I feel so conflicted buying Mythic/Cosmic Legions for the exact reasons you listed. They look great, but they're a little to expensive for the articulation. Working with the wings on the vampire line damn near gave me an aneurysm, not to mention the “elbow” joints that want to fall right out with the slightest bit of articulation of the figure. I ALWAYS glue the wings in the peg holes and then glue the lower part to the back of the figures. The first time I ever stuck a wing peg into the hole, the plastic around the hole crumbled into dust. I've been a fan of 4H since I started collecting the 4 inch Power Lords back in the day but it's not remotely controversial to suggest there are various issues. I had to reconstruct a hand that popped right off the peg when I opened my first Cosmic figure. After waiting so long after the Kickstarter to get them, this was a jarring way to get started. I spent most of my life in the music scene surrounded by disgusting selfish people and their blind supporters and when I first started doing customs in 2017 I thought the action figure community was so welcoming and supportive, but over the years it's become clear that as any large group of people with the same interests expands, there will always be a super toxic element. After Legionscon 2023, my first ever toy convention, I was left feeling very, very isolated despite having just been surrounded by people who love action figures as much as I do.
Always appreciate hearing your honest opinion. Its refreshing. I have never designed or created a figure in my 20+ years of collecting. Guess I can't have an opinion on action figures 😂
Well said, Ninja! Sad to see some people are closed-minded to objective observations on improvable aspects of products we spend money on. Figures cost money and should constantly be improved upon. Each of us has the right to want stuff we give our money for to keep getting better over time. Recently got my first ever ML figure, a female character, and noticed right away what you said about head proportion, just as an example. Accessories, paint applications, the soft-good cloak and overall looks are really nice though! I’m leaving it there. I appreciate your honesty and objectiveness, as that is what I mostly want from a review. For aesthetics, each of us, I think, can decide with our own eyes.
Honest question, if people with platforms don't call out companies and how they can improve, who gives them feedback? I feel many domestic companies don't listen to their average customer or if they do it takes forever to incorporate any feedback.
There was a post on the Cabal a couple years ago on the subject of articulation. I casually mentioned that I like toe articulation and got shut down quickly. It’s usually a chill place in that FB group but I learned quickly there’s a few subjects that rock the boat quickly with them.
I a comment once in the Cabal about exclusives (I don't care for the idea of exclusives)... you'd think I insulted their kids or parents. Worse, the admins deleted the whole thread instead of dealing with the toxic individuals. I rarely ever comment in any of the groups I'm in anymore because so many people get so butt hurt so easily now a days. I appreciate Ninja for his honesty and integrity.

I had this issue a while back when I talked about Mcfarlane Warhammer figures and how I liked them more than joy toys. so many people on my Instagram were just pissed at me for liking one brand better than another. I never even said anything bad I just didn't care for the size of the Joy toy as I liked the McFarlane stuff for fit better with my G.I.JOE classified stuff.
I'm with Ninja on this. I only have a few Mythic Legions / Cosmic Legions figures, and the main reason why I don't collect more is because of the articulation. I'm not asking for the world I'm just asking for double jointed elbows and knees.

Good job ninja! I have only bought four mythic Legion figures. The valet night was one of them and in my video. I explained how all the figures need to be this good and it is way long overdue. That is why a lot of hard-core toy collectors do not pick up this line. We need articulation, they are way behind for the company that they have become. Every mythic legions figure I've gotten has had something break even after heating up. I had a staff break just putting it in a figures hand. I love the ip and the sculpts but they still feel like kickstarter quality figures to me

Based on the comments the last video got, alot of people seem to forget that the whole reason the bicep swivel exists is to retain both aesthetic and range of movement in the arms when you utilize double jointed elbows.

