For anyone like me who has a different tablet and couldn't get the same "tapered ends" effect that Chiworld1234 gets with the Illustrator brush, below is a great video which gives you a similar effect using an Art Brush that you create yourself. To get the same sensitivity to pressure as the Caligraphic brush Chilworld uses, you can edit the "Width" setting of the art brush to be "Pressure" and put the 1st slider to 1%, and the 2nd slider to 150%. That got me strokes identical to what you see in his drawings, with nice, tapered edges. Make sure you put your "Colorization" setting on your new Art Brush to "Tints" so you can color your lines any way you want, and save the brush. th-cam.com/video/7JZiVulG6_k/w-d-xo.html&index=32
Hey i was wondering how do u get sharp points from the start to end of the line you draw. When im using the brush it starts of with a point and ends in a round edge. Hope that makes sense
i think what everyone is trying to figure out is how to get the strokes to taper off at the end, i thought you might have been using an angle or tilt on your brush but thats not the case.
Thank you! Your videos are as artful as your graphics. I love the addition of music and being able to see you and the graphics at the same time. Well done!
My Brother most Respect. You are an incredible artist and very talented. The time, creativity, patience, and dedication you put into what you do is what i appreciate, and value because, that is what makes art, Art! please keep up the great work. I'm sure that the same way in which you inspire me, you also inspire many other people to pursue the things they love and enjoy the most. Hopefully very soon I will be able to upload some of my work as well , and maybe I can gain some constructive criticism that will push me towards becoming a better artist. Once again Thank you, Great work, and keep-em coming!
For anyone who wants to get sharp point or tapered ends effect , adjust your pen setting to firmer. I use Wacom Intuos Pro Small, and then I adjust the "tip feel" setting to one notch firmer. Hope it helps.
The tablet you said to get? That's the one I got and I still use. My dogs kinda chewed my pen a little bit, but it's all good. It still works and the chew marks give it character. It's a great tablet.
Soooo, are you doing your color fills on a separate layer, simply drawing like you naturally draw? I noticed you used the pathfinder panel for something, can any details be shared on that procedure?
Much Love bruh! I appreciate the tips. I gotta get the screen tablet. right now I just have a small one and its pretty difficult to get accurate line work. The music is dope too!
I've used a Wacom Intuos pro med, and I can't get nearly the size variance with pressure and thin ends of your lines when I try to set up a custom calligraphy brush like you show. I turn the Variation to the highest setting and... its still much more subtle than yours.
I did! I downloaded an updated driver and then didn't realize that I needed to restart my computer (im on a mac). www.wacom.com/en/support/product-support/drivers
I'd play around with the settings in System Preferences, the Wacom Desktop Center, and Illustrator. To quote someone below, "open your system prefs > Ink > settings > uncheck allow me to ink in any application. It worked for me."
love your work. in previous comments my lines also are not like yours idk if its me or my wacom i have been fooling around with my pen sensitivity. trying to get it.
I love your work and I've learn so much from your videos (thank you!) but I notice that the video is over 3 years old, so can I ask are you still only using this brush?
Yo great video man. 1 suggestion, you could post the Amazon links in the description so people can go buy the pens or tablets that you suggest. Get you some affiliate income! Great info I'll be looking to get one of those Wacoms soon
I have a 2018 hp spectre x360 15 with tablet/touch screen capabilities. My Adobe programs are up-to-date and I followed your instructions. BUT the pressure setting still isn't working for me :(. I'm using a pen and haven't found any other settings that would help this issue. I hear people talking about downloading a "pressure driver" but no other details about it. I'm assuming I don't need to downlaod anyting else and it's just in my settings, but at this point im lost... Anyone know how to resolve my issue?
With your ugee pen display, can the display size/resolution be bigger than the laptop resolution, and still work properly? For example, if I have a 13in laptop can I get the 19in or 21in display?
+Various Tech, see my comment below this (when sorting by Newest first). I give a step-by-step instruction on how to get the same effect using a different method. Hope that can help some folks, since I struggled with it a lot too.
Having the same issue with the sharpness of the brush edges as I paint. I've tried everything but can't seem to get the same effect? Can you help out bro? Thanks!
+Alexis Pastrana, I give a step-by-step instruction (above your comment when sorted by Newest first) on how to get the identical effect using a slightly different method. Hope that helps.
Open up your System settings for your tablet (outside of Illustrator) and make sure your "Pen" Settings are set to Firm. There's a slider you can adjust. Once I did that, my lines got better. I was using the default Illustrator settings and my brush wouldn't taper either. Now it's better.
Max i came to realize its all a technique bra adjust your sensitivity, then when you do your lines... press softly first, then press harder then end softly again and it should work. just keep on practicing!
Your drawings are amazing dude. And its not the brush, its the pen. Your pen probably has a better sensitivity for the pressure. That's why I can't draw like you
@CHIWORLD1234 hey mister, can i humbly beg for a video tutorial for the brush you used in photoshop, would really appreciate it, your arts are so cool, subscribed already
"I recently broke my pen…”. LOL. You often ask for ideas for future videos. I’d like to see a video on tips and tricks for insuring our drawings are “closed".
I'm using a Microsoft Surface book and i've always been able to use pressure sensitivity but when I went to draw in Illustrator the pressure option doesn't show up anymore. It's making me go insane lol, i've reloaded the software several times. Any idea?
I think it's the illustrator problem. I couldnt get the same thing after following his steps. Just when you got that mood to start drawing this kind of thing showed up. Illustrator, why you such a bitch?!
Im super shit at drawing but half descent at illustrator, if i get the tablet would the fact that i can not draw at all affect how well i am able to use the tablet?
yo man! ive tried it but i always get the line with the same thickness. i dont get the line with the edgy tip. ive followed your instruction buttttttt.... it wont work
Is this the only brush I will ever need in my entire existence? This was so helpful, now I know the only brush I will ever need.
Thanks, Bill

Your drawings are amazing dude. And its not the brush, its the pen. Your pen probably has a better sensitivity for the pressure. That's why I can't draw like you
stay practicing bro the more you practice the better you will be
His pen pressure is 2048 level, the same as a budget $100 Wacom Intuos. You don't need an expensive tablet.
