This is not a storm Brunswick nor hammer motiv ball review bowling ball video - กีฬา
I think the defining characteristic of EJ’s swing is not that he does a figure 8, but how violent it is on the forward part of the swing
Fact 💯💯💯💯
Yep. His super sick “yo yo” release
Exactly. I said that in my comment as well. Always reminds me of a striking cobra.
That elbow snap
He’s so loose with a tight thumb, that it just allows him to snap it off after the violent elbow bend followed by his spider man web shooter release. (I never liked the yo yo analogy)
Trying to bowl like Ej without a motiv venom shock is just silly
EJ has way more sideways back tilt, which is essential for his accuracy and arm whip. Definitely not an easy swing to copy and most people would probably end up injured bowling as many games as the pros have to.
I did see a slight difference, but this just kinda looks like your regular form. I thought the whirlwind form looked pretty good when you tried it.
I could watch Tackett bowl all day. His swing is so satisfying.
The power EJ generates at release is amazing! Absolutely my favorite to watch. Gives hope for us 1handers still 😂 granted most of us can’t get half the Revs he does
Doesnt really look like the ball ever really gets behind you at all. Where you do the first part well and it starts to go inside you'd lift it up straight. But overall pretty good. Missing that EJ snap though which you basically have to be Gumby to do.
So which shot did you do the figure 8 because they all look the same as your normal swing
lol.
True . He did say terribly lmao😂
as far as i know, none looks even close to an ej tacket release. 😅
I was trying to do that last night .. and man, paying for it today. I find it incredible how good EJ Tackett is in the way that he bowls. Amazing. You bowl that way pretty well, much better than I do, that's for sure. I would be absolutely horrified to see what I look like trying to do this, it's bad enough seeing how I look with my normal form (disgustingly bad, but getting better).
I love how you're trying so many different approaches!! Keep crushing it brother!
Got to see him live a few weeks ago. I have to say, he has one of, if not, the best forms I have ever seen. He has been my favorite for a few years and he’s just ramping up
This is done through abduction during backswing and adduction on release. Look up DYDS, it's a whole bowling coaching pedagogy based on that concept.
220 I like it, also I think that your release has always been good it’s just more about the follow through. I noticed when you followed through over your head the ball had a better rotation and looked great. Keep up the good work, improvements are showing. Keeping showing up. Also love the tip about recording your shot. Your absolutely right about that.
To me, it looks really good! Ive been watching you for a long time and to me, this is some of the best ball motion ive seen from you throwing 1 hand. It may be because you are getting more revs, or it may be because of the way you are coming out of the ball now, but my eyes likes the ball shape much better. The physical game needs work but I think if you work on it, maybe add some aspects of the ej swing to your regular form but still trying to feel comfortable, I think it could work out. Cool video idea!
One thing that EJ Tackett does (and other PBA pro's do too) that I am working on, is they snap their release starting with their shoulder and whipping their elbow, like snapping your friend with a wet towel. Almost every top PBA pro (1 hander) does this move. That is how they get such high rev rates, especially EJ Tackett.
Not true. There is no shoulder or arm involved. What you see is an upturn of the wrist on the downswing and a release of the wrist at the bottom of the swing. Hence, the common term "yoyo" release. Most coaches teach, shoulder instability, and arm swing equals very inconsistent shots.
@@xouijit77 - I know what I can see in many many slow-mo videos .. there are literally hundreds of them on YB.
@squidly2112 Well, alrighty then. 👏 Do things your way.
The most incredible swing I've ever seen hands down. EJ Tackett has some insane revs. This is gonna be a crazy video
I think Mikey Tang has the best form in bowling, and Daria is right up there with him.
@@Tcrror id have to disagree, mikey throws it good but theres so many names its hard to say he has the best. Andrew Anderson, Chris Barnes, Frankie Lavoie. Its hard to pick who throws it the best but Ej is the GOAT so him and belmo obviously throw it the best.
One thing to consider when watching EJ is how he gets his body out of the way almost like a two hander does. Look at his bend in the beginning and the lines you drew compared to your own position through the swing. If you can do that the rest maybe easier to do. Currently it looks like you are going to destroy your left ankle at some point.... no one wants that.
Though I don’t think it’s quite EJ (like you said) but you are rotating much better but still releasing like you. I think you’re going 700+ in league this week
Not bad for a first attempt. I've tried this too. EJ just makes it look so easy.
EJ does the yo-yo off the thumb release and I think that’s the biggest difference here.
4:56 Belmonte US Open 2024 in one shot 😅 Love your videos and salute from France !
BrodieandKianbowl is Allways watching 😂 🎉
The point of the figure 8 is to bypass the crossover step, keep trying 😂
Really good video
1:47 “hey Randy! What pin is that again?”
The most fluid figure 8 to me is Big Wes
I think if you try this again, you need to focus on getting your hand to the inside of the ball on the downswing. That is what really creates the look of the figure 8 in his swing, and it should help improve your release overall if you can get the feel of your hand moving to the inside of the ball in the swing.
