Finally a good restoration on a REAL old gun. No fake corrosion, mud or accelerated made process just to have the piece for the job. And finally a real Beretta, the most iconic italian handgun. Thank you by an old italian.
It's amazing how many fake "restoration" video creators are unaware that plastic and wood don't rust, and will just spray an entire gun or knife down with artificial corrosion.
My son and I watched "Bad Taste", an 80's B movie horror film tonight (an early Peter Jackson film) that had a few of those. It's been so long since I'd seen one that I forgot how cool they are. Now I have to go looking for one.
I remember watching a "restoration video" of an AK74 that had been abandoned for decades in the dirt and mud, yet had a loaded Magpul PMAG. Must have been one of Magpuls earlier prototypes
@@cigoLxeLbut some rust on plastic is to be expected especially flood or river guns because of rust bleeding like on vehicles you will see rust lines from metal to plastic or rubber
yea i keep my beretta 92 just to look at it. i was so hyped to be old enough to buy one from watching it in movies. a natural star. plus i worked with a guy that would always talk about his beretta 92 lol.
I am not into guns but that was therapeutic. I was wondering about the test firing then when I saw the safety precautions I realised these guys are not amateurs.
What an awesome, genuine restoration. No fake rust, etc., and great point about removing every speck of rust, including in screwholes. I like how the orange bluing turned out, and I bet that little pistol gave a sigh of relief as the last of the rust was finally bead-blasted off.
Despite the complexity of the task and the assembly of the spare parts, I find it wonderful what human beings can do with both hands. It is the absolute tool to do anything in this life.
What a beautiful pistol! That natural fade/asymmetric burnt-bronze look on the slide, paired with the trim of the grips left in the white is just pure chef's kiss. Looks like a $1000+ modern custom job.
Great job on the restoration. I purchased one of these last year, in very good condition, and the proof marks indicate it was for the Italian Air Force. No stampings on the slide indicates it was built late July to early September of 1943 after the Allies liberated Italy. Great pieces of history.
Also, this gun was very popular in many British movies and TV shows in the 1960's. Watch The Saint with Roger Moore and you will see this gun appear in many of the episodes. Who new it was a TV and movie star? 😀
I used to have a Beretta 92FS before it got stolen, it was my first and favorite semi-automatic pistol and I miss it so much. I loved how easy it was to disassemble compared to a Glock and after watching this video, I am blown away how disassembling Beretta Model 1934 from the 1940's appears to be no different than when I had to disassemble the 92FS to clean it. I find it funny with the acronym and thinking yep, this pistol suits me, LOL!
I personally do not like orange cor of the slide after restoration but what matters most is that this piece of history has been restored for generations to come. Well done!
Another great restoration! Thanks for the content. I prefer your channel over others as I feel you do a much nicer job with much less talking. But a wicked color on that slide!
That turned out great. I really like the way the slide turned out. I've seen the almost purple color on WWII pistols before but never that orange. Awesome Video.
One of the finest results on your channel. Love the two toned look and the orange against the darker blueing. I always hated Berettas (loved the 1911's) until I got out of the military. I used to have an M34 in my collection before, but sold it in the mid 2000's. This video brings back a lot of days at the range and being asked what it was. Anyway great job on this. Such a fantastic result.
My favorite gun channel and always happy to see a new posting. I have learned more about firearm construction on this channel than anywhere else. Thanks!
Absolute gorgeous firearm with beautiful striking color on the metals. I first imagined this was going to be one of his easier projects and would turn out very nicely and he did not disappoint ! The action of the piece seems very nice and smooth. This is my favorite firearm so far that the maestro has completed. I would love to own this awesome pistol. It would be a perfect match to my 1940 Ford Sedan ! Bravo !
My grandad took one of these off an Italian prisoner of war and bought it back. We had to give it in about 60 years later but it was in excellent condition. It was so easy to clean and operate.
Was this firearm originally nickel plated or was it blued? I have never seen a slide turn out that way before, is it the blueing process you use or a totally different metal from the frame. I have seen results for Hot salt blueing which most gunsmiths use but what type of bluing did you use? I have built several 1919A4’s in my time but most have been parkerized, after they come out of the boiling hot water rinse they go into a bath of Dextron II ATF fluid for 24 hours. BTW if you ever work with cloth belt fed MG's we soak the belt in ATF fluid as well. Makes the gun run smoother and helps preserve the belt. Now disintegrating links are another story.
Coulda maybe saved the original red dot paint for "fire" with a bit of gum or stick-tac before sandblasting..but then it might have come off during blueing..I dunno...
Very funny little gun. Great job. The two tone are so funny and give him à good look. Thank for this another great restoration. You are the King of gun smith
As an Italian who loves this weapon which is iconic for us, I want to offer you my greatest compliments. Could you explain the internal inspection of the barrel? Were you afraid that it was worn out and might explode in the final test?
It’s hilarious to see the comments that doubt people who are clearly professional in their craft. Just started watching you guys and have been loving it! Yeah, I have never and don't plan on ever owning a gun. I don't even like shooting guns. But for whatever reason, I really enjoy these videos.
Think of it as a tool restoration. Because guns are just that, tools.
So the first thing your brain went to was safety precautions?? I'm so thankful that I don't think that way, I just enjoy the restoration.
