Thanks for the breakdown. Very useful! I also took part in my 2nd BJJ tournament last December at age 54. It was also a Grappling Industries round robin tournament. It went better than I expected, as I won double gold 🥇 at 66kg (145lbs) in the 40+ AG! I was the oldest competitor by 10 years. Some of my fights are on my channel.
Great job congrats . Your jiu jitsu is great for a white belt . For the triangle heres my advice ill list in order of importance . 1 - very important to keep his posture broken , theres alot of ways to do this but ill keep it short 2- create angle to the side which your leg is around his neck , also many ways to create the angle . 3 - Traingles are much better used in unison with omoplatas and armbars . Tried to keep it simple , hopefully that helps ! Keep up the hardwork !
great video! I do my first jiujitsu tournament (grappling industries) in a couple weeks and this insight will help me prepare for what i might encounter. so Thanks!
4:37 - Dude is basically 80% out. With your free arm, you would need to try go for the other leg if you wanted to continue with the triangle. Otherwise, you would just go for that omoplata by pulling him down hard and adjusting to the sub
I see!! So if I’m trying to change to a oma then let go of the triangle and figure four around the shoulder, but if I want the triangle I have to be on the side of the of the neck. Correct?
Great work!!! As far as that triangle when he reached back to break your guard that’s when you should have thrown it it. I think the reason the mounted triangle didn’t because it wasn’t tight enough around the neck. And grab the choking leg when you’re ready to set it up. Also you always have a triangle from gift wrap.

thank you! things I all gotta work on!
you grabbed the wrong leg on the triangle.
Ahhhhh!! Any way to remember which side is the right side 🤔
@@jiujitza the leg at the opposite side of the opponent's arm that you catch in your triangle.
The leg that you bring across the back of their neck is the side you’re supposed to angle out to.

Best of luck! It’s one hell of a ride! 🫡
How did you do?
Awesome man!! Solid work 🔥
You just ditched your shin for his collar on the triangle sweep fail. Good work dude!
soft
Difficult
Off the gift wrap establish a kimura grip and chair sit for a more efficient back take. Excellent work
You rotated the wrong way for the triangle lol
soft
Awesome dude
Thanks 😁
thats crazy, Miles trains at my gym
For the omoplata sweep you transitioned to… you need to keep a grip on the same sleeve as the omoplata.

and at 6:25 - You should have kept your right hand grip and smash your left shoulder into his chest/abs when you went for the pass. Good stuff though

@@jiujitza you are definitely correct, man.

I’ve been working a ton of gift wraps! Maybe my coach enjoys the holidays a bit too much, but I love them thanks for the insight
Hey bro. I'm one of the guys you destroyed there lol congratulations.
Howdy brotha! I’m gonna be at your gym Sunday, if you’re around we should roll around!
@@jiujitza that would be dope but I work Sunday mornings lol one of these days though!

You are like a blue belt… good fight 👏👏👏who is your teacher? How long do you start Jiljitsu? I’m blue belt and I’m in Melque Galvão gym with my son.
I've been training for about a year and a halfish. but only have been competing for about 10 months! I train at START BJJ in St Cloud MN.
How a blue belt won a white belt tournament
Loved competing against you, hope to have a rematch soon!
I imagine it won’t be that far out! Thanks for the roll brotha 👍
