    10:20 "So here we are in Paris!" Driver *yawns*. Couldn't help but snicker at that.
    27:07 "Is there a reason you don't have round abouts?"Oh! Mate! Come on!" That, that is the reason. We have them, but not alot of them. Mostly in "up scale nieghborhoods." But yea, most of us have trouble stopping at a normal 4 way, imagine if most of those were replaced with roundabouts. There would be none of us left.

    • @FerrybigGaming
      @FerrybigGaming 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The engine brake is not the same brake as the parking brake, the engine brake is for high speed braking by making the engine spin fast, which has better cooling than normal brakes. Great for downhill mountain sections

    Roundabouts in the U.S are horrible. No one really knows how to use them. Most people just wing it. They were put in to make less accidents happen, but they just cause more crashes. The idea was that intersections caused the most accidents so roundabouts were put in to get rid of intersections. Yeah, great idea to put in an area where no one stops and get rid of an area where people do stop due to stop signs.

    The main reason that us North Americans don't have roundabouts is because most Americans never learned how to use them correctly and therefore they cause a lot of problems with people who don't know how to use them (which is virtually everyone). Though Québec has more than the rest of NA, they still are not taught how to /correctly/ use them. E.G, people here don't understand that you are not supposed to stop before entering them, and that you are supposed to treat it like as if there were a yield sign (but then again, some people also stop at yield signs too lol). So basically the reason they aren't common here is that people here aren't taught how to use them efficiently. (And also because the ones that are built here aren't big enough)

    • @Cal94
      @Cal94 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the true crime is, in Toronto, ontario, i've seen a few bastardised roundabouts. either with stopsigns at all entrances, or with yield signs for only two of the four directions of a roundabout, while the other two directions have right of way to proceed.

    you can use the parking brake, air brakes, trailer brakes, and exhaust brake and you'll stop in a blink of an eye. just button map everything close by and jam on all of them.

  • @Le_Sourpuss
    @Le_Sourpuss 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The only trouble with roundabouts, is that they usually turn a 1-way traffic jam into a 2-way traffic jam since the traffic in the direction that's jammed, will usually obstruct the roundabout. This doesn't happen with traffic lights if drivers don't advance when there's no space left (which sometimes happens). The traffic lights guarantee that there is no interference provided that drivers are civilized/ know how to drive lol. That being said, when there's no traffic jam, I much prefer roundabouts because you don't have to stop and waste gas/time/ and unnecessarily wear off break pads and engine, when there's no one even coming. They also reduce serious head-on accidents and are cheaper in the long run. So I guess the best solution is to place roundabouts in places that are not prone to traffic jams but traffic lights (or even better, an overpass) in typical traffic-jam spots. As for the tree, I think they should just remove that out of the game lol. They clearly didn't prepare the game for it.

I still find myself remembering that it is a game and having it there so i can focus on the left side and keep my head straight. It just makes it easier and more enjoyable especially with wide loads. A friend of mine has a Peterbilt 579 and he now has cameras setup, backup, blind spot, front and a few others all mounted on the dash in front so he can see everything that mirrors just don't work good for and they zoom. Just a tip when you get stuck or have traction issues. Change the trans to manual shift instead of auto. I've found that this stops the trucks traction control kicking in, you'll notice when your stuck that the engine revs up then dies, revs up dies etc. this doesn't happen in manual mode. Worth a go anyway, worked for me. Btw love your uploads!

    hell, it's a regular thing to have a 25M (82 FT) long rig running around. longer with tandem steer bed trucks, jeeps, and boosters as well.
    edit: actually looked it up and i guess 30.5M is the longest for over length loads. of which you'll see many if you hit the highway.

    Almost 10 years later, I can say the reason North America doesn't have a ton of roundabouts is partly historical -- we originally did, but the right of way was given to drivers entering the circle rather than drivers already in the circle, which almost entirely defeats the purpose and led to lots of wrecks. So the signal proliferated instead. In modern eras, it's more just a lack of familiarity -- a lot of driver's ed programs don't teach roundabouts at all. However, I am seeing them spring up much more frequently in suburbs here in the US. I don't think any cities will be putting in major roundabouts any time soon like you see in European cities just due to cost, but in places where new development is happening, they are becoming more common. And as communities see the benefits (roundabouts have a 90% reduction in fatal accidents compared to signals & stop signs), I think that will continue.

  • @MTGeomancer
    @MTGeomancer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Roundabouts may be uncommon, but I wouldn't say rare. Mostly they show up in new developments. They take significantly more space, so it's offen impossible to implement in existing infastructure. It's simply a cultural thing. The rotaries we have are for the most part single lane ones, hardly difficult for anyone to navigate. People fear the unknown, they've spent their entire lives living with stop lights and signs, they know it, they're familiar with it. I've been to foreign countries that have 3+ lanes within the roundabout and it is intimidating when you don't know the rules.

  • @DieselMech
    @DieselMech 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason America doesn't have round-abouts is because they're typically much more efficient for large vehicles. such as a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500, crew cab with an 8 foot bed do not like using round-abouts. small European cars are much easier and turn on a dime.

