mark actually had a really good gag with the mixture of imperial & metric. It was just the delivery that failed him. bless him.
In no way would that be a good gag unless you were talking to someone with a hardon for mathematics.
Not really a very accessible brand of humour to any demographic that isn’t very niche or an engineer’s club 🤣 but you’re right if he’d just said ‘hangover’ after the first bit instead of stumbling it would’ve at least been coherent

@@paddym27 okay try telling this joke to a woman in a nightclub and see her reaction, if she reacts positively it’s because she’s either a peep show fan or has a weird sense of humour. Neither being bad
@@TheMrmatthewparker from personal experience i find attempting any type of joke in a nightclub is a struggle. but then i hated nightclubs largely for the fact that it was always impossible to talk to someone. As much as Jez would have perhaps preferred, this setting was not a nightclub, it was just the place for a witty line such as Mark delivered, let down only by it's execution! Anyway, i think we've analysed this enough & should simply be content in our shared enjoyment of this scene. All the best to you Greasymong!

the metric/imperial line wasn't even that bad if he had stopped there

Best episode of Peep Show this one. Every scene is pure comedy gold and the script is so clever and witty.
I think I agree. This is the episode I would show someone who has never seen it. You really don't even need that much context/backstory.
I love how Jez cuts off Mark to sit down next to the cuter of the two.
I’ve always hated how Mark always tries to go for hotties and cuties. Like people I know irl if he lowered his standards he’d be much happier
@@TheMrmatthewparker In the show, it's really more Mark's neuroses and social maladjustment which accounts for much of his unhappiness with his life in general. Although Jez is implied to be more of the ladies man, you nearly see more of Mark getting lucky or having stable relationships, and he's had his share of cute women. He just always finds a way to utterly sabotage himself.
The actor who played mark knocks it out the park here, I felt embarrassed from the moment he started talking 😂

I have a high resistance to cringiness in TV shows, there's not one scene in the whole of Peep Show that I can't watch because it's too embarrassing. Except this one. This is, even for me, is just too horrifying.

This is definitely my favourite episode of the entire run of peep show. So many clever and excellent comedy cringe scenes means i keep watching every so often.
