You're right, Tina just moved with the music, felt it through her body, Freddie was the same, even in the studio you see him letting the music flow through him. Wembley was a long stadium, the stage was a double decker 60 ft. Long, it was built and taken down by the roadies at each concert. The mic stand happen early in Queen's career, Freddie broke the stand during a concert and continued singing with it broken, after that it became his prop, he used it in many ways during concerts. Great reaction

Freddie wasn't diagnosed with HIV until 1987, but at this time was already having some health issues that he knew needed addressing. In an interview Brian said Freddie told them after this concert that he was done with touring after the finale at Knebworth. Brian stated he had made that statement before on other tours, and they kind of brushed it off, but he was serious this time. Rest In Paradise beautiful Freddie 🙏❤️

Love your reactions,Travis. Tho I never saw Queen live, I was an avid teen fan in the 1970’s. They were something different, special. There was nothing to compare them against. This concert was about a year after LiveAid (and at the same location). To see it again, fresh and new through your eyes, brings back my youth and great memories. Thank You.

John Deacon is the bass player...Freddie acknowledges John’s amazing bass playing by shouting “go Johnny go”, a line from the Chuck Berry song , “Johnny B. Goode”...also when Freddie sings “down in the city, just Hoople and me”....that’s a reference to the time that Queen supported Mott the Hoople in New York🤩

This song was written by Brian May and is about Queen's very first tour in which they were the warm up band for Mott The Hoople. They toured first in UK/Europe and were so well received that they were invited to do the rest of the tour to the U.S. This was the only tour Queen ever did where they were not the headline group. They had a great time and said that they learned so much about touring that they later applied to their own tours. Thank you for reacting to this song, I really love it as I love all of Brian's hard rocking songs.

The stage was specifically brought in by Queen for the concert (there was another one the night before) and used throughout this tour. If you watch "One Vision" from this same show -- and I highly recommend it! -- it begins with a time-lapse of the stage being set up and the crowd coming in. th-cam.com/video/lgwfMF5kSJ0/w-d-xo.html

    • @Sassypaws4927

Actually, there were 3 identical stages. Queen tours always had 3 identical stages because constructing the stage took over a week. It also took nearly a week to strike the stage (deconstruct all the light, set, and sound equipment).
The first stage was built in the location of the first show, the second stage set was sent ahead to set up for the second location, and the third was sent ahead to set up for the third location. Sometimes there were only a couple of days or even one day between tour locations.
Of course, after the first stage was struck and packed up, it was set on to the fourth location and so forth.

I love this concert both nights are fantastic love this song too one of my favourites Roger said this song was the hardest to drum there is a ‘Roger Cam’ focused solely on him which you can see how much he is working with the drums there is a camera focused on each of the band members brilliant there were cameras everywhere 😂😂

The majority of moves Fred makes are used for signals to Brian they work by eye and short conversation on stage, so it might be Fred and Brian, and then Roger and John looking at each other every movement has a reason

I read somewhere (can’t remember where) but Queen allegedly had three stages! One for the current tour date, second one to be transported to the next tour location, the third one for rehearsals at home base! Also, Freddie made sure the stage techs worked their magic so that there was no music delay for the fans seated in the back! Everybody heard the same thing at the same time!! Amazing!!

    • @elkevera
      @elkevera 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Debra, -Brian said they were the first band to use a relay system, most likely positioned in the middle of the stadium, so as you stated above, people heard the same thing in the back as the audience up front.- Mick Jagger said, the stage was almost too big, even for Freddie. He joked that Freddie needed a golf cart to get from one end to the other.😂

The whole Wembley 1986 concert was fire!! You should watch it. We have to remember every song is Live for nigh on 2 hours. And most songs are high energy and full on.. no autotune oe playback back then...just all Live. So I think musicians back then are forgiven if they make an error or the singers voices crack. That makes for proper human Live concerts. Phenomenal.

Freddie and Brian would usually wear white when playing to a large stadium, it made it easier for the people in back to locate them on the stage. And you don't have to pause during Queen songs like you do with others.

