you to the fleet. And the fleet is insanely toxic towards spec war drops.
The issue with the Navy is salty detailers I had a kit to go Diver, got approved by my command, had a ND1 and an NDC vouch to bring me in for PST etc Routed the chit, detailed recycled it said I wasn’t in the fleet long enough, 17months at the time and I was dual pinned so I can only imagine a spec war drop trying to go back. A good friend went EOD and DOR at dive school ended up on a small buoy as an EM got his SAR qual and is enjoying his non spec war career.
One of my motivations for getting through EOD Pipeline was that I would have had to be an AO (my Source Rating at the time, before EOD became its own rating in mid-2006).
You give great advice for the future generation I look back wishing I would have went the officer path but I was trying to get into the fight as soon as possible I turned 18 at fort Benning went to jump school ended up with the 10th mountain did 7 and now I have a beautiful pension from the VA with my 100% SC

Went to Walter Reed for two years and now 100% p and t living the good life. Crazy you got to Deploy so many times my one bro deployed 5 times without a scratch He was at our outpost for two weeks and got killed the day I got shot It’s insane he went through 5 deployments untouched and then 2 weeks with us was Kia. He had 5 kids and a wife beautiful family. It’s very sad

even if u don't make it to rasp or special forces training u can go airborne EOD diver school sniper school anything the opportunities are great I was infantry national guard and was offered sniper school well our whole platoon was given the chance then u qualify every year to get your expert infantryman badge and or you will have so many schools u can go to if you want to promote faster. Man the coolest thing you can do in the army is infantry officer or armor officer . The third officer job is intel it depends on your unit try to get a sof support role if you go intel I know a guy did intel after rotc and he got a book of certs from some high speed schools like tactical man tracking , jtac , ranger school , advanced mountaineering , urban tactics and strategy , even a loadmaster course , special ops target acquisition course basically a sniper school without precision shooting but like I said it depends on your unit he was in the ranger bat and before that did around 4 years of infantry support . But he told me the best place to do intel in the military is supporting cag or joining a smu or being a ranger he was like regular intel sucks ass he got to go on targets with the team not many targets he told me he was in the reg intel is basically mostly in hidesites watching a targets routine making sure it’s who they’re after he told me he was like since around 2005 the hidesite thing is getting less and less common due to satellite imagery why go outside the wire to watch someone when some e4 drone operator can watch him in a air conditioned trailer in Nevada

No the fuck it's not. Thyroid issues, heart issues, torn ligaments, broken bones, torn muscles...they will drop you or medically separate you from the process. Where do officers get hired for their leadership? (except as SMEs/DoD companies) It doesn't exactly translate to the business world.
It actually does, especially considering they have college degrees.
Literally anywhere.