    Speaking on MODS. Years ago I played the original Aliens vs. Predator on my computer and there was a mod I got that would show the location of an enemy in the marine campaign, the Zenoborg, which was suppose to be a hard thing to kill and absolutely terrifying and had these Sun Fire melt you in a sec Laser Beams, anyway where one or two was to be it just wasn't so I missed on the horrors, I tell you I was better off not knowing and not getting that mod. What did is it actually loaded one up near me, and if I killed it, the bloody mod would just load it up again, so I ran and it actually tracked and followed me it was both funny as all hell and absolutely terrifying at the same time. I'd run away get what I thought was far enough go through a door shut it gets high up put my back to a wall patched up caught my breath and waited and sure enough the door opens and I could here it walking in and I was like really here's the tag along. I'd loose it then back tack some and there it was. However it would load this thing up with me no matter what level and I got to bring it along and it took on and interacted with the other enemies other aliens and the Predator lol it was helping me. Anyway I finally had to unload it and found it corrupted my enter game so I had to uninstall everything and start over. But that was a crazy MOD.

    I live in Canada and I’ve only ever drove through one roundabout and that was in a different province from where I live. I think the main reason for our lack of roundabouts is our governments (both Canada and U.S.) have been very traditional with out transportation systems until recently with the crazy amounts of traffic, but now it is too late and the vast majority of drivers have no idea what a roundabout is or how to use them properly so our countries avoid spending the money to teach people and don’t want everybody t-boning each other because they don’t yield at roundabouts! Lol

    Hey just watched ur vid and that was friggin hilarious. I can't believe what that toll booth did to ur truck and that scania steeling ur toll. That was priceless. I just got into ets2 not to long ago. Actually got it to practice backing up trailers and what not before I took my road test to get my truckers license. Needless to say I passed my test and am still playing ets2, it's just too much fun. I really want to try that load. Where would I be able to find that mod?

    I agree with Baegislash in that people don't know how to use them; on the roundabouts. In our State we just now started implementing them here and there I think we are testing them out and people just get so confused which I can't understand how. The concept is quite simple and it is actually much more beneficial than a traffic light.

    And tbh pal you’re the one beaching it.. no offence (:
    like the sharp turns off the motorway you didn’t stick right so your trailer was hitting the left side guard rail hence the grinding and getting beached!
    And in Paris you wasn’t paying attention hence the traffic messing up the beaching on the sides and cars
    And yes the bridge wasn’t your fault at all! Other then that it was an amazing video haha!

    I live in Spokane, WA, and we have probably 6-7 roundabouts in town. I didn't even know it was an uncommon thing, nobody here has problems with them. The worst thing that happens is people not using their blinker on the way out.

  • @nulltull
    @nulltull 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dude!!! You NEVER use your blinkers going into the roundabouts...!
    Only out of the roundabouts... *StoreInYourMind*
    I am from Norway - and over here we have a shit-ton of roundabouts!

    "Roundabout" in Manitoba (Canada). Not many here either, mostly because people don't know how to use them. They have been building more recently so here's hoping no one dies...

    America uses similar high tension lines to Britain from the pics I've seen. Basically it's like the Eiffel Tower, but with a skinnier base, and it's got the arms to hold the lines. But the pictures I saw looked very very similar to the high tension lines in the area where I grew up.

    Being from the US, the reason we don't have roundabouts is because our drivers are idiots and city planners would rather have as much inefficiency as possible. Yay 'murica. #iwishiwasBritish

    It's true we don't have round about a. We have no use for them as our cities are not as populated as yalls. We have a lot of land to build cities as the UK is quite small. Our cities quite frankly build up and out. So to waste money on round abouts is quite silly.

    There is something to be said about this game's ability to give you a sensation of speed without having to make the cars/trucks go at 1000 km/h, like in racing games for example.

    6:20 if you want stronger brakes, you can get to the game settings en put on automatic retarder or engine brake, it gives more braking power. you should be aware, if you brake hard from higher speeds , you can lose controle and jacknive...

    Round a bouts are not very effective, as they clog up and slow down traffic, when traffic lights can be controlled by a human or set to certain amount of time limits during different periods of time when there is more or less traffic, or there are sensors in the ground that can tell when a car is waiting at a traffic light and change it.

    They barely have roundabouts in America that's true, whenever they try to build new they will always have many fatal accidents because they're not used to driving in them. They have the four way stop system instead.

    mod authors before the truck speed limiter had no clue how to turn off the truck speed limiter so you should respect them in this case. it isn't their fault. now we have an option so from now on criticize them in any way you desire, squirrel.

    The US has some roundabouts but we have loads of traffic lights instead. They are normally used for a small intercection and you still need enough space for them so we just have stop signs instead.

    ik this is kinda late, but you can also use the trailer brake to slow down. That gives more brakingpower because of the weight. if you have heavier trailers, then you will stop better if you use trailer brake

    Why the Physics mod includes an engine? Because you wouldn´t get up any hill with a load heavier than 35 tons with any engine that is in the game, while that mod is active, even with the heavy cargo addon.

  • @LowImpedance1
    @LowImpedance1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    the mirror lets us see how that extended load travels down the road, also about the breaking I don't know what you were doing but if you need extra breaking power use engine break or retarder and trailer break that will stop you in a hurry.

    No no no! Do not use the parking brakes while moving, the wheels WILL lock up and you will lose control...and it will damage the brakes as well.

    Never pull the parking break while moving. The Volvo and freightliner trucks have a trailer break which you can pull while movie to help decrease speed.

    I don't understand why having an analog throttle means you can't use cruise control? You simply press C, and the throttle no longer needs to be pressed.
