Chuck Wagons for Warriors - Cast Iron Cooking for Veterans

Joe visits this annual event held in Lebanon, Missouri where original, restored and replicated chuckwagons gather from around the country to raise money in support of veterans. The day is spent cooking on open fires in cast iron cookware.
Joe interviews one veteran Steve Hull, one of the originators of the event. He tells us the history of the event which is the largest gathering of authentic chuckwagons in the United States. It started with only 5 wagons and has grown to host over 30.
Johnny Kee shows us his restored 1910 John Deere chuckwagon. He did all the restoration himself using a 1910 John Deer catalog as a guide. He shows us all around the wagon pointing out the features and work he has done including all the blacksmith work.
Rodney Ashworth talks about participating in the and other events like it. He goes to 4-6 events each year.
Buster McSparran shows us his International Harvester chuckwagon from the early 1900s. We also see him cooking tomato cobbler in a couple of dutch ovens.
Matthew Hamon of the Nanticoke Nation of Indian River, Delaware talks about his ancestry and the history of these peoples. There is some footage of the ceremony/dance the preform at the event. www.nanticokeindians.org/