This is actually funny. You had stated your complaints and why you felt the way you did. You never told anyone to stop buying the figures, you just stated the FACT that the figures don't have the best articulation. I sensed no hate in what you were saying and i think it's insane that people are losing their minds over a statement that isn't even crazy. You had clearly said that you enjoyed the figures and you buy them, but just because your a fan of something doesn't mean you can't critique the product or company. I collect a LOT of Hasbro products but i believe they can do a lot better at times and i state that. You can enjoy things but want them to be better.
Some people just want to be adored and when they aren't, they get overly defensive. The tell...is when theie reaction is far larger than the problem. You're right, the articulation is sub-par. that is why I don't buy them. I don't collect statues. I want action. I got a few old horror NECA figures, but once I started getting Marvel Legends, GIJOE and Valaverse, with the double joints, I knew I couldnt go backwards.

There can always be improvements in every line. Doesn’t mean we love them any less. People need to chill, buy what you love for the reason you love it. I wouldn’t give any more of your time or attention to them.
Mythic legends is a product of its time. The 4 horsemen are known for their sculpts and they prioritize that. and the compamy has roots with mattel so its no surprise the articulation is basic. but its not 5 poa either bad. Its just outdated now. Especially for the price.

I've never bought one, bu I've looked at them in store. I like the general idea but they all look awkward and blocky to me, and yeah, enormous heads are a deal breaker for me.
Honestly, and I'm a fan of their stuff who doesn't really care about adding more of the articulation Ninja is talking about, but the horses could be better. They sculpted these big chests on them, which means they can't lift their legs up as high as they should be able to. And they could have better range of motion for their knees. But don't get me wrong, I still love the horses.
@@Lurklen there isn't much they could do for the legs. Even asian companies like Fishtoys that are making a horse with torso swivel, will still have limited articulation in the legs.
@@Tyler_Lalonde- Eh, the knees of the foreleg could have curled in a little deeper if they trimmed back the hair on the back of it just a touch. You wouldn't really need more than that. And I agree about a mid section swivel, though I would go ball joint so the horse can do side to side, and at that scale it can be really thick so it wont compromise structure (so figs can sit on it without sag). But I mean if we're having our druthers I'd love a second joint midway down the neck too. If you had both the horse could look behind him, like real horses can. (And think of the poses for things like jumps, or a wounded horse in battle!) But don't get me wrong, still better than the horses I could find previous. There does have to be some compromise between structure and articulation when it comes to mounts. But Ninja ain't wrong when he says they could be doing better.
i have yet to find "perfect toy line" that hits all of the following. price vs value ratio, articulation, availability, sculpting, modular customization and several other categories i cant think of at this moment. i have mythic legions, marvel legends, dc collectibles, valaverse, figma, and 7 other toy companies at my desk alone. not one of these companies checks all the boxes listed. valaverse comes close they nail all but one to this point. however bobby is always getting better. i think mcfarlane sculpts well but i want action figures and not posable statues. at the end of the day buy what you love as ninja says and enjoy the hobby. i agree that mythic legions needs better articulation but i still love the line. EVERY TOY LINE HAS FLAWS. sorry for the caps but i needed to get point across. for most of em its "price vs value" in my opinion. hasbro treats all 3 main lines different and i for the life of me cannot figure out . starwars and legends get little to no accessories. mean while the joes come with a kitchen sink and a plumber to install it. pick your line and pick your poison either way no line is perfect.

My argument was never about "enough" articulation I could take great photos as well many of us can. I never said enough to look good standing stoic with great lighting. I said they have less articulation than the majority of other lines available, which is true, and that truth bothered him that much.

I subscribed to you because you have kept it real with your opinions about the figures coming out, if not your love for figures in general. You give a no bullshit assessment on products that are both fair and understanding from a neutral point of view.
There are some super fans of the line that defend legions no matter what, but there are also quite a few people who have to defend the line due to making money from it. Its definitely a cult mentality, but that happens with other lines too unfortunately.
Let me start by saying, I totally respect the way you feel about legions and to an extent, I even agree. However, I think the main reason a lot of people are upset with that video is not solely based on your opinions but the fact that the entire video is based around it while also being framed as a review of that new figura obscura. I belive if you didn't frame it as a criticism and just a review you wouldn't have gotten the same hate comments you got. I think you said the right thing, but the delivery was flawed. But that's just me! Like I said, you ain't wrong. Articulation could be better. But the paint and sculpt makes me look the other way.

