So what happened with Thomas Wood was sales. The great thing about TWR is that families could hand them down from child to child. These toys were built to last. So, you got your cousins old Thomas stuff, and then handed it down to your little brother, and so on. This also went hand in hand with the rise of Craigslist/Kijiji/Marketplace. People didn't have to set up garage sales; they could just sell old pieces to new parents online. This was great for kids and parents, but bad for the manufacturer. Sales were down, dramatically. Mattel was also really worried that TTTE would be pushed out of the market by Paw Patrol, and they wanted to do something different. So, they did what they do best; they panicked. New track design, and new train design; they thought they could get sales back. It obviously flopped massively, and they did some research into the brand and came up with the newer style trains, but ultimately what happened is their own used market coupled with the rise of Paw Patrol did the brand in. Great video.
The fact that mattel actually thought that selling unpainted pieces of wood in 2018 would work really makes me wish that they get bought out/go bankrupt
The reason why Mattel had their own track design is cuz they wanted to make parents need to buy only Thomas items to expand their Thomas starter set instead of the money going to other companies.
When it comes to this line the best way to describe it is the way people describe season 12 it feels like a complete fever dream. Truth be told there were a couple good models I think the redesign and repaint of Harvey looks beautiful. And I generally wish they would have released Flying Scotsman because I generally see some custom opportunities with that. But other than those two models alone the entire line is basically crap the repaint did lift it but at that point Mattel had already done damage control. I'm just glad that we have newer and better models but it's kind of worrying knowing that there's been little to no update on the current line as it is. But hey anything is better than this. A great video man and keep up the good work!
So upon further research, I can safely say there are no AEG wooden railway, nor AEG minis. However some people have been making edits of the 2022 wooden railway model mixing them with the push along AEG models, and I’m assuming that some people actually believed it, get tricked into thinking there is, but just so you know, there hasn’t been any leaks nor prove that any AEG wooden railway nor AEG minis existing, that’s all I have to say and I hope you have a great day. 👍
Late 2017 in particular was when Mattel started making decisions that were more likely to send Thomas to the scrapyard. In addition to discontinuing the long-running and beloved Thomas Wooden Railway line and replacing it with the inferior Thomas Wood line, they also pulled Thomas' TV show from PBS, pulled Edward and Henry from the Steam Team in favor of Nia and Rebecca, and made DVD releases more scarce. Because of Mattel's horrid mistreatment of Thomas, I cut ties with them in 2023 and those ties are going to remain cut until further notice. I also personally feel that Thomas' quality can only improve if another company acquires the rights to his franchise.
Part of me is waiting for Mattel to announce that Thomas Wood was a New Coke Gambit: rather than admitting they made a (series of) bad call(s) with a new product that replaced an old one, they claim it was all intentional with the intent to re-release the old product when people dislike the new one.
Also if I were the head of the TW line I would just keep the 2017 redesigns, switch to heat-transfer decals, and switch to birch wood (as that is the wood TW was made with)

Ok but let’s be grateful that AEG hasn’t infected wooden railway
Sadly it has now
@ how tf has it-
There is no AEG wooden railway and minis..

@@aracelisadames2408im surprised minis wasnt the first one hit by the all engines go outbreak considering how cheap it is
@FrenzyStudiosYT there is the wooden carry case from all engines go at drayton manor Thomas land
You know it's bad when the knock offs are still using the old TWR style

UNDERRATED
you could say there was confustion and delay with thomas wood
My big gripe was the turn radius. 90* Turns are super important to toy trains
What went wrong?
yes
You know what's funny also?
Wood has wayyy more plastic than TWR 2017 did
Wood should have co-existed with TWR as a separate line really
Also if I were the head of the TW line I would just keep the 2017 redesigns, switch to heat-transfer decals, and switch to birch wood (as that is the wood TW was made with)
Who on earth thought Thomas Wood was a good idea?
I like your name!
2:50 is that who i think it is
I provided footage to this since when?
Now the 2022 TWR is discontinued
No, it’s not
GROOS🤮
