My 2TB USB was showing 120MB of available space with nothing on it. I actually had found these exact instructions written out on google but didn't feel confident in knowing which drive was the USB so I had asked my partner for help to delete the extra partition. He fiddled around with it for 2 hours doing everything other than the instructions I had found, before telling me I should just give up and toss it because he had deleted the extra partition but the wrong drive amount was showing 😭 I knew there had to be another way! Turns out the way I was originally going was actually the correct one and I should've just trusted myself! Thank you SO MUCH for this; such a lifesaver!

YES FINALLY THANK YOU SO MUCH, I recently flashed a iso of archlinux onto my usb drive but I never seemed to be able to install it due to computer issues and stuff like that so when i tried to use it obviously the usb didnt work because a iso was flashed onto it, I didnt know how to clean my usb without damaging anything and when I tried to open it it came up with errors all over the place, thank God this worked! 100% better than other tutorials out there.

Bless you! This little tip also worked for me to clean an old laptop HD that had Cloudready Chrome OS installed with a dozen or more partitions on it. Used the command line from the bootable Windows media in the repair section of installation. It worked and let Windows Media continue with the install. Thank you sir!

@Deejay Bishop Because your computer measures storage space in GiB, not GB. 128 GB is 128 billion bytes. When your computer says “114gb”, it means 114 units each equal to 1,024 megabytes, each megabyte equal to 1,024 kilbobytes, and each kilobyte equal to 1,024 bytes.

Yup I had this issue as well, my windows 10 installation got was installed properly so I had to use a thumb drive to install my windows but I had to format it but I had totally no idea where the other memory space on my flash drive had gone. This video helped a bunch!

I followed the tutorial and while yes it did reformat my flash drive it did leave it invisible afterwards. Meaning my PC could not find it after wards. So not necessarily the best way to reformat something.

I get the error "diskpart has encontered an errer" A device which does not exist was specified. See the system event log for more information." My computer wont recognize it but yet the drive shows up from time to time even with the error from windows showing up. So i guess this is an intermittent problem. I tried reformatting my desk with no luck either. i use this usb for in the car it has music off it and can you normally play using voice commands. Can anyone help with getting this error fixed