To me the lack of articulation dont bother me too much, knights and charecters in clunky armor don't really need thay much dynamic articulation. I think the valient knight is good enough. I think mythic legions has bigger problems they need to address and i been pretty vocal about it for years. The absolutely horrendous turn around/ time it takes to get figures in hand which is close to 2 years is asinine. Also the QC issues and customer service which can take them several months to resolve issues, the bad shipping prices as well. I been so upset about those issues that it overshadows the lack of articulation. They keep getting bigger yet they do very little to improve. I am not saying more articulation would be a bad thing, but just think they need to improve the other stuff and get their ducks in a row before they consider it.

I understand, in my usual videos I try to watch language much more this was not a usual video it was a rant for adults , and my content is always geared towards adults to be honest I'm not interested in appealing underage viewers. But I do know people have kids so on average I do try and keep the tone mild.
Mythic Legends are sculpt before articulation. With the Fantasy type lives I don't mind limited articulation I'd rather has the sculpt first. I think that's the 4H philosophy with this line.
I agree that's there thing I was just saying they lack on articulation which they do , and if they improve articulation by just a little bit it would do wonders for the line.

Recently got my first ever ML figure, a female character, and noticed right away what you said about head proportion, just as an example. Accessories, paint applications, the soft-good cloak and overall looks are really nice though! I’m leaving it there.
I appreciate your honesty and objectiveness, as that is what I mostly want from a review. For aesthetics, each of us, I think, can decide with our own eyes.

There was a post on the Cabal a couple years ago on the subject of articulation. I casually mentioned that I like toe articulation and got shut down quickly. It’s usually a chill place in that FB group but I learned quickly there’s a few subjects that rock the boat quickly with them.

I had this issue a while back when I talked about Mcfarlane Warhammer figures and how I liked them more than joy toys. so many people on my Instagram were just pissed at me for liking one brand better than another. I never even said anything bad I just didn't care for the size of the Joy toy as I liked the McFarlane stuff for fit better with my G.I.JOE classified stuff.
I'm with Ninja on this. I only have a few Mythic Legions / Cosmic Legions figures, and the main reason why I don't collect more is because of the articulation. I'm not asking for the world I'm just asking for double jointed elbows and knees.

Good job ninja! I have only bought four mythic Legion figures. The valet night was one of them and in my video. I explained how all the figures need to be this good and it is way long overdue. That is why a lot of hard-core toy collectors do not pick up this line. We need articulation, they are way behind for the company that they have become. Every mythic legions figure I've gotten has had something break even after heating up. I had a staff break just putting it in a figures hand. I love the ip and the sculpts but they still feel like kickstarter quality figures to me
That sucks I've run into my own QC issues with the line but they was a minority compared to the amount I purchased. Hopefully they step it up.

Based on the comments the last video got, alot of people seem to forget that the whole reason the bicep swivel exists is to retain both aesthetic and range of movement in the arms when you utilize double jointed elbows.

You're right, the articulation is sub-par. that is why I don't buy them. I don't collect statues. I want action. I got a few old horror NECA figures, but once I started getting Marvel Legends, GIJOE and Valaverse, with the double joints, I knew I couldnt go backwards.

There can always be improvements in every line. Doesn’t mean we love them any less. People need to chill, buy what you love for the reason you love it. I wouldn’t give any more of your time or attention to them.
Mythic legends is a product of its time. The 4 horsemen are known for their sculpts and they prioritize that. and the compamy has roots with mattel so its no surprise the articulation is basic. but its not 5 poa either bad. Its just outdated now. Especially for the price.

