I'll be honest and say the past few weeks have been some of the most difficult of my life. The heartbreak of knowing that this day was coming or someone else on the team was going to have to go through what I did before London has been almost impossible for me. I was selected as the travelling reserve but my owners, John and Chloe Perry and Alison Swinburn, have been clear to everyone involved that they didn't want Brookfield Inocent to travel to Tokyo in that position as it wasn’t in his best interests.🇯🇵
The Olympics have been a lifelong dream for me so to miss out is very difficult. However, we as riders are absolutely nothing without the owners who support us and I completely understand their decision. I am hugely grateful to John, Chloe and Alison for all their support over the past few years and I know that this decision has been as hard on them as it has on me. Ultimately they are putting their horse’s best interests first and I, and everyone else, can only respect them for that. We have shared some great days together and I hope there will be many more memorable occasions to come but Tokyo will not be one of them.
I also want to wish Tom, Laura, Oliver and Ros the very best of luck in Tokyo. It's an outstanding team and I hope they can bring home the medals they deserve. Good luck guys!🥇💪🇬🇧
I now have to pick myself up and keep working hard and maybe one day my own Olympic dream will come true.🤞

With the stresses of competing during a pandemic, the stresses of traveling with no real prospect of competing, I agree with your choice. Ros Canter is epic. Onwards and upwards to the European Championships. You have confirmed the reasons why I think you are great.

Piggy--you are an inspiration on so many levels. True horsemanship, sportsmanship and a sterling example of how far hard work and dedication can take one. "Keep on keepin on" as we say here in New Jersey!
Once upon a time, I qualified for the Olympic Trials in my sport. It was the last one that I really had a chance....and.....we simply couldn't find the money to send me to compete. It was a bitter pill to swallow at the time. But I look back now, and see how much I won and grew as a person. I ride now, and no longer speedskate. Thanks for sharing such a personal journey with us. These moments are every bit a part of the Olympic spirit and journey as those who do get to go. I too find you to be an inspiring rider, trainer and person. Thanks again for sharing these vlogs!!!!
I’m so so sorry Piggy. I can’t imagine the disappointment especially following London. You are such an inspiration, both as an athlete and as a person. here’s to the next time! You day WILL come !
We will still behind you in your journey Piggy. And I we love how real you keep each journey. From an Olympic hopeful to a retrained race horse, it gives us motivation and hope in our own journey.
This is so heartbreaking to watch but it just shows what an amazing horsewoman you are Piggy, as well as your owners, to make such a tough sporting decision. But it just opens the door to the Europeans where hopefully all owners are able to attended by then!

Really gutted for you in this and I can tell how much it means to you but I absolutely loved hearing about your ex racehorse at the end, he’s looking super smart. As a new owner of an ottb with the hopes to event this gives me lots of confidence and hope for our future✨
I watched every second of this video (and many, many others) and I am inspired by your courage, your thoughts, your honesty about emotions, your balance to what we do compared to what non-horse people experience in life, and you are a very special, special horsewoman. All class, Piggy. All class.

I'm gutted for you, Piggy but totally understandable saving your horses for another competition. You know your horses and your owners so it seems to be a sensible choice. There's always the next Olympic games... Good luck for the rest of the season.
This is so understandable and so undeniably for the sake of the horse as well. It is so much to put the horse through, for them to not even compete isn't in his best interests!

Oh Piggy I really feel for you sweetheart. Whilst it is sad and disappointing, I really understand their decision and like you said, at least you and your owners can concentrate on the European Championships now.
I am a firm believer in things happening for a reason hun, so maybe this really is the way it should be, that you are all safe and sound at home this year and I hope you have a fantastic time with Max on his birthday hun.
So keep smiling, drink that gin and kick on to fight another day girl, you WILL get there next time!!

So sorry about that, can't imagine what it must be like. Look forward to cheering you on at the European Championships. If it isn't now it will come, you work so hard and are very talented. You rode really well at Barbury (and it was great to be able to cheer you and the other riders on now we can start attending events as spectators to support you all); no one would have known all this was going on which shows how there you are for your horses and your team. Wishing you all the luck.
You might not feel good enough but you are. But look at the conversation you had with your son, that shows you are good enough as a mother, rider and everything else 💗💗💗

❤ being a non professional rider I cannot really relate to your heartbreak regarding the Olympics, but I can relate to the frustration of feeling like you've failed your horse, in whatever way, be it a poor schooling session or far from a clear round. I also have a four year old son who's seen me fall apart that way, he always says to me "you'll ride tomorrow, and you'll ride good tomorrow, love you mommy". That moment they seem to be so very wise, because it's true, there's always another ride, another show, another chance to shine! congratulations piggy on everything you have accomplished in life, the last two years of frustrating cancellations, and this past season with your wonderful horses.

Love these Diary entries you share with us all, sharing your highs and lows of the sport, the gut wrenching decision to not take your spot solely based on what's the best for that horse, such an unselfish decision for your owners and yourself to make! Thanks for your honesty!! It's amazing to me that although u go up the levels eventing And horses are just as hard just different levels and competitions!! I have a lil boy too and he always brings me back to what's important!!

Love your vlogs. Team GB is great, but it would have been fantastic with you on board! I’m sorry you were disappointed - being fourth is so tough. But you give so much to your audience, just through the way you talk so enthusiastically about horses: how you work with them, how you train them, and how much you love and enjoy them. It’s wonderful and really appreciated.
Gutted for you Piggy, tough decision to have to make whether to go or not. Rotten that the 4 person team format is gone. I hope they change it back to what it used to be!