Cool video talk tech bowling open bowling how did you bowl all 3 bowling games series scores Michael
Now that’s great content. I apologize for our taped ball disagreement. This was good and looks like something you could be fit from.
No worries brother. I can’t make everyone happy with every piece of content
I have a small one in mine But sometimes it bites me in the ass because I won't come back in and then I'm way outside my body and fall off balance
when done right, a lot of torque is created, same idea as a golf swing that can be done like this as well. The difficulty I see with it is getting back to the right position at release.
EJ is the best bowler on the planet period lol. 😅
Ej has that violent snap at the bottom
You looked more comfortable with the whirlwind swing
Should totally do a video on bowling like matt jones 🤣🤣🤣
It’s not the figure 8. The main difference is that EJ swings the ball freely while your swing is extremely stiff. He gets the explosiveness by having his muscles relaxed during the entire swing and only contracts them in a millisecond.
It’s like any hit in sports that requires explosiveness. Baseball, Golf, Tennis, Boxing, etc. Your arm, forearm, wrist need to be relaxed in order to hit hard.
You have what i call the “bodybuilder syndrome”. You are not swinging the ball. You are doing some kind of biceps routine with your swing and that will never work.
Imagine boxing with stiff arms. That’s basically what you are doing with your bowling.
Good luck 😊
Looked good for not doing it too long, you sure do get more revs. I would like to bowl terribly and average over 220.
Do you bowl in philadelphia or Pennsylvania
That's about how I've been bowling this league season so far while trying to copy his swing, it has me all screwed up lol. I'm slowly starting to give up on it and just bowl the way I feel comfortable.
I’ve been seeing a lot of figure 8 drills at the line. I have an issue with my release and people think this might help. I should also record myself. But, I hate people coming up to me and asking why I’m recording. 😅
From my untrained eyes, it seems the difference with EJ is that you have your wrist cocked more at bottom of swing and more rotation. Enjoy your channel and your journey to greatness. Much luck.
The summit is the best ball out there, I love it
Kept it consistent
With your normal (old) backswing being high and outside, trying to bring it back to the inside can only help. It would be interesting to see a slow motion comparison of your old swing vs this video and see if/how much difference there is.
Ejs hands are just insanely fast.
It honestly looked way better than your normal style. More fluid with better timing and balance. I would say keep going with it.
Hey it's Aaron. Same thing I commented he's always been afraid of that outside in swing path but it loops to the right spot and his balance is far better and he doesn't turn sideways at the line like he often does. His regular swing he gets open too soon and winds up 90° at the foul line.
@@AverageLeagueHack Is this Aaron from Ron's team at Nationals?
@@nordattack yes
@@AverageLeagueHack Cool. You doing Nationals on Ron's team this year in Vegas?
Walter Ray Williams, Jr.
Wes Malott
EJ Tackett
All figure 8 swings, all great players.
Nice work. 3 things I think you're missing. 1. Hand on the inside of the ball. 2.opposite ball hand arm and shoulder ar different. 3. Your spine tilt is not extreme enough causing your follow through hand to go to the outside instead of in front of your face
It's not a figure 8, it's like a golfer 'dropping it on the inside" to create more leverage.
is that the brunswick world spare ball?
Recording myself in practice allowed me to become way cleaner with tons of power 💪🏻💯
its not a figure eight motion but bio mechanic of the human body.
That summit looks great!
Your first throw in game 3 really looked good to me.
That was my favorite one too. I had trouble getting the swing to tuck back in but it came back in really good there
@@220avg - Man, how EJ Tackett does it so well is just impressive as can be. He's one of the very best 1 handers in the game. He's #1 seed for the Indiana tournament tonight. What I find most impressive is how much rev rate he gets with such a high ball speed. WOW! .. seems the harder I throw the less rev rate I can generate. Well, this is why I don't bowl for a living, I would be starving more than I already am .. LOL
Not one figure 8 release in this video 😂
It's crazy how figure 8 works so well for you
If you bowl regularly and not try to copy someone's style
This actually looks way better then you short swing one handed approach.
Hi Mike - glad you're trying new things to improve your game. I'm not sure if this is the one for you, but you had some shots in this video that looked really good. I don't know, but the shots that looked the best resulted in you getting the ball about a foot over the foul line and your body position was a little straighter......just sayin'. I was in your shoes as well......bowling great, then my game went to hell, then trying to get it back I tried different styles and felt like an unoiled robot. Nothing was working, then one day I thought just pick up the damn ball and go, and I started bowling better again. It brings in your natural ability that you probably had in the beginning. Anyway, keep working at it and thanks for sharing this video with us.
Looking at wes malott's swing and lowering your backswing would probably beneficial for accuracy for you
You should try my backswing/release.
Mike can do anything....
Backswing looks right. Work the inside of the ball more with hand/wrist/forearm position till point of release. Looks like you’re getting around too soon too much. I do the same… I’ve really started paying attention to where my hand/forearm and wrist are in the entirety of my swing and every step I take until I get to the bottom. Helped a lot with ball action and pin carry.
Holy smokes he averaged 220
It’s because you approach the lanes sideways so it’s always going to be that you bring your arm to the side not trying to be mean but you always ask lol love the content
The only thing that you was missing is the follow thru with your fingers thru the ball, like throwing a baseball, and not around the side of the bowling ball.