This song was composed by Brian May and was inspired by Queen's first tour to America. They joined Mott the Hoople's America tour as the warm-up band -- hence the line in the song, 'Down in the city, just Hoople and me".
I find it interesting to compare this performance of "Now I'm Here" from 1986 to the Queen's live performance on a BBC special from 1975 -
    th-cam.com/video/uvOuRt_BiRI/w-d-xo.html
Queen's drummer is Roger Taylor and Queen's bass guitarist (and unofficial "Dancin' Queen") is John Deacon.
This shirt looks like Mickey Mouse to me. The white jacket is less impressive than the other jacket he wore at Wembley, the bright yellow version.
If you really want to see Freddie's control over the audience, watch the video of "Under Pressure" at the Wembley concert. It first shows Freddie's classic "Call and Response" with the audience (and yes, he is wearing the yellow jacket). th-cam.com/video/OVzvoPP6M50/w-d-xo.html

Add to that a little James Cagney (like Freddie, a boxer in his youth) punctuating the air with boxing moves. Not to mention the mic stand on top of his shoulder with arms draped over it - a la James Dean style. Such a fun blend - he liked to pay tribute.

    HEYYY TRAVIS!
    (aka Fellow Supernatural Watcher)…
THANK YOU for making my morning!
…This was in the SAME stadium as Live Aid, a year after Live Aid.
(Exactly a year, actually: Live Aid was July 13, 1985 and this concert was July 11 & 12 (two nights) 1986. Queen just built a HUGE stage.😄
P.S. Young Goofy might be a good guess on Freddie’s shirt… I’ve always tried to figure out what the cartoon character was. I believe he also had one w Betty Boop, and in “The Miracle” MV, Freddie (as well as his “Mini Me”) is wearing one w Marilyn Monroe’s face depicted on it.

Yeah, I can see a little Tina Turner in his moves! I thought it was Mighty Mouse on his shirt but it could very well be Mickey. Neither are wearing their standard outfits so it's hard to tell. Betty Boop is on the back which you'll see during other songs from this concert if you check out more. Great reaction, thanks!

Im sorry, but the only ones that could say that of Elvis, MJ or Prince, are those from USA. Worldwide, Freddie Mercury and Queen has no contest. Their impact in so many different music genres, can not be compared. The Beatles make a huge impact and a transition that make others (including Queen members) get into music. But they did it with the help of the huge USA music corporations. Queen made even a bigger impact, and without that huge industry. The were the first in do a lot of things that others are doing now, from self managing, to developed recording technics, to even create the first song into a new musc genre (Stone Cold Crazy is considered the first Trash Metal song). The consept of the modern Videoclip, etc, etc.
Sure, you will find a lot of great musicians and singers across the world, that had a great infuence in a lot of people, but there genres were more reduce. From Soda Stereo and Seru Giran, to Edith Piaf and Jean Michel Jarre. From Bob Marley to Victor Jarra. From Joan Manuel Serrat to Caetano Velozo. From Abba to U2. From Nightwish to AC/DC. From Joaquin Sabina to Atahualpa Yupanqui. Etc, etc, etc. In the Pantheon of Musicians and Band there are over 100 artists and bands from no less than 50 countries. But Queen is the one who stretch there repertoir and influence the most.
Now, if you look at Rolling Stone or any other media from US, when ever they do a Ranking of Best of All Time, you will find a lot of bands and musicians that didnt really were that good/big compared with others in other countries, nore have any significant influence outside US.
A had coworked who moved here from USA to work and find a better future (tipical migrant history) that told me one time that he discovered a whole new world of Music, Books, Movies, Series, etc, that didnt even knew existed because they are not promoted in USA. Bands that were huge Worldwide, but never listened in USA. Or Movies he never knew were remakes from other countries.
I dont know why it was/is like that in USA, but at least now you dont have to travel to other country to discover what is happend in the world. As Obama said there, its a great oportunity for USA citizen to discovered what was and is outside that bubble the US created and isolated from the rest of the world.
No kidding, this friend of main from there didnt even know that Sense of a Woman was a remake!!!! I mean, Al Pacino is a good actor, and it was a decent remakes (one of the few in a sea of horribles remakes that Hollywood did/does), but come on!!! There was Vittorio Gassman in the original and was a worldwide success!!.
Anyway, glad you discovered Queen now. I strongly recommend you to listen to ALL of their albums. And keep searching. Im tempting to make you a list of 50 or 100 other musicians and bands for you.
    Keep making videos and reactions!

Let’s face it - Freddie and Tina probably had energy equal to 10 people each! I love this but I was a huge Queen fan in 70-80’s. This has to be late 80’s since Freddie’s hair is short. Wembly stage is in the front not middle but area is circular - it’s huge. Roger Taylor - drums, John Deacon -bass, Brian May.