I've never bought one, bu I've looked at them in store. I like the general idea but they all look awkward and blocky to me, and yeah, enormous heads are a deal breaker for me.
ML horses are the only things I like.
Honestly, and I'm a fan of their stuff who doesn't really care about adding more of the articulation Ninja is talking about, but the horses could be better. They sculpted these big chests on them, which means they can't lift their legs up as high as they should be able to. And they could have better range of motion for their knees. But don't get me wrong, I still love the horses.

@@Lurklen there isn't much they could do for the legs. Even asian companies like Fishtoys that are making a horse with torso swivel, will still have limited articulation in the legs.
@@Tyler_Lalonde- Eh, the knees of the foreleg could have curled in a little deeper if they trimmed back the hair on the back of it just a touch. You wouldn't really need more than that. And I agree about a mid section swivel, though I would go ball joint so the horse can do side to side, and at that scale it can be really thick so it wont compromise structure (so figs can sit on it without sag). But I mean if we're having our druthers I'd love a second joint midway down the neck too. If you had both the horse could look behind him, like real horses can. (And think of the poses for things like jumps, or a wounded horse in battle!)
But don't get me wrong, still better than the horses I could find previous. There does have to be some compromise between structure and articulation when it comes to mounts. But Ninja ain't wrong when he says they could be doing better.
i have yet to find "perfect toy line" that hits all of the following. price vs value ratio, articulation, availability, sculpting, modular customization and several other categories i cant think of at this moment. i have mythic legions, marvel legends, dc collectibles, valaverse, figma, and 7 other toy companies at my desk alone. not one of these companies checks all the boxes listed. valaverse comes close they nail all but one to this point. however bobby is always getting better. i think mcfarlane sculpts well but i want action figures and not posable statues. at the end of the day buy what you love as ninja says and enjoy the hobby. i agree that mythic legions needs better articulation but i still love the line. EVERY TOY LINE HAS FLAWS. sorry for the caps but i needed to get point across. for most of em its "price vs value" in my opinion. hasbro treats all 3 main lines different and i for the life of me cannot figure out . starwars and legends get little to no accessories. mean while the joes come with a kitchen sink and a plumber to install it. pick your line and pick your poison either way no line is perfect.

My argument was never about "enough" articulation I could take great photos as well many of us can. I never said enough to look good standing stoic with great lighting. I said they have less articulation than the majority of other lines available, which is true, and that truth bothered him that much.

There are some super fans of the line that defend legions no matter what, but there are also quite a few people who have to defend the line due to making money from it. Its definitely a cult mentality, but that happens with other lines too unfortunately.

Let me start by saying, I totally respect the way you feel about legions and to an extent, I even agree. However, I think the main reason a lot of people are upset with that video is not solely based on your opinions but the fact that the entire video is based around it while also being framed as a review of that new figura obscura. I belive if you didn't frame it as a criticism and just a review you wouldn't have gotten the same hate comments you got. I think you said the right thing, but the delivery was flawed. But that's just me! Like I said, you ain't wrong. Articulation could be better. But the paint and sculpt makes me look the other way.

To me the lack of articulation dont bother me too much, knights and charecters in clunky armor don't really need thay much dynamic articulation. I think the valient knight is good enough. I think mythic legions has bigger problems they need to address and i been pretty vocal about it for years. The absolutely horrendous turn around/ time it takes to get figures in hand which is close to 2 years is asinine. Also the QC issues and customer service which can take them several months to resolve issues, the bad shipping prices as well. I been so upset about those issues that it overshadows the lack of articulation. They keep getting bigger yet they do very little to improve. I am not saying more articulation would be a bad thing, but just think they need to improve the other stuff and get their ducks in a row before they consider it.

I understand, in my usual videos I try to watch language much more this was not a usual video it was a rant for adults , and my content is always geared towards adults to be honest I'm not interested in appealing underage viewers. But I do know people have kids so on average I do try and keep the tone mild.
Mythic Legends are sculpt before articulation. With the Fantasy type lives I don't mind limited articulation I'd rather has the sculpt first. I think that's the 4H philosophy with this line.
