DON'T BRING YOUR DRONE TO MOROCCO

  • I'll be telling you the story of what happened to me when I brought my drone to Morocco. Walking you through all the steps to get your drone back and what not to do or how to prepare to recover your drone.
    Don't worry if your drone was held at the airport, you can still get it back.
    If you did manage to sneak your drone into Morocco then you should work extra hard to sneak it back out because the penalty is worse.
    Safe travels!

    I bring my drone to Morocco, but I didn't know that wasn't allowed (my fault). I entered the drone in the country (without passing any x-ray machine at the airport) and I flew over the sahara...so far so good. But the day I left the country, in the airport they saw my drone through the x-ray machine. After 2 hours of chat and argue with the Douane department and the Royal police, they kept my drone (WITHOUT the chance to get it back) and my hard drive, plus a fine of 1530 dirhams (150€ aprox). So yes, it's better to be caught with your drone at the entrance in the country...

    i m from morocco
    i know its not cool that u cant use a drone in morocco
    but its jst like that because here no one likes to be filmed ...
    and jst by the way
    filming with a camera or a phone in public is also illegal without certification
    and u only get the certification if you work as a press guy ...
    so in general you can only film something without taking people in it
    but police cant deny everyone at any time so u can film with a camera as long u dont get caught by police or angry people

    Ok so can we talk constructive now. How do I get a permit to bring my drone in?

    • @saadchemlal
      @saadchemlal ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately the legislation is still “young” in terms of “importing” your drone as it is considered as an importation activity ( even as a tourist ) . To bring your own drone you need to go through companies who already obtained the special permit ( agrément ). It is allowed, I believe, for filming, big productions, research …long story short, it is a rabbit hole.

    Drones are a matter of national security in Morocco. Even developed countries are struggling with regulations and technological solutions to counter "treats" that might be caused by the usage of drones. So Morocco decided, I can't deal with that, I am not getting it in.
    But still if you do the right paper work you can get it in, as far as I know you need some license to carry it around the country.
