in this video I did not use silicone for the claws it was alginate dental material that is a one time use but I would recommend rebound 25 silicone it's durable and last a long time as a mold you can get it at amazon.com or smoothon.com

yes I would or if I want a real super gloss I would use triple thick gloss glaze from Michael's

You should get a cheap lazy susan to help show off your work at the end. It will rotate smoother and you won't have to touch the model to turn it.