What ever you doing you got more confidence in your swing and that’s what matters
Figure 8 is definitely something that will help get your swing in line. Biggest idea is you want to make sure you bring the swing behind you at the top of the swing. One thing I just want to respectfully point out that I’ve noticed in several of your videos one handed is that when you get the to top of the swing your hand turns to the outside of the ball which is going to make it impossible for you to release it how you want to. I would try to make that an area of focus and you might have better results. The video where you where doing what you referred to as the whirlwind swing was closer to figure 8 so I would apply what you were trying there and just tweak that version of it.
That has always been my problem thumb in and why my rev rate is very low.
I bowl thumb out and my hand is inside the ball (to help hold onto it on my back swing) and I can generate all the revs I need.
The foot speed isn't quite there but it's not bad for a first attempt.
try pushing away more to left which will force your backswing to go to the right.
EJ is able to way to throw it the way he does cuz he weighs like 140 soaking wet, yet he's 6'1'' I think. Able to get EVERYTHING out of the way during the swing.
Tbh although we’d be honest your bigger than EJ Tackett, we can all agree and yes behind camera looks can be deceiving but Mike is pretty much bigger than him and I wouldn’t blame if he stronger than EJ overall but EJs swing is very much different. His swing is just so violent but also looks natural for EJ. It’s kinda hard to duplicate EJs throw bc for him it’s natural and that probably just his natural strength he’s developed over the years. Even for EJs size, he throws faster, stronger, and more rev rate than any other 1 one hander on the PBA. Only person that comes to my mind is probably Kevin McCune but even himself is a big dude. EJ just a different animal. But for Mike, I’m sure he put more hook and power to it but honestly Mike it looks natural to you tbh. It looked like you were meant to throw it that way. Your first 5 frames on your first game were really good strikes. But I’m sure you wanna feel relaxed throughout the whole swing.
Looks like your original swing tbh. But keep at it 🤙
Has 220 avg bowler tried sarge easter grip ??
In real life yes, for a TH-cam video not yet lol
Have you ever thrown a 220 on your channel? Game 2 was so close!
A little like Jim Furyk in golf.
Tough house lol.
EJ drop shoulder lower, it's not just swing, you need change your torso movement too, like EJ
Joey reyna sleepin
Fr 😂
Bowl like Mike Fagan.
More like “trying to choke like Ej Tackett”
Its not the figure 8. Dude launches the ball super hard. Power and accuracy needed for his swing and he does it perfectly. The worst thing is im always worry about his shoulders and elbow because of the violent swing
Or his bicep. I had a swing similar to his and then tore my bicep bad from it when I was 29. EJ is 31. Hope he maintains good exercise and stretches properly because he's now at that age when things can go wrong.
Dude stay with this swing. This is the path of the whirlwind swing except with way more consistency and minus the awkwardness. You're getting good balance at the line and not turning completely sideways. Forrest does something similar it's just not as pronounced of a loop.
That definitely wasn't terrible. Better than you have been bowling tbh. You already bowled very similar to EJs style so there wasn't too much of a change to make. I would say the only real difference I see between you two style wise is he tends to really whip his arm/wrist/hand at the point of release. Almost like a cobra striking. Whereas you have a slower and less whippy release.
Now try Tim Cagle 😂
I would rather learn how to bowl like Bill O’Neil
Do Mike Fagan next 😀
Hey everyone, 223.333 average bowler put up a new video!
Cop the merch on 223.333avg.com
@@220avg yessir!
It always seems like EJ whips it because of hard the ball travels down the lanes.
Can you bowl in your next video swing back then turn your wrist as you come back and bowl backhanded because that’s how I bowl
Your foot speed isn't even close to EJ's. That's a major key to how he gets so much power. The power comes from the legs not the arm.
STRAIGHT FACTS ABOUT RECORDING YOUR SELF . You think your doing one thing but your really doing another . Like you think your feet are stable but your actually slipping or placing your foot side ways or to angeled . ( Just and example )
Don't open up your palm and just keep it tucked under your forearm. opening your palm causes you to overturn and spin the ball instead of going through it. then next thing is to bend your elbow as it passes your torso and straighten out past your ankle and roll out and reach out. not snap and flick.
EJ weighs about 135 140 and generates more power than anybody shows you it’s all about technique not strength
u were just doing your normal release unfortunately
You should study Wayne weeb form
When they allowed 2 handed bowling they ruined bowling! Like my mens league you start off bowling lefty rhen you have too bowl lefty! 2 henders though can throw there first ball 2 handed and one handed at the 10 pin! Definitely not fair!
Alot of guys I know can throw left or righty! So why can't we throw lefty at 10 and righty at 7?? Same difference for the 2 handers
you should go back to 2 handed
love the content. hit me up if you ever want to do a challenge video :)
Mike, your release looks dangerously close to your left ankle so beware. I will tell you from personal experience if you cork yourself in the ankle with a bowling ball, you will pee yourself from the pain...!
This looks no different than your normal shot
