    Like others have said, this video is simply the best. I did have one question: which mirror is the “number 2 West Coast mirror? Thank you!

    • @hlender
      @hlender  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ok, go to the time stamp 2min 41sec in the video. At that point, I mention that the lower mirror, on the left side, is the number 1 mirror and that the upper mirror is the number 2 mirror. Hope fully that will explain it. Keep playing it back until you understand. Good luck.

    My understanding is this direction has greater blind spots than a drivers side alley dock.

      Hi Ashleigh. This video is a driver side alley dock. Did you mean to say passenger side alley dock? Thank you for the comment.

    In the state of Massachusetts and most other states require a driver to remove the key from ignition when doing a GOL 'Get out Look' , if the state licensing inspector does not give you a automatic fail consider yourself lucky. Always take your key with you when you leave the bus no matter what ! I would not risk your getting failed for this oversight.

      All States have their rules and regulations. I made this video in Missouri where their rules are different than in Massachusetts and some other states. Remember you should always get with your instructor to find the correct way to do a procedure. Your instructor should brief you on what you can and cannot do when taking the test. Here in Missouri, on this test, you can "get out and look" without taking the key with you or shutting the engine down. On the "Full CDL" test, yes you do have to take the key with you when exiting the bus. I should know because I took my yearly over the age of 71 skills test last Friday the 27th, Sep. My instructor made it a point to tell me what I could and couldn't do and verified it with the State Manual. And yes I did get out and check without removing the key or shutting the engine down. Bottom line, get with your Instructor, learn the procedure, then fine-tune it to what works best for you. With your instructor's help and knowledge, you'll do fine.

      @@hlender I'm 72 and taking my Missouri skills test in December. Thanks for your video. I used it last year, too. My skills test was the alley docking and I barely passed on the third try. Do you know if the full CDL test with the pre-trip will be given at any point in the future, now that we are taking this annually.

    • @hlender
      @hlender  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bluespringsmom In the State of Missouri I really doubt it. I can't say for other states. I can't see the logic for having us go through the full CDL test again. The skills test is what is the most important thing We've already passed it once. Thanks for asking.

      Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I do have more videos on backing. Just click here th-cam.com/channels/KROEORp3dccsGNhzoZFC6g.html.
      Or go to the top and click on "h Lender" and that too should take you to my channel where you'll find the other videos.
      Also In the future, I'll have some updates on the videos done with different and newer buses. 7 or 8 months down the road. Our Bus company is in the process of going "In House". Once things are settling down I'll start working on them.

    How many feet away is the yellow from the opening front cones of the alley?

    • @hlender
      @hlender  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late reply. The Yellow line you saw in the Video is 50 feet to the yellow cones. Btw the Yellow line is probably White at the Testing center. Also The "C" with the Orange background is my wife, Carol. My Name is Harry. Somehow the Name got changed when I was editing the account. I'm trying to change it back. Anyway I hope this helps. Good luck.

      Midwest Chris, Thank you for your reply. If you go to the 4 Min 6 Sec time code in the video and start the play back there. That will explain all you need to know as to when to stop. Play it as many times as needed to understand it. Good luck.

    Super great video. Does this same technique apply to backing from the opposite side into an Alley dock?

    • @hlender
      @hlender  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally on the test it's done from the drivers' side. However if you want try it out, you would have to go practice the maneuver and note to markers from that side, passenger side, to key on. It would take some time, but it could be done. The knowledge would be great to have just in case you have to do it. Hope that helps.

    I started driving in April. I’m horrible with backing. I drive in WV. I am having difficulty knowing when to back and knowing I’ve come to the end of bus.

    • @hlender

      If you're referring to when your rear bumper starts to enter the 3 ft box, review the video when I say how to determine when that moment occurs, watching the left crossover mirror when the right cone comes into view, you immediately stop, then get out and go to the back and check. You'll see that the bumper is just beginning to enter the 3 ft box. Get back in the bus and come back 1 ft. Now go review the video and you'll see what I mean. Hope this helps.

    • @hlender
      @hlender  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was reviewing my reply to you and realized I should have said "watching the right crossover mirror when the left cone comes into view". Sorry about that.
