Mercedes w123 estate; draining the fuel tank

The stale fuel in the donor car smelt bad. So I drained the tank, a lot simpler than on a sedan. This is how I did it. I did actually take out the plug and strainer which was clean. Be careful, as soon as you remove the plug, it will fall straight out (I found straight into a 5L bucket of petrol!). Be sure to use up or siphon out most of the fuel or it goes everywhere. In my case the fuel sender was broken and I thought the tank was empty almost, I was disappointed to find there was still 15L of fuel!
